  • Ford uses a positive locking connector on their coil packs, and just looking at them it's not obvious how to disconnect them. In this quick video, I'll show you how to disconnect it without breaking it using just a small tool like a pick or screwdriver.

Thank you so much for making this video! I wonder if people not knowing this procedure is why so many people seem to break their clips...

Thanks, changing a coil pack on my 2012 f250. Never seen this type of connector.

Thank you for this video. Man, for such a simple thing it sure wasn't easy to figure out. I had already tried what it said in this video prior to finding this video and it didn't work. But after I watched this, it all made sense and I went back out and tried it again and it worked like a charm this time. lol, this is my first late model as everything else I have is from the 60's - 70's. Those darn connectors had me stumped. smh

Well...crap... wish I'd seen this before I broke 4 of the red tabs doing a tune up earlier this year. Even though I saw your video too late, I appreciate the advice for future repairs.

I broke mine right away being gentle. The cheap Korean plastic piece just was so old & and brittle, ready to snap...😂😂
Kia Forte.. so 3 other coil connectors I just wiggle slightly came off.. pulled straight out easy..

Looks just like my 2013 Ford F150 5.0 coil packs. They are really on there after 300,000 miles. I changed the spark plugs at 160,000 about five years ago. This time I’m changing coil packs as well as spark plugs. This video has helped thanks 😊 and best wishes

Thanks so much for this tip! Just saved me some time and frustration. I was going to do a video of the anterior driver side removal of the clip that obstructs the removal of that sparkplug, but I don't know the that part on the valve cover is that sits under the foam cover. The clip is on the underside of it if that makes sense for anyone battling with this. Thanks again!
