My beloved who is also mouth taped is similarly unlikely to have an affair. Another fun fact is the overwhelming desire to start a conversation right after I’ve put tape on.
I’ve taped my mouth at night for about 3 years and love the effect. I don’t snort myself awake anymore. And my teeth build up much less plaque. Even my dentist mouth tapes. I use simple first aid tape. Cheap and lasts. Thanks for this video. People need to try this out.
I wanted to try many times! The funny part for me is that I also use ear plugs and eye mask every night. Having additional tape on my face is like a full sleeping armor 😂
I love how honest you are. You put so much work into your videos its crazy. You must have several videos going all at once with these long term video ideas. Very cool!
I liked James Nestor’s Breath so well that I took careful notes of the whole book. I drifted away from the habit of taping because I seem not to have much trouble with nose breathing on my own. I recently got Mcgeown’s follow-up to The Oxygen Advantage, and the (free) Oxygen Advantage app. This has all inspired me to revisit mouth taping and to focus on nose breathing for almost everything. Another tip I picked up along the way is to just focus on the position of my tongue while nose breathing. The idea is to press your tongue to the roof of your mouth so it creates a little suction. That pretty much holds my tongue in place without any thought or effort, and seems to keep my mouth closed for easy nose breathing. This seems to be the way for me to use the habit consistently.
I bought the mouth tape over a year ago but have not used it. Something about shutting off air to/from my mouth seemed...dangerous. So, watching your video with the gentle, minimal mouth taping seems like a good option. I'll try it.
Last night I knew my husband was huffing and puffing and half asleep I asked, 'How am I disturbing you now?' and he replied, 'Breathing!". So I'm going to try taping since I'm clearly snoring. But I also have wanted to tell you for a while how much I really enjoy your videos. I'm the same personality..... willing to try just about anything for a month, so I have tried a few things based on your videos. Keep up the great content!
Another fantastic video, my favourite YT channel! when i tape my mouth to sleep i actually put a few olbas oil drops on my pillow or/and vix on under my nose to make sure my nasal passage is clear for breathing through my nose all night. Try taping your mouth at night when you have a cold and are congested...its hell haha. Luckily after a few weeks ive finally learnt to breathe during my nose at night (whennnnnn i dont have a congested nose/cold)
I have taped for 2 years and gone from never being able to nose breathe( would gasp for air after a few seconds and it felt clostraphobic) to now being comfortable nose breathing. Worked incredibly well.
Just discovered your vids via your barefoot and fasting reports 👍🏼. I wear mouth tape same way as you…probably about 6 months now and not as consistently as I wish but always feel I sleep better and the fitness wearable I use would concur. My DH has a broken nose and snores pretty dramatically at times but mouth tape has been a game changer for us….nothing more depressing than having to retire to the spare bed in the early hours 🫤. I also wear ear plugs (for the snoring) and have woken up chewing on an ear plug…was dreaming I was eating something 👀
I just found your channel today and I must say I can relate to most all of your videos. I had just started research on mouth breathing vs nose breathing these past few weeks. Boy I’m glad I did. I too am interested in facts and results. I like your style. In turn 58 next month and my age has recently begun to show me how hard life can be and how quickly it can happen. So I’ve taken up, I guess , a renewed advocacy for my physical and mental health. I’d love to see you do a video on rebounding if you haven’t. I started two months ago and I can really tell a difference in my arthritis pain.
Mouth tapped two years ago now. Started after my asthma kicked up a notch. I read a book called “the breathing cure”. I started the four daily breathing exercises for asthmatics and mouth tapping. I now only need a quarter dose of my preventative to what I used to have. I don’t do the four times a day breathing exercises anymore though, that was a big commitment. I do find my asthma gets bad again when I don’t mouth tape. I do intend to do the exercises again with determination to see if I can rid of preventative meds completely. Just trying to get my head around where and when….
I’ve been taping my mouth for a couple of years. I feel more comfortable when I sleep wit it taped and generally only leave the tape off if I have a bad cold. I also have better oral hygiene and don’t have a dry mouth in the morning. I always recommend it to people. Most people think it’s a weird idea. It’s their loss!
