My brother had 2 redtail and 2 shovel-nosed tiger catfishes. They really grow fast. He had them for 3 years. Each of them was about 5 feet long. And they were very friendly and frequently required petting.
Sad to say that my excursion into a redtail did not end well. Left for a weekend and it ate and choked on it's 15" tank mate, a gar. Lost two fish at once and then just had the feeder fish left in the tank.

Eventually, he had to sell it. I was sad to see him go, but it was for the best. You can't always HAVE everything just because you LOVE it! Thank you for that great video and all the information.
First thing you have to realize is the feeding plan you have for this fish. Yes they grow fast but that is in relation to the amount of food you feed it. I owned one of these fish over 20 yrs ago before I knew what they were. I saw it at a local pet shop I liked the colors it had so it came home w me. I had a bunch of ornamental fish in the tank goldfish angelfish etc then I noticed they started disappearing and the catfish was getting bigger. I had him in a 75 gallon tank when he made his fatal decision to try to eat my pleco and choked they both died.
Well and what is the moral of your story? Cuz if you don't feed it, it will simply eat the other fish in the aquarium, that is, it has nothing to do with the feeding plan and how much you feed him. 🤷🏽♂️
@@giovanirafaelnot a good idea to put catfish in a tank with a fish that you care about, they will eat everything in there if they’re able to, feeding is irrelevant when it comes down to that.
