I am SO EXCITED your are doing the Swell quilt!!! As soon as I saw your last episode, I purchased the Swell layer cake and the Perfect 10 book! I fell in love with this pattern last year (childhood memories!) and was thrilled Moda brought it back! I would not have known without your Fireside Chat I just discovered! Looking forward to fun with your group! Thanks Pat!
Alex I love the fabric for the same reasons, the childhood memories!
Jack (the ripper) and I are good friends. I have been tempted to get to know his friend Jack Daniels on occasions LOL
Always enjoy your chats!
thank you Sharon!
I think your comments about in person groups are wonderful. It is important to get out and meet people. However there are a number of us who for whatever reason (physical health, mental health, small children, etc.) can't get out and meet people face to face. For those of us with those issues, meeting via computer has been a life saver. I'd love to see more of those people have options for virtual groups.
yes it is for the group that can't. but you never know, maybe that group can get out sometimes... :)
I have medical problems and love the online groups too. Unfortunately my sewing machine has permanently died so I am without a machine😞. I started quilting as a change from cross stitch. I love the quilting crowd, wonderful change from the xstitch crowd, my stash wasn’t big enough and my expensive linen and thread collections weren’t big enough (well, they don’t exist lol). Just hope I can stay without a machine. Some lifetimes just nothing can go right.
I love the quilting community. Quilters are so supportive and thoughtful. :)
I am so thankful for you, Pat!
i'm so thankful to have you join me!
@@PatSloan It's almost like you're in my home and we're chatting! I need to join or start a sewing group! Gathering together with like-minded people brings such joy to our lives!
Great chat, Pat Thanks for the encouragement to go find some sewing friends. We have a senior center that would be a perfect place to get started. Thanks again, love our chats.
that is perfect Pamela!
Yep! Cup -holder snack cups! Great invention....about 20 years ago, found for toddler grandsons!
You are so nice. Your mother in law will be proud of you.
thank you so much Linda
Big thanks to you Pat and the shipping department 😉. I enjoy your videos and still missing your podcast. You’re rockin’ it in your new cute red glasses. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion😊
thank you for being here Kathy!!
Missed you lady!
I'm happy to see that I am not the only one who enjoys her snacks. :) I love the GoPacks in the Mini Chips Ahoy. I've resorted to just buying the family bag of regular size and breaking up a few into bite size pieces in a bowl. I do think they were designed for the cup holder in your car but I live in AZ and they would melt. :(
i think that is what they are for too. they would melt in most states in the summer!
It was nice to see you I really enjoy your videos and info you have but most of all your beautiful Smile 🥰❤️
thank you Leticia!
It was nice to see you this week! I hope your Swell Christmas quilt is everything you want it to be. I have a quilting buddy in my small town. We bounce ideas off each other and swap fabrics. It's great!
Your positivity is so great and inspiring I can't wait for your videos 😍
thank you so much!
Pat, thank you for your video. Love your challenge! I need to join a group. Love your Santa fabric! 🎅🏻
I have a group that started in a fabric store over 20 years. The store has closed but we a e still together. we have been through a ton of things together. We meet once a month and they are my buddies and I just adore each and every one of them.
that is how my group started! we out lived the store too!
My friend did hundreds of pebbles in double thread, without checking the back of her quilt. She was sick when she found the thread nested across the width in a 5 inch swathe. Jack had a double date for a little while, because I tried to help her get some of it out...🤪🐝🤪🐝
you are a GREAT Friend!!
My grandkids could tell you what those cups are for. Lol
Enjoyed your fireside chat this week. The Christmas fabric is SO cute! 🎄 I'm part of my local MQG & it has been fun to attend the sew days.
it is!
Those sewing machines are great for people that do not have full use of their legs for a foot pedal.
there are a lot of reasons it's wonderful!