I've actually read all these books, and I was also taping my mouth for a few months. I felt much better during that time, so I guess I'll go back to it. I even bought the tape from Patrick McKeown's (Oxygen Advantage) store, and I found it quite comfortable since it has a hole in the middle (which is unusual but still effective). However, it’s quite expensive, so I stopped using it. Your idea of using a small piece of surgical tape is great-I might try that! Thank you for reminding me about mouth taping!
I’m so glad to have started mouth taping about 3 years ago. I like a small piece of Durapore tape vertically with a corner turned to make a small tab so I can rip it off quickly if I need to. I love that I no longer wake up with a dry scratchy throat and that I snore less (it’s silly but I feel shame when my light sleeper of a husband needs to move to another room). Two of our teens have also chosen to tape, which I think can only help their oral health.
I love the ease of nasal breathing I feel when I tape my mouth. A small vertical strip is fine for me. I’ve also tried without it and relapsed to mouth breathing. I find it comforting and I’m sure I’m getting a better quality of sleep 👍
Love this ❤ I’ve been taping for five years. Instantly slept better and felt more energised in the morning. Would not go back. I wake up in the night when the tape might come off. If you dig deep enough there’s a connection between the food we used to eat that required more chewing and the more recent prominence of more mouth breathers because of the gradual changing of our head structure.
Been meaning to watch this LT and finally done it. I went to see an orthodontist recently as I am sick of having a dry mouth and sore throat every morning. Gonna find myself some of this tape and give it a go and report back
Breathe was such an interesting book. I was able to switch to a nose breather in a few month,s but I feel like this is a perfect reminder to double check where I'm at with it xD Excellent!
I am a nose breather naturally and am so happy that I don’t have to do this! There are videos on nose breathing, as you know, Laura, and also ones on where to place the tongue all the time.
Ha, me too! I was about to post the same, although I'm not getting it fixed just yet. Do you mind me asking what you are having done to sort it, and how much? Is it rhinoplasty you're having?
Thanks Laura - great video - as always 😎- I've been mouth taping for the past 6 months with Microporous Surgical Tape and sleep great now! I also use an Airmax Nasal Dilator as I broke my nose many years ago playing football - and this helps my nasal breathing immensely. Felt weird at first, but sure does work - give it a try, you won't regret it!!!
My husband had an open bite and had surgery and am appliance to fix it, but his doctor said mouth breathing would make it worse. He slept every night with his mouth gaping open. I told him he should tie up his jaw with a stocking or something! He did not. Later, I got a cold and started waking myself up with a dry mouth and throat and serious snoring. I have narrow nasal passages, so any little disturbance causes me to mouth breathe. I tried the tape and got over the hump of returning to nasal breathing. Got my husband to do it too. We both wear retainers at night for our teeth, mouth tape, eye masks, and he wears nasal strips and earplugs, plus I've got wrinkle strips on sometimes, so we really are quite the pair at bedtime. But it works! He keeps his mouth shut. We both snore less, but still snore, because it's our throats, not our mouths or noses. But it's quieter with mouth tape (and we aren't that loud to begin with). All good and will continue. We use the expensive mouth tape strips, but i will try switching to 3M Micropore when we run out.
I’ve been mouth taping since 2018. I also use earplugs, frownies for my elevens wrinkles, tape along my marionette lines and an eye mask, so basically I look like I’ve kidnapped myself / recovering from plastic surgery every night. I also used to use nasal expanders but I kept losing them - might order more come to think of it. My husband has gotten used to it lol ! It is extreme but I sincerely consider my sleep kit as essential as anything I use during the day - in fact I’d give up moisturizer and make-up well before my sleep kit. Sleeping ‘naked’ is inconceivable. The few times that I have have been akin to trying to sleep on a luggage carrousel or something. I wake up frequently, dream less, and wake up exhausted with morning breath, but with my kit it’s the opposite. My dreams are like feature length films too, it’s wild. Sleeping is an event and we should prepare ourselves accordingly - I love getting ready to sleep! 😅
I do this everyday! It helps with snoring and dry mouth for sure. I’ve noticed a huge, seriously huge, improvement in my ability to breathe through my nose throughout the day… which I couldn’t do before. I was a serious mouth breather my entire life, even while sitting at a desk, and suddenly at 38 years old I can run (…slowly, but run) with my mouth shut. Nuts! Also I bought tape that was 2” (freedom units) wide instead of 1, which ensures my entire mouth is covered and it doesn’t come off during the night.
