It all depends on how you feed and take care of your peacock. Mine is 2 years old and has stayed 16” in a 50 gal. But that’s bc I control his temperature to be a bit cooler. 70’F and feeding a small handful of chopped tilapia cubes once every 3-4 days. His colors are also much more colorful as I also feed him pellets to switch off with the meat on his meals. This also means he has to be the only fish in his tank. Mainly bc he’ll most likely fight for territory or kill to eat since he feeds less.

Depends on the size of fish and if it’s going to be a forever tank. If your planing to keep full size adults I’d say 3 but If it’s a grow out tank and there smaller 4-12 inches I’d keep like 8. Hope that helps and that’s only my opinion. Your tank your rules man! Enjoy the bass!
