- See aerial views of some of the areas of the massive Crewe railway network that I've not covered on previous videos.
The DRS class 37's have been stabled in the coal yard over Christmas and NY after their autumn exploits on the Yorkshire RHTT circuit.
See the locos on DRS Gresty Bridge including 37069, 37218 & 37423, prior to their collection by new owner Europhoenix.
See a brief look at the rear of LSL's depot and yard also which has an amazing and rapidly growing collection of heritage locos and rolling stock.

422 looks nice now she's clean
Amazing
Great video, 👏
Its like lookin at your own model railway
Great fan of your presentations.
Glad you like them! 🙏👍
Great video, thank you!
Fabulous coverage thanks 🤩
Great video as usual 👍
Great video, but those 197s in store want scrapping!
They’re just being put into service
I dont know how far travelled you are, but a fly over of Polmadie TRSMD in Glasgow would be much appreciated, and enjoyed 😊
I’ll do my best for you - I’ll try and get there over the next few weeks 👍
i wonder just how many class 37s are left that are up and running for commercial daily use and the others that are being used as donor vehicles for parts and the ones that are in preserved railways societys.
Not many mate. Watched a video the other day stating that eventually all class 37’s that remain in service will be sold off
@@liamtomlinson4901depends what you consider not many, colas have 7 and operate 3 hired from Harry Needle and another 3 from Network Rail (So basically 13)
DRS still currently have 6 37s (Although 424 isn’t operational I don’t think and they are soon selling them I think)
Europheonix now have 10 (7 operational and 3 recently bought from DRS and going to be returned to operation)
WCR locos are also often used for route proving
, it also depends if you count LSL (Tour company but they are for profit) that adds another 6 atleast
Overall I would say Europheonix and Colas are the ones who now run 37s most often especially colas (used daily)
Sorry for the long reply btw 😂
@@liamtomlinson4901 but would you say sold off for scrap or bought by private individuals or bought up by preservation rail societies?
I can’t find info on condition but off of ukraillog I count about 50 mainline owned, 40 preserved
New year new intro
Too much time on my hands over Christmas and not enough time behind the camera.. 😜👍
Atleast 4 of the Transpennine class 68’s are making use
Is there a A3/A4 water tender in the back of LSL’s shed?
Another lovely video well done great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Excellent video so thanks for sharing. You refer to the sidings as Crewe Coal Yard which is actually a location approx 1/2 mile to the north of Cewe station on the WCML where there used to be signalbox of the same name. Is the location used by DRS Crewe Coal Siding?
Hi John, hope you’re well. I’m aware of the location you mention to the north of the station also. The area used by DRS for the nuclear storage and where these class 37’s is known as the DRS coal yard also.. I’m not sure of the full history however they’re definitely separate locations 👍
@@trainsplanes thanks mate. The reason I asked is that the flask traffic to/from Bridgwater is from/to a location called Crewe Coal Sidings which is how the location is shown in my LM Track Maps book. I used to live in Crewe and having been in the south west since 2010 wondered where the DRS traffic originated from so your video was very helpful in that respect. It also brought back many happy memories as the Gresty Bridge (Lane ) area is where I did most of my trainspotting as a youth living close by. In those days the original buildings now part of the DRS depot was a wagon works and in the background is the Mornflake Oats (now Morning Foods) factory adjacent to which was a spur down to a Western steam shed.
You can tell which locos have been on leaf-busting duty, looks like they've returned from Mordor
Can I ask, how you get on flying over the network like this ?…..do you need permission ? Great video 😊
Have a look at the CAA drone rules - Different rules apply to different categories/sizes of drone 👍
Hi If you dont mind can you tell me where you are using for take off landings ?
I use 5 separate locations - Your best bet is to research the local area yourself for any drone flights based on what you want to see and maintaining VLOS. 👍
Does anyone know why class 68’s don’t work much? They seem reliable, but seem to see very little work
The workload expected of them doesn’t seem to have appeared
A lot of 68’s with very little to do.
Great video👍