Laura has such sweet facial expressions ) But, isn't that eye band uncomfortable ? For the sake of longer sleep I have black night curtains ,to keep the morning light away. And ,of course, ear plugs-absolute must-have,waxen ones. And man, that British accent is music for ears.
3:02 In New England .outside of Boston we only get the Lilacs blooming for about 3 weeks . They wont grow down south ,. N.C. . due to climate., so I mail my mum a box overnight every year ,.
I've taped for about 4 or 5 years now and along with dietary changes it really helped my health; I used to have colds every autumn and winter that started in the nighttime, but it quickly resolved with taping. It did need perseverance though and taping for the odd ten minutes during the day helped train my jaw. I remember finding a ted talk by pioneer Patrick Mckeown called 'shut your mouth change your life' and thinking who is this crazy irishman!!!! but he's great. One tip, the 3m can be too sticky so I take some of the stickiness off first by sticking/peeling repeatedly on my wrist before sticking on my lips. Plus I make a small tab at one end by folding it back so its easier to remove. First thing I pack when travelling is mouth tape lol.
Amazing video as always Laura, aside from not having dry mouth and becoming a nose breather through the day, were there not any other benefits to your overall wellbeing that you noticed?
I’ve those books! I started consciously nasal only breathing about 4 years ago so I naturally do that while sleeping and don’t tape. The body switches nostril dominance every few hours. I’ve found even with hayfever and a blocked nose I can still sleep with my mouth shut as I’ve adapted to breathe through one nostril! I also run nasal only - this took some work and I’m up to 4 miles. My heart rate is lower and runs feel easier. I still do a mouth breathe during intense exercises though.
I have been using mouth tape for 2 years and I find the horizontal positioning of the tape (as opposed to the vertical approach) a lot more comfortable and long lasting; I only use a small strip of about 3cm that leaves the corners of my mouth free and I don't feel restricted or claustrophobic (as I did in the beginning). I certainly sleep better, rarely need to wake for a bathroom break anymore and I've also noticed that I feel calmer during the day (less triggered or anxious).
I always used to sleep with my mouth open. I had an open bite, which was corrected with braces and jaw surgery. A year later, I had a genioplasty to further improve my mouth closure. That was two years ago. I had the feeling that I wasn’t sleeping with my mouth open anymore. Then I heard about mouth taping and decided to give it a try. After a few weeks, I occasionally stopped using it, and about a week ago, I set up our security camera in the bedroom. I actually wanted to observe my dogs while they slept But I realized that I was sleeping with my mouth open all night. Since then, I’ve been consistently using the tape again :) P.S.: I use a cheap roll of sports tape. Best regards from Germany.
I first read about the benefits of nose breathing in the book 52 Ways to Walk. Specifically, she mentioned the production of nitric oxide and its benefits. I'm a nose-breathing sleeper and usually wake up if my mouth falls open. But it all is quite interesting.
Mouth breathing is often a sign that your diet isn't too great or that you're histamine intolerant. I don't have this issue anymore after changing my diet. My mouth used to open over night, because my nose got congested a bit. Now that that's gone, no more mouth breathing. I find it more useful to address the cause, not the symptom.
I heard about mouth-tapping via Mike Mutzel & his High Intensity Health podcast. I did try the 3M tape but I ended up with red specs around my mouth a few times plus I thought it had an adhesive smell which I did not like, so added to the reaction I had (and I have to be super careful about eveything I eat or put onto or in myself) I decided to try WoodyKnows tape (I am not affiliated) and I had no reaction what's more the sides of the mouth aren't covered so its not a perfect seal however they were strong enough to keep my lips together. The downside is that less than 1 months supply is nearly 15 quid and when its hot if you sweat it falls off. However, the upside was that my nose can feel bunged up (a result of mouth breathing) & after a few days of mouth taping that went & I had a wonderful clear nose for the first time ever! I also am grain free, animal based, low carb & do supplement a few hours before bed with Magnesium & do a lot of strength training and flexibility yoga so I am super aware of all the low carb/keto/carnivore health fixes but the MT is an add on. I did do some dummy run thru's before I started by using the 3M tape for a couple of hours out walking to force myself to breath thru my nose again helped to have a clearer nose. I also read James Nestor's 'Breathe' & Patrick McKeown's 'The Oxygen Advantage' but I never stuck with Buteyko much to my chagrin. I think this is another useful tool in the arsenal of health.
