Vicky, as always your teaching is so thorough and full of knowledge. I'm certainly learning a great deal. This hanja section is one of the must knows for learning Korea. You are so knowledgeable and teaching me so. Thank you so much always.
I personally think it’s better to proceed with the basic grammar first, and learn 한자 bit by bit in between :)) just to prevent getting too overwhelmed from the start. You can check out this playlist for grammar lessons :
Dear teacher, were there any lessons that you recorded showing the differences between nayo naiyo neyo deyo seyo hayo heyo that I might have missed? Thank you very much. 💖
Hanja is useful to understand the roots of Korean words, which will expand your vocabulary pool and help you remember (and even guess) the meaning relatively easily. It’s not entirely necessary to remember the exact characters, though. Just use them for reference, and knowing how it’s pronounced in Korean and what meaning it has would be more than enough. And not all hanja-based words are for formal situations. There are many words that are used casually as well, like 생일 生日 (birthday) or 독학 獨學(self-study) and many, many, many more. So it is widely used and necessary to a certain degree :)

Some hanja-based words sound more advanced, sophisticated or even more formal than its pure-Korean equivalent, but there are also many words that are used casually & daily as well. It’s not necessary that you remember the exact characters, though. Knowing which hanja(&meaning) a word is based on and how it’s pronounced in Korean would be enough to help you understand the roots of Korean words and expand your vocabulary :)
You can find the list of words we learned in this class here! : explorekorean.com/review-note/hanja-most
i'm now appreciating that i studied in a Chinese school for 10 years and now currently studying korean.

Do we really need to learn Hanja as well when learning Korean? Is it still used widely in formal situation?

ㅋㅋㅋ 남산타워도 높긴 하죠! ^^ 롯데월드 타워만큼은 아니지만~
Oh.. This is very different than Hangeul. I wonder when do Korean usually use this

I am Chinese thus this is easy haha
Are you Korean? You sound 100% Korean. And you do not speak English with a Korean accent. Could you please identity yourself? I'm just curious.
哈哈哈 。最 和 最高。
是不是中文字。🤣🤣🤣
日本人用中文字然后他们说那个是kanji
韩国人说hanja.
很奇怪。
Pathetic dude🙄
I want to watch your classes but i am really bothered by your mannerism “uhm, uhm” it’s destructing me 😵💫
