Diet and exercise are the only two options I've found to provide any significant improvement to my mental health. I've tried therapy and was suggested anti-depressants and not a fan of either.
Not so good.. I am talking with a therapist and trying to get back on medication. I am reading Thich Nhat Hanh's "The Miracle of Mindfulness" and doing some meditation.. I find that my back hurts and I always fall asleep during meditation so it's hard to keep practicing.

Perhaps this can be helpful to someone. Remember, sad feelings will eventually lift. You are not your emotions. Try to remember that moods will come and go. Have the strength to allow them to exist and know they’re not permanent. Take them a day at a time and accept that “this too shall pass”. God bless all.
Listening to your wisdom always always ALWAYS restores my hope. I have been watching your videos for years and I now know that when things feel bleak or as if I will always be stuck in anxiety and fear, I can come to your videos and find guidance. You bring me ease, hope and motivation. Thank you, from the absolute bottom of my heart.
Thank you so much. I’ve been struggling lately and have started relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms that I thought I’d let go of. I rewatched this twice to let it sink in more. The whole video was wonderful but your caring words toward the end were more needed than anything. ♥️

Ven. Nick, I am at PaPae and have two of your books. This place is beautiful and amazing. Just as the city, so many temples one after the other. There are people from all over the planet. The monks are amazing and you were the reason why I came here. I am here like a lot of the others, looking for a way to stop suffering. I’ve practice for over 10 years, but need help with some issues(like family). I’m here for the extended retreat and have no time restraint. Much Metta. 🙏🙏🙏 Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu.

I’m struggling with my mental health right now. Anxiety & depression. And at this moment, I feel like I’m living inside my head instead of the real life. Everything that has happened in my daily life feels like a dream. I can’t focus on anything. When I tried to stay focus, my mind wanders around and creates their own scenarios. I feel like I’m detaching away from the real life. I just want it to stop. I want to feel happy & content again. I want to feel alive again. I tried doing meditation but my mind always wanders around. And I got tired trying to bring back my focus. But I will still continue practicing meditation & mindfulness because I know that I need to practice to control my own mind. Whoever reads this, please pray for me and to the others who also suffering from mental illness. 💚💚💚 And to Ven Nick, you are an amazing human being. I found your videos while searching for more info on mindfulness and I’m glad I stumbled upon your videos. It brings me peace when listening to your videos. I am having a rough time at the moment. I don't feel understood by some important people in my family, it's like we have a hard time connecting. This is painful and sometimes makes me sad. Also, I have been seeing less my friends since the pandemic started and I feel a bit isolated, as I work from home. Sometimes it's hard to find motivation and that makes me feel anxious or confused. The good news is that I am learning to regulate in a healthy way, by taking care of myself, sharing with my partner and friends and taking some steps to feel more connected. But it takes time and sometimes it's hard. Thank you for your kind words.