Interesting!! I'm similar to you - I sucked my thumb as a child, and I have an overbite as a result. As a child, I was definitely a mouth breather! All the photos of me show me with my mouth open. "You're catching flies!" my parents would say... words which continued to ring in my head as I trained myself out of it in my teens and 20s. I will either sleep with my mouth open or closed. Sometimes I press my teeth together and hold tension in my jaw (from anxiety) - I can't help that. Other times, anxiety makes it hard to breathe and my mouth will be open. I know mouth breathing at night isn't good for me - I suffer with a dry mouth as a result (SSRI meds add to that problem) and I use Biotene gel at night otherwise it can get so dry that it's painful! I shall definitely try out some mouth tape - I can totally understand why it would work and what the benefits are - it's a great idea - thank you so much for this video! ☺
@lauratryuk, I just saw a totally unrelated video where this guy talked about dealing with his snoring and sleep apnea by fixing his overbbite. He described getting a sports guard, the kind you put in hot water to soften then shape to fit your mouth, to move his jaw forward while sleeping. He said the result was immediate. Don't know if that's a problem for you, and it was something he only mentioned in passing, but worth mentioning.
Thank you for the video! I tried mouth tape a couple of years ago, but it didn't catch. I'm a very light sleeper, I used to sleep with an eye mask and earplugs, now an eye mask and noise maker. At the time, I found the tape distracting. But I think I might give it another try thanks to this video. (:
I’ve been mouth taping for about a year now. I’m 62 years old and I was starting to get the saggy jowls that one gets with old age. I’m happy to say my saggy jowls are gone. I do sleep better. I get into deep sleep quicker and I get lots of REM sleep too that I monitor with my Apple Watch and UltraHuman Ring.
Atheltic tip: mouth tape during exercise to build extreme cardio endurance! Itll take a while to build, but i know there are Olympic runners who do this and arent gasping for air when they run
I’ve been mouth taping for over a year ,weird at first but now it’s just the norm. It’s made me more mindful of nasal breathing all the time. I like how it’s calming at night ,taking slow deep breaths through the nose. I can relate to so much in your video…eye mask ,sometimes ear plugs, mouth breather, dribbler, find the tape everywhere and prefer the smaller strip of tape!
My wife and I have tried this - who said romance is dead? I found it a bit claustrophobic to start with, but it has gotten easier. Benefits so far are no ‘death breath’ in the morning and my wife says she gets a free top lip wax everyday!
I am a nose breather but sometimes at night I notice how my mouth opens when sleeping on the back and I wake up from that. I noticed that I started to heavily prefer to sleep on the sides. Now it's not a problem. But sometimes I miss sleeping on the back 😂
I've been mouth taping a couple of years now. And I've noticed that my jaw muscles aren't as tight as they used to be, I'm guessing because I'm more relaxed and don't grind my teeth. But even better, I have little to no dental plaque forming,. Saliva protects the teeth. And a dry mouth isn't good for teeth. Weirdly, I never forget to tape my mouth at night. My body seems to know it's good.
I have vocal dysphoria and am encouraged to nasal breath. I've mouth taped for months. Love it. Dont mention it in public cos they'll think your bonkers.😅
On gosh I couldn't tape my mouth. Though I do get congested most nights. So I use a nasal spray before sleep and that helps me not breath they my mouth sometimes. I can definitely tell in the morning if I've breathed thru my nose all night or not.
I've been taping mine for a little long, my dental hygienist has said she's noticed a difference in my teeth and gum's. I can't stand the way that I feel when I forget to tape now.
Hmmmmm, perhaps. I found my mouth and throat aren't dry at all when mouth taping. In fact, when I don't do it it feels weird now. If you try it pleas let me know how you get on 🙏
I love this video! Yes, you wake up less often with a sore throat with a taped mouth because wide open mouths at night leave you vulnerable to illness in a way sleeping with a closed mouth does not. I have noticed less tgrost illnesses, definitely less dryness which can enhance throat pain, less jaw tension AND less neck tension since cervical and jaw issues are directly related, improved jaw line, less ADD symptoms since my prefrontal lobe isn’t getting hit up and over-stimulated with oxygen for 7-8 hours straight…Sleep is deeply improved. Been taping for 2 years now and my sleep suffers when I forget to do it!
