Man oh man I am digging this series Tim. The BEST damn retic info I've ever seen on YT. Thanks again for the hard work and dedication. Take care, keep 'em coming. 👍🏾🪖🦅🇺🇸
Some great advice in this video. The two tier hot-spot and warm and cool hide rule should be a near universal rule for most reptile species. I see so many keepers not allowing for this and I think sometimes this has to do with enclosure size being sub optimal. Also some very excellent points regarding socialisation rules which certainly should dictate maximum size whilst your socializing a large reptile. One thing you did bring up is that final enclosure size should be partly dependant on how much enrichment and exercise you offer to the animal, if thats daily or even weekly for a an extended amount of time that really reduces the need for a massive indoor enclosure. There are some big snakes that live in an 8 x 4 that have never even seen a tree let alone climbed one.
I think with husbandry there are guidelines but it ultimately comes down to the snake when we're talking about space vs hides and size of enclosure and the species matters of course. Great video! I hope you have a series planned for us boa guys. Im REALLY looking forward to that!
Out here in Arizona, I pretty much MUST use Cypress Mulch, or I have no chance of keeping the humidity up, not b even with a big humidifier cranking. Too bad, since it would be so much cheaper to use paper!
I totally would've called the fire department to come get my massive snake out of the tree. You need a set of old fashioned monkey bars in your garden! 😂
Can I talk you into putting some branches in for your ball to climb around on? Mine is also in an aquarium style tank, and he LOVES to climb! Yours is trying to climb right now! I think she would enjoy it.
It's been so long since I've added one, plus I build a lot of my own that I'm not up to speed with producers, I do have a friend Chris Salisbury at gorgans head that does some great work
I don't look down upon anyone but and I'm in the process of trying to get a house and doing it myself the bigger the better I know you'll get arguments with some BS but the fact of the matter is if we want the privilege to keep these animals we look a heck of a lot better as a community if they're in large enclosures putting snakes in drawers AKA rack systems mind you I have a four drawer rack that I am completely trying to cycle out so like I said I need to do better too because I don't even think my ball pythons belong in that and tiny cages does not look good for any of us my point being I'm not jumping down anyone's throat but we all need to do better myself included once we stop evolving and become stagnant in keeping we have totally failed our animals and you're talking to a guy who practically wears his work boots until they fall off to give my animals everything they need I don't own my snakes they own me and they mean the world to me

Thank you for the feedback and the kind words Kevin, it's massively motivating when these are well received!
Thank you for placing an importance on the building of a relationship with the animal
Sadly I dont have enough room to house a retic, but maybe one day I get myself a super dwarf.

Another killer video 👌🏼

Are you going to do a ball python series?
Yup, ultimately I plan to do a series on everything that I keep then e pending from there
Do you have any california kingsnakes? Would love to see one of those as well
Awesome, Thank you so much
how do you keep humidity high enough with paper?
I keep a large water tub they can fully get into, ambient humidity of 55% and spraying enclosures
@@IntrepidExotics Thanks for taking the time to reply. Love your videos and what you do for your community
Well done a good video
I love the retic series thus far mate. Great resource for a new retic owner like myself
Love that shirt.
Jeje muy bien
I don't even dare scroll down and look at the comments. People lose their everloving crud over other people's alleged "abusive" husbandry. 🙄