Again, I cannot thank you enough, you are such a blessing in my life!
Hi Nick. I would say that currently my mental health is great. Fortunately (I truly feel fortunate) I have always been good at dealing with "life", and the curve balls that it constantly throws. It takes a lot of negativity for my mental health to become compromised. I typically meditate to help stay centered and focused. I treat people how I want to be treated and I stay away from people/situations that I know have the potential to become a negative experience. One of the biggest resources I use are your videos, and videos like yours. Thank you for the great stuff my friend, I hope you're enjoying Alabama! 🙏👍🏻😁
Ven Nick. Thank you for this informative video. So, many misunderstood Buddhism and Buddhist philosophy. They think Buddha is a “bald, happy man.” The Dalai Lama states Buddhism has 3 aspects. First, Religion is for Buddhist only, so do not try to convince or confuse people who are non-Buddhist. The Second aspect is Psychology. The Third aspect is knowledge. He says the Buddha said not to take his words for it, but to do “your own investigations.” With your background both as a Monk and a Licensed Therapist, I hope people will listen to your wise words. You, other monks, and other Western therapists have helped me to learn to cope with my sufferings. Not everyone have to go to a Brick and Mortar therapy. For me, listening to proper sources have helped tremendously.
Thank you. I like all the vids I watch and have shared your channel with my dad. I kept quoting your vids and expressing to him how much they helped me and how inspired I am to exercise mindfulness, meditation, & stillness and he was skeptical until he watched one of your vids. We are high energy anxious beings who sometimes go days without sleeping bc of business dealings and these videos are really beginning to broaden our perspectives. I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos.
You’ve become a recent resource for me! I’m recovering from a complex chronic illness, which became far worse due to catching Covid over 1.5 years ago. Days like today when I’m bed bound and dependant on my own mind, your videos are helpful. Thank you and be well!
Greetings. I am in Mobile, AL and have taught many monks English here. Welcome to our city. I am so happy to have come across your videos including your five steps on how to change. I have subscribed to your channel and your discussion on mental health from a Buddhist point of view is invigorating. Best wishes and safe travels 😀. I hope to meet you one day
Your videos’ are always inspiring and helpful. I’m saddened by the cruelty happening around the world. So much suffering caused by people who need mental health support. Sending you love. 🙏🏼
This was great-really something for me to think more about. I love the "stop doing bad, do more good, meditate" simplification. :) I had a video idea if you were interested...could you (or someone you know) speak about being a Buddhist who also identifies as a member of a faith group (Christian/Jewish/Muslim/Hindu/etc.)? I feel like the perception is that you have to be one or the other, but you can be both, because Buddhism is not a faith, but a way of life.
My mental health is good now after returning to work from leave and I plan to keep it that way. The good part of having time off is getting the much needed clarity. I expected work to still be crisis mode when I returned. And it is. And tomorrow is another day. Tonight I meditate and rest. Tomorrow I eat healthy and exercise. 😴💤🙏
@@nickkeomahavong01 I consider you my honest, wise, kind friend. The courage you showed me by entering the monastery was inspiring and motivating. Thank you.
Nick, thank you for another great video. By the way, I am still doing the 5 mins mediation and committing to a year since you made that video way back when. Some days the 5 mins is easy but some days the mind would not quiet down. I just want to let you know again. Thank you.
Hi Venerable Nick. I dont know how you do it, but your voice is just calming. I dont even need to watch the video, just listening to you. Continue with your good work. :) I wish you peace and happiness.
Dear ven. Nick have been waiting for your next video the best always comes last waiting for more development on this topic your true self is really showing a mental health professional thank you🌈
Thank you so much for this. Your energy is so calming, beautiful, and thoughtful. You are helping me a lot through times where the mind can try to take over. Lots of love 💛💛
Venerable Nick. How insightful you are indeed I was amazed at the gestalt All these years thinking it Was some sort of. Primal Screem, thanks for your always Enlightened look at the world You are st very special I recall when I was a Buddhist Many years & daisaku Ikeda The president,is a very well Known writer & poet in Japan He would always say "Never forget why we CULTIVATE Our minds" this is what you bring Deepest thanks Kelly
Ven. Nick, In a recent video you talked about greed and said that the solution for it was giving. I got that. Anger and delusion, however, I still don't know the remedy for. There may not be a remedy. Anger is due to frustration, if I understand it correctly. An example is wanting something that we can't have, or having something that we don't want. Delusion is clinging to false beliefs, such as our conviction that we are our thinking minds/egoic selves. Your new book on meditation mentions anger, greed, and delusion but doesn't go into it in detail.
How is your mental health at the moment? and what kind of support are you utilizing?

He says the Buddha said not to take his words for it, but to do “your own investigations.” With your background both as a Monk and a Licensed Therapist, I hope people will listen to your wise words. You, other monks, and other Western therapists have helped me to learn to cope with my sufferings. Not everyone have to go to a Brick and Mortar therapy. For me, listening to proper sources have helped tremendously.
You’re welcome my friend 😊 thank you
So sweet thank you making this video! ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Awe thank you so much. I’m glad it’s helpful and please tell your dad hello 😊
You’ve become a recent resource for me! I’m recovering from a complex chronic illness, which became far worse due to catching Covid over 1.5 years ago. Days like today when I’m bed bound and dependant on my own mind, your videos are helpful. Thank you and be well!
Thank you Nick for your giving , helpful heart ❤️
Thank you so much Cathy 😊

Thank You ✨It was helpful✨
This was great-really something for me to think more about. I love the "stop doing bad, do more good, meditate" simplification. :) I had a video idea if you were interested...could you (or someone you know) speak about being a Buddhist who also identifies as a member of a faith group (Christian/Jewish/Muslim/Hindu/etc.)? I feel like the perception is that you have to be one or the other, but you can be both, because Buddhism is not a faith, but a way of life.
This video is needed for people in the world today.
Thank you so much 😊
AMITABHA BUDDHA BLESS YOU
THANK YOU FOR YOUR WISDOM

Very good teaching during difficult times. Thank you.
Thank you for your video
My mental health is good now after returning to work from leave and I plan to keep it that way.
The good part of having time off is getting the much needed clarity.
I expected work to still be crisis mode when I returned.
And it is.
And tomorrow is another day.
Tonight I meditate and rest.
Tomorrow I eat healthy and exercise.
😴💤🙏
Beautiful Susan! We are proud of you! Keep going 😀😀😀

Nick, thank you for another great video. By the way, I am still doing the 5 mins mediation and committing to a year since you made that video way back when. Some days the 5 mins is easy but some days the mind would not quiet down. I just want to let you know again. Thank you.

Thank you!🙏🏾💜
You’re welcome my friend 😊