Never heard of this. I know from having a camera down my throat via my nose that my right nostril top is extremely fine ( unable to pass the camera tube down) and the left side is also slim. On a good night I can nose breathe, but I often mouth breathe. I also can't start my sleep on my back as when I go to sleep in nearly bite my tongue off when I relax as I have an underbite- it's ok later in the night when I am fully relaxed ( weird I know). I only dribble badly when I have a cold or sinus problems. I don't think I would tape my mouth.
moved your teeth? when reading that I thought that was a good thing, then I saw the emoji. oh wow, Essence!!!! Have a wonderful, enriching and fulfilling journey 💫
@LauraTryUK teehee🤣, yes I my bottom teeth we're crooked and my lower jaw receded...lots of research to show mouth breathing to be a cause ... Just re watched your video, bless You for sharing🙏💜 can't wait though a little nervous🥰 Absolutely love All your vids 💚You are so kind, honest and generous Thank You🙏💚 Bev
An evening spent on youtube on the topic of mewing, I remember especially the case of the young boy who got some sort of pet rodent in his bedroom and was allergic to it, started mouthbreathing because of it and in years following his chin receded. Not a great look really! I think that when you're a backsleeper mouthbreathing comes easier. Now I try to correct my 7 y/o, gently turn him to a side.
I guess what you're saying is that you value your facial hair more than breathing through your nose? It is a choice, yours to make, I'm sitting here with 3 days' stubble so can't judge. 🤣 For some reason I'm thinking of velcro and whether there's any way to get your upper and lower lips to link whiskers?
Not sure about this one 😂 I use nasal strips and that has helped as I suffer from a blocked nose due my septum slightly bent, so slightly worried that this will leave me gasping for air 🤔
Brilliant timing. I'm currently reading "Breath". I started a couple of weeks ago and used the myotape but stopped as it triggered TMJ at one side which was the most excruciating episode I ever had (probably because I was trying to open it and I think my body got stressed). I switched rooms when family came to visit so the side I primarily slept on was different as I like facing the door. No real issues but I did remove it at some point during the night. I switch back rooms tomorrow night, so we will see 😂
Online marketer here... those $50 biohacker tape products are pure overpriced crap. This is why i hate matketing so much. Because they just want money so theyll capitalize on trends and gouge anything. Remember when barefoot running became popular in 2012 and suddenly a sandal with a single strip of leather was selling for $60? Same crap.
Have you tried creating a vacuum in you mouth? I do it every night before I go to sleep. Its real easy, just close your mouth and gently suck until you feel the vacuum. That's it and it's free.
I’ll have to try this. I’ve tried the acupressure mat and the b@ck brace for posture based on your videos and am pleased with both, so I’ll give this a try. I can benefit from a better nights sleep. Thanks
Not to say about night, but if you are conscious of your breath especially if you do pranayama then you can consciously keep your mouth shut and breath though nose throughout the day barring exercise. For night good experiment. I'll notice from now whether my mouth is dry or not when I wake up
@@LauraTryUK I tried them myself playing sport and wow they really open up the airwaves. Next time your out jogging and out of breath you can try mimic the nasal strip by pinching just below the main bone in your nose. Try breathing in and out through your nose like this and difference is pretty incredible.
Breathing through your mouth constantly is very bad for your teeth. I find that after I’ve had a cold, and hence a blocked nose, my gums bleed for a couple of days due to the increase in bacteria.
I've tried tape in the past, but I have facial hair and I wasn't sure if waking without the tape on my mouth was me taking it off, or if it fell off. I sometimes use my eye mask and my ear plugs. I don't have a consistent habit yet. I'm booked for a sleep test "consult" in a couple months. Apparently they're booked quite a ways ahead of time, originally I was booked 10 months out. Hopefully I'll get a sleep test to know exactly what I need - possibly a CPAP. I have a couple friends who've had good results with them. I'd like to get more than the 4-5 hours I usually get without waking.
