Maybe it my old stubborn ways but my Decker is still my choice just due to the versatility of it. Last weekend I packed burled logs with it. But this is a great upgrade.
I love to see this! I have the Ute V2 and wanted something with a little more space, but didn't want to bump all the way up to a 110L pack, so this definitely fits the bill
Love Hill People! I just wish they would look at different, waterproof material, like Ultra PE 400. Way more abrasion resistance than Cordora , waterproof and much lighter. These guys use to live in Alaska, I still do. Rain is a huge factor up here , as is the state bird, the mosquito 😂. Cordora will soak up water, making their light-ish packs heavy. If I lived in the Rockies, or anywhere besides rain soaked Alaska, their packs is all I would buy, period. Look into the company Sail Cloth Mr Evan. Please!
Our cordura is PU coated on the inside and DWR treated on the outside -- plenty waterproof. Not all cordura is created equal. As for weight savings, lighter fabrics are a negligible help in reducing pack weight as all of the weight is in webbing, zippers, and hardware. Every time I look at weight saving fabric, it ends up being a couple of ounces lighter and noticeably more expensive.
@@HillPeopleGear Awesome! I did not realize that about cordura. But I should have known you guys would have thought of this. Sounds like you are still looking into the newer materials and weighing the cost/weight/ practical applications, etc. That is awesome. I have the items in the cart. I need to choose now between the Decker platform and the Qui-Ya light. Probably get both. Your prices are incredibly fair considering what you get. And all American made! @@HillPeopleGear Not so much that, there are tons of videos out there on loading a pack. Maybe more of visual of setting up the prairie belt, shoulder straps, accessories, and adjusting the frame if needed.
Looks great, again a great Design. It is just to big for my intended use. I already have your Connor V2 Backpack vor EDC. Currently I am looking at the Ute as the perfect backpacking Pack for me. I would like to use the Connor V2 as a floating Pocket on the Ute. Is this possible? The Connor is just perfect for my Camera gear and it would be perfect If I could use it in conjunction with the Ute for travelling. Your Products are great and your RUclips Videos are very helpfull. I have both the Connor and the Ute and yes, you can use the Connor as a pocket on the Ute. You'll need to take off the shoulder harness, bend back the wings (so that they sit between the two packs) and remove the frame. So it's possible, but you will be adding a significant amount of weight to the Ute. Using one the pockets would be better, if you can make that work with the gear you want to carry. Hope this is of use to you.
@@M001706 Thank you for yor comment. It is always good to get feedback from people who have used the Equipment in the field. After I posted the question here I also contacted the people at HPG via mail and got an answer a few hours later. Great customer Service. So I got the Ute a few days ago. And I am quite happy with the first impression of the Ute and Connor combination. I removed the framesheet of the Connor before I attached it. The first impression looks promising and I think it will perform well under a full load. For me the Connor is the perfect daypack/pocket for the Ute because its width works perfectly with the Camera gear from TasmanianTiger. Which hast a velcro Back and I can Mix and Match my Lens Holsters for my current needs and attach them in the Connor.
Not really. It can be made to work, but wouldn't be as robust or as load capable. I do have an idea for a Prairie Belt light which might cut 4oz. Could be worth it for some.

Although, I do prefer 'uh-LUE-min-um' over 'ow-lue-MIN-ee-um' 😃 There is no extra 'i' between the 'n' and the 'u', so I just don't understand where the 'ee' sound is coming from at the end in the British pronunciation. Or it is one of those things where they actually spell it differently across the pond? (i.e. color vs. colour)

Great pack design. The Qui-ya V2 is slightly more (volume) pack than I need and this may work better for me. Really like the slant cut wand pockets!

Can you use a recon belt with this?
