As someone who doesn’t know much yet about Hill People Gear this video was really good to explain what things are, the differences, the purpose and reasons, etc. something that lots of companies are generally bad at. Thank you!
Holy crap! I've been a HPG fan and customer for many years and I've purchased many products. But I think I learned more from this video than I did from a decade of using your stuff! I finally "get" what the Decker is and why it might be chosen. Awesome! Please do a similar video explaining the pockets, too!🤘🙏
I've had a decker for two years now and was looking at the qui-ya for a back country hunt. Nice to know I can do it all with the decker. Thanks for the breakdown, I love Hill People Gear!
I've been running my Decker for a year now. It is great! My absolute go-to. I have tried a LOT of packs over the years, and the Decker is it. Thanks for putting together the absolute best stuff HPG!
This is a great video. Really helpful in the possibilities of this large pack system. So versatile, which makes it a little more complicated, but for good reasons. Can you show us how you carry rifles (more details and with your rifle pouch) on these packs in a future video? great products! best
You all continue to differentiate yourselves from your “perceived” competition. This is a great video and one I’ve been trying to figure out for a while. Thank you!
I haven’t been able to find a good metal insert backpack, I’ve been using my dads one from Europe for deep tracking. It’s falling apart, I’m gonna have to check these. Thank you for the clear, concise explanation & thoughtful approach to gear. 🤙🏻
Really like my Ute, load distribution with the harness and prairie belt is very comfortable. Great gear! Heavy duty stuff is worth the weight if it is done right and comfortable... you don't have to worry about a random stick on the trail or single spark from the fire ruining the fabric.
I can attest these are no joke!! I got the decker with the pocket. My friend said it not big enough until I dropped a 55l dry bag in the load carrier. Feels great on the hips. What holsters do you use?? Great company and great gear.
Excellent breakdown of your large pack and pack frame systems. My Ute and Tara are awesome separately and together although I find the Tara not quite big enough for day use and the Ute to big. Wondering if the Decker with a pocket and a couple pack bags would be a more versatile system, Nate
Question about the decker pack frame: Can you vertically stack something like a dry bag with a sleep system in the bottom of the pack board with a separate day bag on top of the dry bag so it’s two separate components stack vertically?
In order for me to buy a Decker Pocket, i need to order also a Decker Frame or the Decker Pocket will come with the frame included? Thanks and God bless 🙏
16:58 You say the Qui-Ya and Ute will be more efficient, but the specs says Qui-Ya 6.25lbs, Ute 5.5lbs, Decker Pack Frame 4.0lb and Decker Packbag - Large 1.12lbs (total 5.12lbs). So specs say Decker Frame + Large packbag is lighter than even the Ute, and is larger than the Qui-ya 100L vs 90L. I'm confused how this can be when the Pack Bags are pretty much the same as their packs, and the Decker Frame has additional fabric.
@@anywhereroam9698 the first line of the Decker Frame description says "5lbs including the Prairie Belt that you need to make this pack complete". So a Ute size Decker is around 6lbs - half a pound heavier than a Ute. As far as Decker vs. qui-Ya, it's not quite apples to apples because the qui-Ya has 2" of extra frame height over the decker.
@@HillPeopleGear ah thanks, I wasn’t counting the weight of the belt with the Decker. In the specs of the Ute 5.5lbs, is that counting the belt? Thanks for pointing out the frame height differences not making it apples 🍏 to apples 🍎
@@danadair1349 Lindi without belt might be the hardest of our packs to fit properly, particularly for taller folks. Only because getting it right goes against the grain of how most folks are used to fitting a pack. It really is a large lumbar pack, not a backpack -- even when worn without a belt. I would love to see a flow chart of what fits with what on your website. It would really help in putting together a full system.

Definitely a decker system in my future
Man, this answered a ton of questions I've had floating around in my head about the modularity of the Decker Frame and accessories. Good Stuff!
I love my AHBC. Helped me during continuous 75km ruck to honor those who freed Europe at the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Love the brand, the products and the story behind it all… will always use and rate HPG 💪 very well done. Wish it was more available in the UK
Great explanation of the HPG large pack system!
Incredible! Thanks Evan!
Great products 😀 I'll be buying one for my husband.
Thanks for the review.
That was a super informative video. Love you guys
Hardest part with choosing bags from y'all...is I like all of them 😂

Yes
Love frame shape but can't stand top load only. I went with Elberstock G4 operator. There Elk pack is similar. Top load and face load.
Our Aston House BC is a panel loader. It has dual stays and a framesheet but isn't quite as load capable as these larger packs.
@@HillPeopleGear thanks! I'll check it out.

You need Decker Frame, Prairie Belt, and Decker Pocket
At 8:40 what size Sea To Summit dry bag is that? Is that attached to the Tall or Medium Decker Frame?
65l big river dry bag on the medium frame
@@HillPeopleGear Thanks!
8:40 how many L is that S2S dry bag? 60L?
Will I need to purchase repair buckles to attach the pack pockets onto the frame or does the frame (or pack pockets) come included?
The buckles on the center portion of the Decker frame are repair buckles so they can be moved to pockets.
Would the aston panel work on this pack as the center yoke?
The Aston Panel is compatible with all the packs in this video.
@@HillPeopleGear cool! Thanks for the answer! The website didn’t say anything about the aston panel being compatible.