I work in a sleep service in the NHS diagnosing sleep conditions and setting up patients on CPAP. If you have symptoms of sleep apnoea, CPAP can really make a whole world of difference - our patients often describe it as life-changing. Sorry that the wait has been so long. Glad you have an upcoming appointment, and hope you’re able to find out the cause ASAP so you start getting much better quality sleep. Best of luck to you!
I tape my mouth shut, tape my nose open with Breathe Rite strips, sometimes an eye mask and ear plugs, thus ensuring I will never have an affair.
😂😂😂
😅😅😅
😂
My beloved who is also mouth taped is similarly unlikely to have an affair. Another fun fact is the overwhelming desire to start a conversation right after I’ve put tape on.
That’s me in a nutshell 😂 - Earplugs, eye mask, nasal strip, mouth tape….not sure how I could look any weirder.

Thanks for sharing those funny places you found the tape! We all need a good chuckle!
Wow, 3 years! I love your humility in showing us your sleep videos and where the tape shows up 😄
I'm pleased you liked those clips 😂 a collection over time of the randoms places.
I wanted to try many times! The funny part for me is that I also use ear plugs and eye mask every night. Having additional tape on my face is like a full sleeping armor 😂
I _totally_ understand what you mean 😂

Love Nestor's books!! The one on free diving is especially amazing.
gotta try this. You are so inspiring and enjoyable to watch, Laura. thanks...
Thank you, ive never heard about this before. Really helpful to read other people's comments too. I'm gonna give it a go.
I had never heard of mouth taping. I learn something new from you all the time. 🙂

Found even with a cold the natural alternate nostril breath intake pattern has helped mitigate major snotty build up. It calms things down.

I was just about to go on this adventure - thank you so much for your tips regarding the tape!
Fascinating subject LT!!! 😊
I am a nose breather naturally and am so happy that I don’t have to do this! There are videos on nose breathing, as you know, Laura, and also ones on where to place the tongue all the time.
I have a deviated septum and can’t wait for my operation. Will be trying this once done. 👍🏼
Love your content :)
Fascinating topic! Thank you!
It’s also worth considering that not everyone is a natural nasal breather, and forcing it can make things worse.
been so curious about this!
Going to give it a try… thanks for sharing
I’ve those books! I started consciously nasal only breathing about 4 years ago so I naturally do that while sleeping and don’t tape. The body switches nostril dominance every few hours. I’ve found even with hayfever and a blocked nose I can still sleep with my mouth shut as I’ve adapted to breathe through one nostril! I also run nasal only - this took some work and I’m up to 4 miles. My heart rate is lower and runs feel easier. I still do a mouth breathe during intense exercises though.
I run and cycle nasally now too. The level of snot is immense though! Do you find this? I have a sweat band to constantly be wiping my nose on
After reading James Nestor's book I started mouth taping. It cured my sleep apnea. No longer do I wake up with a dry mouth and blocked nose.
I actually wanted to observe my dogs while they slept
But I realized that I was sleeping with my mouth open all night.
Since then, I’ve been consistently using the tape again :)
P.S.: I use a cheap roll of sports tape.
I’ve been doing it too! I love it - hello nasal breathing ❤️❤️
how long have you been doing it?
Any improvements in sleep?
Since 2021 - I think so, I feel I sleep better with it on. Sounds like we had a super similar experience. I even use the same cheap tape 🤣
Look at us - mouth tape buddies 😀
Will give this a go! I have a deviated septum, so not sure how I’ll get on 😬
I've thought about trying this for a while now. But it might be better to wait until after my pregnancy is over.
I've tried mouth taping, and I found the tape gave me dry lips.
I try again with lip balm.
Thanks for sharing this video.
But sometimes I miss sleeping on the back 😂
I don't do it since I normally already breath through my nose at night (and in general).
Pulling off the tape in the morning was so uncomfortable haha
Please make a video about the top books you found helpful. I bought an Artist Way after watching your video on it👍
I've taped my mouth for 10 years now also use earplugs and eye mask works great. I'm still single though😂
I sleep with tape over my eyes, nostrils, mouth, and ears. And I tape my hands to my feet. I get good sleep. I glue my hair down too.
On gosh I couldn't tape my mouth. Though I do get congested most nights. So I use a nasal spray before sleep and that helps me not breath they my mouth sometimes. I can definitely tell in the morning if I've breathed thru my nose all night or not.
