There are no more heroes. Hugh did once buy me a pint & chat about life, so he’s pretty close. I bought him a single malt whisky and he seemed toreally enjoyed it. That was an extremely small price to pay for a hour or two with a man who, alongside The Stranglers, made sense of my teenage life and made it, alongside the Ramones, vaguely tolerable. I’m a heart surgeon now. God knows what he’d make of that given what a wee shite I was then lol. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
An amazing tribute to Dave… who was such an innovative organist, harpsichord, and keyboard player!! Plus Hugh played the instrumental version to keep it real!! Their first 10 top charting albums wouldn’t be the same without Dave’s contributions!! Yet his classical/medieval arrangements were considered New Wave… from a Punk band that morphed into something new to stay relevant! Hugh wisely left the Stranglers at the top of his game, since he knew the stress of writing, practising, recording, and touring would kill him… especially being looked to as the key artist in their repertoire… R.I.P. Dave and Jet!!!
This is sublime! It's new music but on the old theme. Beautiful. There's no negativity in this or what JJ is doing. At least everyone agrees how great Dave was (Jet too). Keep going, guys. Every time I see 'Fly Straight Dave' I get a lump in my throat. (And I go listen to Toiler On The Sea or something.)

'18 was such a great night, but this one just recently it's like the Set is getting deeper/wider I think, more varied, such a wide selection of material now. You seem to really enjoy yourself mate, that's how it should be. Very best of luck to you all and oh. . . this was great to witness, I would say old School Strangs ppl like me saw it as a nod to the great man, the 'genie-uss', felt really emotional watching you guys do this but diggin up 'Turn the CEnturies turn' was just a total masterstroke , never ever thought I'd hear it live ever, but why not?
