Hi Bruce , after many years of using electric mowers I finally decided to purchase a Brigs & Stratton motor mower 3 years ago and thank goodness I did . Things are a lot easier now and your "How To " repair style video's have been an asset to me . Many thanks and keep up the work . - - Jeff in North East England .
very informative video. Im probably going to have to order a new pump for mine as well, but i do enjoy tinkering with old equipment to. FYI in your video it looked like you were missing an o-ring and a ring on the internal valve piston of the loader valve. Keep up the good work I enjoy watching your videos
How's she goin'? A new pump and you're good. The pump turns out to be the most expensive part of the whole machine these days. Thanks for taking us through this repair Bruce!!!
@@BrucesShop It seems like the trash pile pressure washer is usually good motor / bad pump, so pump repair is a topic I would tune in for. Of course, if it froze and cracked the casting, that is an easy one. It was nice your pump fell off after the last bolt was removed, mine was like separating conjoined twins. obviously no anti-seize was used in that assembly.
Great stuff just subscribed. I snapped my inlet pipe and can't see any threads to place a new one. Should I weld, try a plumbing glad or just buy new pump

They're so sensitive to so many different variables, that nailing a single issue down is often more time consuming and cost preventative than just replacing the pump. I just got one in where the owner said, if the pup is bad, just keep it for the engine and trash the rest. So I've got a great 5.5hp Briggs OHC horizontal shaft as a back up for my log splitter now. Cheers my Friend, and it was a gallant effort to try and save the original pump unit! Sean~
Well my fall goal is to fix some pumps. I know it may not be financially viable but I have to try. If i can try that would be cool. I am working toward internal repairs. More to come i hope. Maybe I can get enough parts around here to move forward with used parts :-0
Hey Bruce got the same issue as you engine shuts off unless I hold down the trigger but I got pressure when it gets up and going but as soon as I let go of the trigger it shuts off, its the same Engine and pump I have put in a new Unloader valve not really sure what to set the setting to.. I can not find a video or info on how to adjust that particular unloader valve hoping for some suggestions I cant afford new pump!
OK i will have to update my comments. I bought it at Princess Auto in Canada. If your in the States just google pressure pump for 190cc engine and got this www.amazon.com/YAMATIC-Vertical-Pressure-Washer-Replacement/dp/B07KMXLBT9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=13ZIZA0ABFCY3&keywords=pressure+pump+for+190cc+engine&qid=1669336085&sprefix=pressure+pump+for+190cc+engine%2Caps%2C211&sr=8-3
I managed to repair my 190cc Brigs Stratton pump, changing oil seals, water seals for custom made polystyrene ones, I changed the plastic non-return valves in the piston chamber, it has good pressure, but I have a problem or a I would like to clarify if possible, in these engines the carburetor has an idle speed (screw), in this equipment it never goes into idle speed, in another one I had when I released the trigger, the engine braked and the governor acted, it pulled the carburetor throttle and lower the revs until I opened the trigger again and accelerated, I thought that was its normal function. but not in this equipment, how should the engine work normally? Is it always running at 3600rpm? thank you
Bruce I had a similar washer where the pump lost pressure. I took the pump apart and found that the plastic(maybe nylon) piston (valves) had cracked and broke. The simoniz washer was a 2600psi pump with a 6hp Mitsubishi Engine horizontal shaft. I could not fine any replacement parts kit for the pump, but, kits for similar pumps would have cost Me around $90.00cnd...........crazy. A new pump would cost between $150 to 260. So I bought a new Simoniz 2700psi washer from Canadian Tire for $299 on sale. This pressure washer had more features than my old one. MUCH BETTER deal than replacing the bad pump and I got new engine hose nozzles spray bottle etc. I also now have a perfect 6hp motor to play with ha ha.
I usually order the replacement pumps on Amazon.ca for between 140-170. It sounds like a lot but these are AR pumps with Honda or Briggs engines.. Good going on the new one.
Nice fix, works great! I was hoping it was just the bypass valve or something cheap and simple too, you sure gave it a good try. I always run RV antifreeze through mine at the end of every season, don't know if that's right or not but it's made it 10 years (and it was old when I bought it).
You are right the pump save has lubricant in it but more expensive. He did have a simple fix he just looked at the wrong thing. All he had to do is replace the little plastic white valves ($15) inside head of the pump and would have fixed everything. He went the expensive rout. What happens is without the antifreeze the water freezes and destroys the plastic valves that's why yours is lasting.
I've trashed-picked 3 pressure washers this month alone...people use them but don't store them properly here in Florida. I fixed the first one with replacing the green spray tip with a new one...$4.00 fix. The other ones have stinky fuel so I predict some carb issues and no biggie on those repairs. Ok I just googled pressure pump for vertical shaft 1900 cc engine and got this. It is a canadian site . Something about 3000 psi and 2.5 GPM will work great. any idea how to get the ball bearing out thats stuck in where the unloader? ive tried air pressure and blowing through the other inlets still stuck in. im letting it soak over night in some PBlaster
Reviving a seized mower is 60% successful in my mind. I think you know the drill. Oil in the cylinder overnight, break it loose and go ahead slowly. Replacement motors if done with a used one are about 2 things, Shaft length and Shaft length. LOL. except the Honda's most will fit onto the frame.
Bruce Pender thanks i saw the video on trying to unsieze the engine, but this is a very unique engine to replace, horizontal shaft that comes out the top
I read an article some time back and the author commented that the factory lubricant used in most Chinese pumps was horrible stuff. He suggested that before installing a new pump, to dismantle it and clean it out well and replace the factory lubricant with a known high quality product. I don't know that much about these pumps Bruce. Do you think that is possible? It seems like a very logical thing to do in the light of Chinese manufacturing practices.

