I really think you’re doing great getting this done in the winter.
You’ll love the fact that you’re hot new suspension now… it’s so rewarding fixing suspension.

Did the rear upper + Lower wishbones & control arms both sides on mine this time last year. the drive is now so much tighter & handling so much sharper. Well worth doing.

Top work. I work pretty much how you do, in regards to removing parts and then cleaning up stuff that i can now get to. Very helpful and great to watch video.

So glad you are doing this Paul. I have a 2007 and my MOT tester pointed out to me that the rubber boots on mine have also split although the bushes them selves are ok and not an MOT failure. I was looking at doing it myself and now you have convinced me to have a go. SNG Barratts have two options original and quality aftermarket with a big price difference so unsure which way to go but I need to do all four rear arms so would be expensive.

The upper wishbones on mine are still looking OK for now. If you do the uppers , the brake line will need to be disconnected as it runs through the Wishbone

I think its worth getting some dynax s-50 and spraying it inside the subframe tubes to prevent internal rust .keep up the good work .

Hi can you just replace the bushes with poly bushes?

    • @life_on_cars
      @life_on_cars  11 месяцев назад +1

Hello. Yes that's possible buddy. You would need a hydraulic press etc

I've got the workshop manual, and it says that you need to take out the shock assembly to remove the wishbones...

Makes life on the upper wishbone bolts removal easier the lower one its not neccesary.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Really great videos. A question (I don't have Facebook or Instagram). Will you be getting around at some point to doing a rear parking sensor. Really struggling with the thought of tackling this one.

Hi paul, check the upper wishbones bushes, i got a set of polybushes from britishcarparts, very cheap and excellent quality. When i tookthe bolts out of my lower wishbone the other week it was a right pain, but with a lever behind it it cleared the chassis, are you going to do the lower wishbone o the other saide as well so the pair are done?. The nut on the other one has a tab that's welded to the nut and it locks it from spinning when you turn it, you can see the tab at time 13:11 sticking up. once the bolts were off i hit them with the wire wheel and cleaned them up and let them soak in some lubricant to stop oxidisation, I also ran a tap through the nuts a few times to celan that up until i get the replacement nuts and bolts through for both sides. i have started getting everything in ready for the rear subframe blast, coating and rebuild in the new year. Keep the videos going, very enjoyable!! regards!

Hi Buddy yes both sides are getting done. Its always best to replace suspension parts in pairs 👍

Great vid, I am dreading the cost of that wishbone though. Millie well worth the investment by the look of it.

Top skills Paul 👍 is there anything you can recommend (grease/silicone spray perhaps) that would extend the life of the bushes? Asking for a friend 😂

Sounds like the hub is rubbing on the brake shield.

.... I'm currently part way through this very job, along with the top wishbone, droplinks and track control arm.... What a fucking Ball-ache. I haven't gone to the extreme of the hub, but Ive took the caliper off, and there's another thing.... The way they've routed the flexible brake pipe through the centre of the wishbone so you have to disconnect the brake line from the caliper!!!!
..... Oh well.... At least I'll be able to wind the piston back in and fit new pads as well.
And then..... There's the other bastard side to do. That'll be another weekend 😢

You'd think it'd be possible to simply press-out the bush and replace it with a new on. Seems excessive to have to replace the entire part.

Next job will be to drop the subframe completely and sand blast it, then powder coat it and then replace every damn part God himself made. Don’t you worry Paul I’ll pray to God Almighty himself to save your back!! Yes we will need details including part numbers, bolt sizes, all the little details🙏🏻. We gonna be able to eat off this complete new rear suspension! Every last single part. Then we will do the front…😉. Don’t you worry again Neill at Ashwood has all the parts!! 🤝🏻🎉🙌🏻🔥