I wear a mouth guard and have always been a mouth breather. I wonder how well I will fare with this!
Yup me too 😢
I've been taping mine for a little long, my dental hygienist has said she's noticed a difference in my teeth and gum's. I can't stand the way that I feel when I forget to tape now.
I wake up with a sore throat often. Hummm, maybe I should give this a try? 😮
Hmmmmm, perhaps. I found my mouth and throat aren't dry at all when mouth taping. In fact, when I don't do it it feels weird now.
If you try it pleas let me know how you get on 🙏
@@LauraTryUK Sure can!
No catching flys and spiders! haha
I use an elastic strap around my head with Velcro it holds my mouth shut when I sleep throat cancer twice lots of radiation and scar tissue
Been doing taping for years too..i use micropore...pretty certain the mouth breathing moved my teeth😢
Ps off to Essence this weekend 🎉💚💚💚
moved your teeth? when reading that I thought that was a good thing, then I saw the emoji.
oh wow, Essence!!!! Have a wonderful, enriching and fulfilling journey 💫
@LauraTryUK teehee🤣, yes I my bottom teeth we're crooked and my lower jaw receded...lots of research to show mouth breathing to be a cause ...
Just re watched your video, bless You for sharing🙏💜 can't wait though a little nervous🥰
Absolutely love All your vids 💚You are so kind, honest and generous Thank You🙏💚 Bev
Pro tip: wear a nose strip with mouth tape to help the process.
I bought a special mouth tape which has a vent area in the center... I haven't used it much... but I should
An evening spent on youtube on the topic of mewing, I remember especially the case of the young boy who got some sort of pet rodent in his bedroom and was allergic to it, started mouthbreathing because of it and in years following his chin receded. Not a great look really! I think that when you're a backsleeper mouthbreathing comes easier. Now I try to correct my 7 y/o, gently turn him to a side.
For me it was about posture, I never considered the actual breathing part!
Any ideas on how you can tape mouth if you have a mustache and beard?
I would imagine this tape would be ok - although it wouldn't stick to the skin, it would act as a reminder. I've seen other geared people do it.
@@LauraTryUK I have tried many times but my facial hair makes it impossible. I am mouth breather and would like to be nose breather.
shave
@@niamhc6312 Really?
I guess what you're saying is that you value your facial hair more than breathing through your nose? It is a choice, yours to make, I'm sitting here with 3 days' stubble so can't judge. 🤣
For some reason I'm thinking of velcro and whether there's any way to get your upper and lower lips to link whiskers?
Not sure about this one 😂 I use nasal strips and that has helped as I suffer from a blocked nose due my septum slightly bent, so slightly worried that this will leave me gasping for air 🤔
it's a weird one fro sure. I was pretty terrified when I started.
Interesting that you use nasal strips.
I switch back rooms tomorrow night, so we will see 😂
blindfolder, headset, mouth tape. It should be very scary to see you in the bed
I'm guessing the dribble coming out leads to the dry mouth and morning breath? Never tried this.. Do you feel loads better by doing it?
I feel a lot better doing it. However, I am a bad mouth breather during the night, so expect that's the reason why I get on with it.
@@LauraTryUKDo you worry about the chemicals from the take? I don't trust corporations at all.
I'll notice from now whether my mouth is dry or not when I wake up
I've always been a nose breather, I don't feel amazing?
Can you try an anti-snoring belt? I think it might give better results... or maybe not! Let's see!
Did you try those nasal strips too?
no, never appealed to me. I don't think I need them.
@@LauraTryUK I tried them myself playing sport and wow they really open up the airwaves. Next time your out jogging and out of breath you can try mimic the nasal strip by pinching just below the main bone in your nose. Try breathing in and out through your nose like this and difference is pretty incredible.
Weirdly I bite my nails in my sleep 🤷🏻♂️ so mouth taping has given me the best nails of my life 😂
Floor sleeping 👈No pillow 👈
If you are constantly talking you are likely mouth breathing . Nose breathing improves your listening ability.
Breathing through your mouth constantly is very bad for your teeth. I find that after I’ve had a cold, and hence a blocked nose, my gums bleed for a couple of days due to the increase in bacteria.
If you are sleeping with your mouth open listen to yiur gut and change your diet accordingly and you will sleep with your mouth closed.
