First of all thank you for this! The dealer quoted me $900 to replace the TCM but I wasn't convinced it was bad based on what I was doing when it failed. I was replacing my radio in a 2011 Fiesta and after reconnecting the negative battery terminal it said that I had a bad TCM. I did three things: Replaced the battery as it was almost 5 years old. Removed paint from all ground contacts near the battery. (from this video >> ruclips.net/video/eh8PIL5E_6M/видео.html) And finally, followed your steps. The only thing I did differently in the end was I clicked on "Clear DTCs" instead of the trash can and that did the trick in the end. Thanks again Sending you a few bucks for sure! :)
Fascinating... Possibly a similar problem with mine. So maybe I should copy the firmware and reflash into the existing TCM before I purchase a new or refurb one? Sounds like yours was a reflash, not an actual TCM failure.

@diagmind I've programmed the old tcm once for practice and to give it the newest firmware. That even helped the old tcm some. Plus, I recalibrated everything from a new clutch and seals. However, tonight, I finally had the time to install the new tcm. As I write this the firmware is installing on new tcm. Well see how things fare over the next week. It's generally good even with the old tcm until I hit traffic. Long periods of traffic were causing a loss of even numbered gears and reverse.

Hello dear, good morning, I am from Argentina, I bought a remanufactured and programmable TCM kit for a ford focus, my auto technician cannot program a new VIN in the TCM so that it works in the ford focus. What can be the solution? Thanks in advance for your time
HI there, I saw your video on youtube about TCM programming . So i got a few ford fiesta tcm and mazda 3 tcm. How can I test if they are programmed properly and if they need any programming how can i do it. I can buy the hardware and softwares needed. My biggest concern is how do I diagnose/ program the tcm without fitting the tcm to the car. I saw a lot of videos on youtube where they plug the J-box to the car to diagnose/ program. I would be happy if you can help me out to .
If I get a TCM from a salvage/junk yard do I have to do any type of flash/reset on the used TCM before/while replacing it, or could I just do all steps you do?
The steps listed will get you where you need to go. If it’s the same model (focus vs fiesta) and close in year you could possibly skip the programming and just do adaptive learn. But it won’t hurt to do the whole process. Just be careful with junkyard TCMs. Dying batteries kill TCMs frequently and most cars in junkyards have dead batteries from sitting. If you get the TCM to work at all, you’ll be lucky if it lasts you more than a few months. I’d advise you to just bite the bullet and get a rebuilt dorman unit with a lifetime warranty. After my junkyard TCM failed I went that route. The dorman one has had some iffy symptoms after about 8 months and it wasn’t too much of a hassle to get it replaced if they’re in stock.
Okay thank you, I just replaced the TCK this morning, and I got a code U0101 and said IPC no communication to TCM. Will the program fix this or could it be something else?
Hello Drew, I had already put new TCM. So, should I put the old one back to do this whole process? Or, is there a way to reprogram the new TCM w/o the info from the old one? Thanks
I was told by the forscan team to read the software version off the old TCM before replacing. Granted, you can probably just upload the most current software available for the TCM in forscan and you’ll probably be okay. Worst case scenario if it doesn’t work you can swap your old TCM back in to check what software is on it and go from there.
thanks for your great video. i know your busy but im hoping you can answer a couple questions for me. 1. when i click the computer chip the TCM is not on the list at all, so i cant update anything. 2. i was able to run the adaptive learn program just fine to a point. When i get to (shift drum adaptive learning) its says ok, but the very next one (select gears) the program hangs up, the percentage bar will go to 100% then back to 50% over and over. after about an hour of it doing this, i just shut it down. do you think this is a transmission problem or tcm problem? the tcm is still under warranty but if i bring it to the dealer and its the transmission they will charge me 300 just for the diagnostics. i can get a transmission for 150 at the salvage yard, so i really dont want to waste $300. i would love your opinion, thx
Make sure you’re using the 2.4.X (I think its 7 currently) beta version to be able to program the TCM. As far as the other issue goes, it could be an issue with your TCM but it’s hard to say. Same steps as the video for a used TCM. TCM isn’t married to a vin or anything. The most “vehicle specific” thing about a tcm is the adaptive learn, where it figures out the exact touch points on your clutches based on wear.

