This is a nice addition to the studio recordings found anywhere. I'd like to re-live my 60's experiences, but with less doubt, more grass, and tie-dye for sure.
Very true to the legend of Iron Butterfly, definitely the trending psychedelic American rock of late 60's decade! Organist/ songwriter Doug Ingle rest well, my eternal friend.
i thought it was pretty cool how they were in the middle of butterfly bleu and at 52:44 a great big swallowtail goes flying through. it just made the song even more worth playing in the car more often, i always knew about in a gadda da vida because my older brother bought the album when it came out and we had bunk beds when we were kids but that was the only iron butterfly album he ever bought, i heard butterfly bleu for the first time a few years ago live in 1971 in sweden? so as soon as i had a smart phone i started putting songs on the sd card i have listened to butterfly bleu looped i can't get enough of that song. but it has to be the live 1971 version its just the best song i ever heard, well that and nantucket sleighride the live version oh what has happened to music? it is nothing and i will never like anything put out after 1984
i posted this a year ago, i found it again stopped it 15 minutes in to see who was an original member playing here in this incarnation of the band iron butterfly and there are no original, members... so this isn't iron butterfly as introduced this is some guys who may have played with one of the originals and are now calling themselves iron butterfly
This is better than having nothing because the original members died or are sick. But I promise that I will record my covers as close to the originals.

Martin has played with too many people to list here including touring and recording with Vanilla Fudge just to name one. Check out his solo CD and book...he has had an amazing career ! Thanks for this musical trip down memory lane guys !

Zero problems for me on the musicianship displayed in this performance. Actually I think the instrument playing is fantastic. It's the vocals that I think are lackluster for sure. Doug Ingle's voice can't be replaced by anyone I can think of. Maybe someday they will find that person and everyone including the band will benefit. Constructive criticism for sure.
I frankly expected worse singing.... Something like on "Scorching Beauty" ;-) I loved the setlist a lot, as my favourite I.B. LP has always been "BALL".
And who cares. This version was still great and also will be. And it was Authorized by Ron Bushy (who have to retired from touring for illness but still occasion played as a guest) and Eric Barnett (gtr) and Martin Gerschwitz (key) was a long time members of Ron Bushy Iron Butterfly era. But to be honest. Because of IB no longer relased new music and albums after mid 70s and became touring band it makes people still stuck with their "In a gadda da vida" era. If they have released new works I think at least people would know their new members more than this (Eric Barnett was the most underrated guitarist ever). But then, it can't be helped. But in ME Generation. People nowadays always expected the original members, classic members or favorite members to be staying with the band forever. Never get old, injury, ill or death. It was impossible.
@@Ram44 It's unfortunately that he falling out with Doug and left IB after IB first album released. And to this day he maybe the only IB alumni members who still released and contributed his guitar works on any new project. On his own or as a sideman.

Currently Ron Bushy was still own the band named and trademark (According to Iron Butterfly Collective Facebook Group that Ron and currently IB members still active) so he's still run the band from the background and the band / band members still contact with him. So far people was understanding and support them. If you don't like it go complaining them in their official facebook page or sued them as a fraud. But I like them. And I don't think you're their true fans or open mind enough to accept any changes.
This is a really excellent sounding band. I own all the original released IB vinyl from the 60's/70's, CDs & lossless boots. I'd pay to hear them play as long as they stick to the original recordings. Cool they are keeping the music of IB alive for younger generations to hear live! But not having any original members from the band line up from the 60's, to me the name should reflect that, even though they have the blessings of original member Ron Bushy - Rock on Iron Butterfly!
If anything, Doug Ingle IS IRON BUTTERFLY!! He's the voice that made the band. Ron lucked out with a drum solo that every other drummer on the planet could do. DON"T DISRESPECT THE REAL BAND BY FALLING FOR THIS FAKE...
I have a ton of live recordings as well. It's a passion.... but with no original members, I may as well record the band down the street who are playing an IB song...

I was thrilled to meet Lee Dorman and Ron Bushy in '99. I was playing with David Alan Coe and we were staying in the same hotel. I caught Lee as he was going to bed but i thanked him for his band "Captain Beyond". Also in '84 i met Mike Panera in LA.

This opening number is a loose cover of The Iron Butterfly Theme, a track from IB's first album, Heavy. Though they don't have a bad sound, it personally doesn't remind me of IB's sound. I think this band would present better, if they represented themselves more as an IB tribute band, or as a band INSPIRED by IB.
"A Concert of Iron Butterfly Music" is a more genuine title for this with 3 of the 4 members of the original classic lineup deceased and not one of them here !!!###
Gas Iron Butterfly was one of my favorite bands as soon as I looked at this I said dang I thought they were all dead the thing is they all do it Three Dog Night only has one original singer Corey is dead and Chuck is out doing his own thing The Guess Who the only original guy is the drummer

If he owned the name and rights of use, will they continue to call themselves IRON BUTTERFLY, or finally admit they are a so-so tribute band? @@mulemusic As I said before, This is the older bands common big mistake to "not released anything new" on that time they are still able to do despite they have many talent alumni joining on their past. They tried to do many times but later scrapped it, shelved it (It sad that on late 80s era (1989) Rhino/Dorman/Brann/Suarez/Hilland/Feldman lineup performing their new songs in live and later tried to making new album with Robert Tepper (who in 90s replaced Steve Feldman and Erik Brann now left) they was another best lineup ever. But they shelved again) It's sad to see their once creativity band choose to become touring only band despite they have a potential to do something great. With or without Doug. But at least as I read your comment one thing I like is. You are accepted members in the recording era, not stuck on only original, founding, favorite members like (example) some people who still bash that "No Terry Kath no Chicago" for nearly 40-50 years.

Very good but this is not Iron Butterfly. At least this band has nothing to do with the one which gave us IN-A-GA-DA-DA-VI-DA and METAMORPHOSIS.
