Yes, as long as the tolerances were held they should all be the same. They would just be ground together then every piece should fit every other. Edms are Extremely accurste, one of the most precise machines out there in the trade.
Are the Ona WEDM a ball screw motion vs linear? I are they split guides or encased guides? Also was the model on Mastercam brought in on a Parasolid? I noticed the radius’s are real choppy on the cut which could be from the model having B-splines and not a true arc, also ball screws can cause that. Or split guides. Another thing that could cause that is wire tension to high for a taper cut.
The AV35 is a ball screw machine and the guides are encased. The reason the part had noticeable facets is because the linearization tolerance in Mastercam was set too loose. It had nothing to do with the machine in this case.
@@mrt6399 Encased guides means the guides are a full diameter guide upper and lower. Split guides means the guides actually open up to allow for wire threading. They also allow different size wires to be used more easily. Where encased guides are a set size and need swapped out for wire diameter size changes. So split guides are easier for wire size changes but the trade off is finished can be a little less uniform (like radius or tapers) encased harder for wire size changes however they produce a better finish.

CAD cam system spits out a program. Then you tell the machine conditions. And it changes program. But it's basic G00, G01,G03. G41,G42. Then G51,G52 for taper. Getting tn tp is tricky sometimes.we use Bobcad.
I visited a place that could do this(to possibly work there) and they had everything you could think of, water jet, Ider how many axis milling, automated arms and stuff. It was honestly a little intimidating to me, but part of me always wonders why EDM wasn’t that interesting to me when I first saw it. So freaking cool. Sorta wish I did it but It’s never too late👍
If anyone ever watched The Day the Earth Stood Still, after the door closed on the spaceship, they couldn't see the join. In the early 50s, such engineering seemed impossible and "othervwordly". It seems as if we've finally arrived...
Can you imagine if somebody actually found one of these in perfect condition in 10,000 years that was made of gold or something? Make one of these out of each precious metal with a different design and put it in a lead box sealed in a tomb somewhere deep in a cave. Somebody will find it someday

Ive yet to see a good edm cut from these guys..

I love the copper dust finish on the parts
Thats not copper. Its rust and some deposit of the brass wire.

Incredible machine's n even better mind's to think of it n produced it !! 👍🏻👍🏻

A real technical marvel.
I don't fancy electronic dance music. But I would listen to the EDM 24/7.
I have only just found out about this technology and it is bloody amazing
great machinery.. i build moulds for cold blanking with a sodick edm. We cut steel to 70 HRC hardness. Satisfying.

Would the results after cutting need machining to remove any burrs?

Did so many of these during my Toolmaking apprenticeship days in South Africa

Machining is so cool. I have it as an elective but my instructor works full time at his main job so doesn’t teach us jack $h!t when at school, sucks…

That's a good question. I'm thinking at some level that it would mess with the temper.
Very little heat when not at the gap, its an inductive spark