Hope you find a way to repair these pumps. I have worked on them too and more times than not I have to do just what you did----replace the pump. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to buy another pump. There are a lot of vertical shaft motors for sale on Craigslist that were once pressure washers. I wonder what the expected life of one of these obviously cheaply made pumps is. I doubt it is much. They truly are junk in my book. However, if you find a why to repair (and I will be watching) that could be a game changer for me. There are two uploaders, the other one is in the high pressure outlet tube. Sorry, I meant unloaders, so that's what it says on the manual parts listing.
@@BrucesShopYes Sir, just today, I've never messed around a pressure washer, let alone a gas powered one, picked one up last week for $30, I could not ever pullout the cord, but I've never been afraid to do something I've never done before, I like to understand how somethings work so I can repair it myself, I have years experience working with my hands, my hands and I make a very good team, I sound like I know nothing when I talk about what I'm doing, so I let my hands do what my mouth can't, repairing and fixing things, so I did a tear down and cleaned everything and put it all back together, of course I always find someone as yourself and download a manual to make it a successful project, so about the one in the high pressure outlet, you unscrew that outlet tube and when that is out, you take your flashlight and look down that hole, and you'll see the other unloader, if that's what it even is called, and you need a flat head screwdriver and start to screw it outwards ,but to make it come out you have to connect the water supply hose and turn it on, but tapping on the outlet while holding your hand partly over the opening, so when it does come out it doesn't go shooting out, because it's three parts, and in the middle of it will be a really thin, fine spring, I could understand if that is clogged and all calcium it would be a problem restricting the water coming out of the high pressure outlet, work hard, live long.
Good evening Bruce, a timely video on your part as I've come across a similar pressure washer that seems to not have survived one of our Canadian winters. I have taken the pump apart but have thought from the onset that changing it would be best. I've done some research for a replacement Annovi Reverberi but they're quite expensive. I'll be keeping my eyes open for a sale at Princess Auto. Thanks, Chris Gatineau, Quebec