Not sure, maybe the tcm needs the software wiped off and start from scratch. If you order a brand new tcm, they come without any software on them. Maybe contacting the forscan team will help. Otherwise you may need to take it to the dealer.
Update for anyone wondering the same. You get the Hardware ID from installing the software first. Homescreen will display the hardware ID, just copy paste it

I’ll be the first to admit I’m far from an expert on this but I’ll do my best to help. You can find me on Facebook. Same name as RUclips. I’ll do my best to help.
step 4 replace with another used one, it can be done, because when I download the old module it doesn't download the file and that's where your video ends saludos
On minute 6:21 when you click “computer chip” my TCM doesn’t show on the list
I don’t know why
MY FRIEND I HAVE PROBLEM ...YOU WERE ABLE TO SOLVE IT
Hello ,
Can you help share forscan v2.4.6 ?
The links below is not dowloading
See the top pinned comment. You will now have to contact forscan directly to receive the download link.
Thank you Drew for this very helpful video. Can anyone help me with a download link to v2.4.x? I think 2.4.7 is the latest one. I have a paid Forscan, but can't find download links which work.
@LulzSec777did you ever get a reply?
@LulzSec777how did you confirm to get the v2.4?
i m installing used tcm , same steps for used one? tcm any has vin number stored from old car if so how can i change vin number for tcm?
Same steps as the video for a used TCM. TCM isn’t married to a vin or anything. The most “vehicle specific” thing about a tcm is the adaptive learn, where it figures out the exact touch points on your clutches based on wear.
Hey man, I’ve got a 2013 Focus ST. I recently replaced the steering module, but the dealership corrupted my PSCM files. Is there anyway you could get me the as-built data file for the PSCM and the related code? I’d appreciate it!
I don't have an ST so I don't know if the stuff would be the same and it's really a bit over my head as I've only ever used forscan for this video.
no worries, I appreciate the reply.
hi boss, if the old TCM cannot conveys? in the web ford, is possible download asbuilt by VIN?
Hey, did you find a solution to this question?
@@adambolinger3969 hello boss. No yet
I already swapped mine out and didn’t want to fuss plugging it back in. When I used forscan it allowed me to select the firmware I wanted to use I click factory it pulled it downloaded it programmed it than followed the adaptive learning procedure and it worked flawless. Definitely a life saver as the nearest auto shop is 2 miles away and on a highway. Saved quite a bit by doing it my self.
can Forscan code/program a blank TCM from Ford fresh out of a box?
Yes it can. Just follow the exact procedure in the video it should work for you.
I dont have TCM Under configuration and programming
I’m having the same issue, anyone know why??
I have the same. I dont know why. Help me
@@andreschroff they got not the newest update. It is Different forscan
Mine doesnt show tcm option..
Hi can I get the email of Forscan team? And hiw much will it cost to have a forscan license?
why you skip the driver installation
Forscan doesnt have TCM access for this mdels , there is n separate module Forscan supprt claim it is added to 2.4 windows version but their support and forum membership is horrible invitation only etc. Basicly do not spent $200 on regualr obd reader mx+ or obdlnk etc plus forscan go ot local mechanic shop it is 20 minutes $100 Forscan sucks support is rude,
Im running into a issue when trying to program the new tcm i cant get past the "turn ignition on" i turn on the ignition and forscan wont register that its on. Anyone have a similar issue?
Are you sure the cable is good? And do you have the cable driver installed? Sounds like forscan isn’t able to communicate with the car.
hi, did you solve it?
Hello Drew, what happens if in the process of reprogramming the new tcm the lap is turned off and everything is interrupted, the new tcm is damaged, it won't let me enter the new tcm anymore, tcm error appears, can you help me?
Not sure, maybe the tcm needs the software wiped off and start from scratch. If you order a brand new tcm, they come without any software on them. Maybe contacting the forscan team will help. Otherwise you may need to take it to the dealer.
I can not download v.2.4
How can I find the hardware ID?
Update for anyone wondering the same. You get the Hardware ID from installing the software first. Homescreen will display the hardware ID, just copy paste it
How do you get a hardware ID?
Not sure what you mean. I didn't need any sort of hardware ID. All the information you should need to do the job is provided in the video.
Hello. I have a program in version 2 3 55, but in programming I do not have the tcm option, do I need a newer version 2 4?
Ever got an answer? I'm having same issue.
@@darielmcgrue3118 version 2.4 beta with license discovers tcm. But the servers are down and tcm software cannot be downloaded
i bought the extended license and TCM isnt showing up under Config and programming, any thoughts on that?
I'm having the same issue on a 2013 Feista
Make sure you have the latest beta version. Older version do not have this feature. Beginning of the video shows you how to get it.
@@drewlubka9689 I have Forscan 2.4.6
@Brand Built I just now downloaded ver 2.4.6 and it worked for me. I now see the TCM listed
@@codyarizona4925 I'm working on it I think I may have installed the wrong version.