If you quilt it in the sashiko machine with the 28 thread, it’d be great if you could do a video on your blog (or RUclips ), I’d love to see how that machine works and your quilting!
there are some excellent videos for it here at youtube gwen, just put sashiko machine in the search box
Pat Sloan thank you Pat - I will check them out!
Good morning Pat from Australia 🇦🇺 It’s almost 10.30am Tuesday the 10th September here.
morning!
Your sew positive......I went to the local quilt guild....ice cold reception except for 2 lady's that did not come very often who were very kind and the quilt shop owner that recommended the group. I tried to be positive I joined....but in the end I did not feel welcome enough to go back.
I am slowly going to another quilt shop....and these women are all super nice and happy so i signed up for the shop hop....we will see where it leads. I hope if u have a negative experience like I did....that do go try again....you never know.
The same thing happened to me with the guild I joined. It was like high school with well established clics. I took classes, went to every meeting, and even did guild volunteer work. After a year I gave up. Luckily, a new quilt shop opened not to far from me so maybe i will get to know some quilters there. Fingers crossed.
Good job not giving up Denise! all people are different. all groups are different. you have to look around and be open to the experience.
never give up, you have to be open to meeting people.. they are as shy as you might be
I live in an over 55 community and we have sewing/crafting every Tuesday 10am. Look in over 55 community's we have ladies that don't live in the community that come.
so perfect!
It is Sew perfect... LOL.
I've used my sashiko to quilt one quilt and I'm anxious to do again. I loved the affect it gave the quilt.
Hi Pat, I just subscribed to your RUclips channel. I’m looking forward to checking in when I have time. I have a tip for you for your fabric in your plastic case. Use the Contact brand grip liner. It’s perfect to keep fabric in place. 🧁
i'll get some Connie!
hey there hope things are going better now ,excited to see the fireside chat.
thank you Greta!
Hi Pat. Can you please show more of the quilt over the white cabinet?
that is my crush done in red at pat-sloan.dpdcart.com/product/92663
Used the tape love it
how did you use it?
I'd always been told not to use magnets (even the magnetic seam guide)on a computerized machine - that it would mess with the computer.
not everything is an 'absolute' is it? This was designed specifically FOR this. You can write to the company for more info if you want them to give you the research
I have to tell you something! When you say you are going to be at the Fireside for coffee and chat, I'm thinking you are gonna be here in Sellersburg, Indiana. No I was wrong😢😰😂😘, so wish I was right! Are you ever coming through Southern Indiana please inform me please!
is that the name of a restaurant in your town?
Hi Pat
I am watching this later from Australia. What is the name of the quilt hanging with the star pattern? It looks like Sweetwater fabric. Thank you
Hi Hanya! it is my Crush design done in scrappy reds .. pattern at pat-sloan.dpdcart.com/product/92663
Will a strong magnet affect the seeing machine computer?
they company says it is formulated not to, and they know how we have all been trained about magnets. You can write them if you need more info
Would you put a magnet on a computerize sewing machine?
Linda this is a computerized machine, it's designer FOR it .. made by Schmetz needle company
Will the magnetic holder that goes on your machine hurt the computerized machines?
they company says it is formulated not to, and they know how we have all been trained about magnets. You can write them if you need more info
What is that machine behind you in the corner? Do you use it for quilting?
that is my babylock Tiara, a sit down longarm .. use to free motion quilt
@@PatSloan Thank you. I have been looking for one but not sure which kind to buy. I am new to quilting. Can you do a video on your Tiara. the pros and cons and maybe quilt a little block or something? Thank you.
I keep my stash and store by my quilting machine
perfect!
I can't see we had a storm and we have no electricity I'm not happy about that
you can watch when the storm is passed
*sewing*!
lol Jack and I have a love hate relationship
short dates are best!
not sure why you promote the sew sampler box when we can no longer subscribe to it...painful
I like seeing the items in it. Some of them are notions I did not know were available.
Mary I am showing you what is INSIDE which is all totally available! And you can get on the wait list. Not painful at all