Funny I just did the same exact thing on my Troy-Bilt, I thought for sure it was the unloader valve, so I took it off, cleaned it out just like you did, put it back together I would have bet money it would work, and nothing, I just ordered a new unloader but don’t really think that’s the problem cause it was moving freely but we’ll see , if not, whole pump assembly next and if that ain’t it, new pressure washer, I spent enough time and money, it’s replace, not repair these days
Never run a pump with hot water in the water hose laying in the yard. Run the hose with cold water then hook to the pressure washer. The hot water will melt the pladtic valves inside the pump.
Sing it Merle! EZ style pumps come out under the spark plug, SX come out under the rear of the engine. Notice this is an SX style. Your viewers will notice the 3 legs are not equidistant from each other. When replacing a pump always verify the style. Also note the max pressure shown on the machine is BS, just like hp. Refer to the label on the pump for specs. Bruce, did you buy an AR pump? They are pricey. My neighbor brought over a Troy Built pw with a Honda GVC190. It’s marked 3000 psi, 2.7 gal pm. Pump sticker says 2800 and 2.5. The pump input shaft apparently failed, causing the end of the crankshaft to overheat, causing the bottom seal to fail, resulting in a seized engine. That’s what I think. Anyway, I got it for parts. He even gave me the hose, wand and pressure tips! Pressure washers are a hard to sell item, being the pain in the ass they are. Good job, and thanks for the shout out!
Yes i bought an AR pump but if you look closely nowadays they are made in P.R.C. Sad EH!!!. They are still better than anything else you can buy. As well I have purchased some pump valve kits. I want to fix this one and one more with brass valves. It will take some time though i have to do it before the hoses freeze up in the yard LOL.

@@BrucesShop it fired right up and was the best $30 I've spent on a man's toy.
Thanks Champ.
No worries!
Good evening Bruce,
a timely video on your part as I've come across a similar pressure washer that seems to not have survived one of our Canadian winters. I have taken the pump apart but have thought from the onset that changing it would be best. I've done some research for a replacement Annovi Reverberi but they're quite expensive. I'll be keeping my eyes open for a sale at Princess Auto.
Thanks,
Chris

Funny I just did the same exact thing on my Troy-Bilt, I thought for sure it was the unloader valve, so I took it off, cleaned it out just like you did, put it back together I would have bet money it would work, and nothing, I just ordered a new unloader but don’t really think that’s the problem cause it was moving freely but we’ll see , if not, whole pump assembly next and if that ain’t it, new pressure washer, I spent enough time and money, it’s replace, not repair these days
Great effort there sir.
WTG Bruce!
Thanks Mr. Lawyer.
You going to rip a part the old pump and see where it failed. By the way good video Bruce.
I may make a video
Great job sir
Hey thanks EB. I am drinking a coffer out of my cup as we type!!!
@@BrucesShop hows your weather sir hopefully cooler its been in 90s here
@@ebfromwyoming4118 Well it is going to freeze tomorrow night. We need it somewhere between what you and i have.
Beautiful petunias!
Thanks Somebody noticed. It is late in the years here. they only have days before the first evening frost.
Never run a pump with hot water in the water hose laying in the yard. Run the hose with cold water then hook to the pressure washer. The hot water will melt the pladtic valves inside the pump.
Thanks. Great tip
Ahh the ole 13/16 in my Maxwell Smart voice !!
AHH the old 31/32
@@BrucesShop lol
Could have changed out the plastic valves inside the head for 15 bucks would have fixed it.
I have had trouble with that
@@BrucesShop Good to know
Shame it was the pump in the end eh. But shes sweet now.
Thanks. A few more pumps are in the wings.
Nothing like being prepared, especially when making a video.
I am never that prepared as I don't know what i will find next.
Beaumont = Chevelle, Canso = Nova Acadian to Chevrolet conversions.
Right I had an Avon. I am dyslexic. LOL
Actually Novas were called Beaumonts until 1964 when the Chevelle took the name in Canada and all Chevy II/Nova's started to be called Canso's.
I did have a 65 Chevy II Nova Then a 68 Camaro, Then a 2 door 71 Bel Air
Are you sure you're Canadian, Eh??

No very good job you don't show how to remove full pump that is the hardest part 👎
At 18:16 you see the pump fell off after i undid the 3 bolts.
