The reference to Popular Mechanics sent me rushing back in time.

The Chinese mini excavators are awesome for what they are and their price no doubt.

Heated seats, yeah we don't really need those in AZ because it's always warm here... 🙄

I glade to see someone that uses larger mini excavator. Tell how the cheaper ones are and good to use.

Very good video I enjoyed it. however I believe you might be mistaken on the bobcat E35 being made exclusively overseas. I know they make the E35 and others for the global market and have plants all over the world but but many of the bobcat machines including E35 are still made here in USA. Not many manufacturers left here so I’d like to give credit where credit is due.

You can tour that factory. In the past I was able to tour it. They just assemble some of the units there. When I was there I don't think they actually made anything there. They do get a lower import fee by importing the parts then assembling in USA. Sorry If I offended you? I was just trying to make a point. Bobcat is not owned anymore by Americans. It is owned by a Korean Company.

Thanks for the information Not offended whatsoever. That’s good to know I was under the impression that they did more than just assemble a few things. So hard to get accurate information anymore. I knew the motors were imported but I thought they were actually building much of the machine here in the US.

What are you on about the valve feed and it not working properly all the valves feed from the same source

So on the Chinese Excavator hydraulic valve block. There is input on one side. So in the ISO mode the main boom valve is near the input. When you switch the hoses to make it backhoe control, now you are moving the main boom hoses farther away from the main input. So any valve you move that is closer to the input will take flow. So the machine becomes very jumpy as the boom cylinder is the largest cylinder and needs the most flow to operate smoothly. You can switch the hoses to be in the backhoe control mode but its not as smooth as ISO control mode. Obviously this could be different for another model that has better flow. So if you have one of these excavators and its in the Backhoe control mode. check your hoses to see where on the valve block they are feeding from. If you put the hoses back in ISO position it could operate more smoothly. I did a video on changing Chinese Excavator to backhoe mode from ISO. I need to post the video.

@tractorchannel964 what if I left it the same valve and moved the pilot control hoses instead? I still don't see it being any difference either way as the oil will travel to whatever valve is open the most and will go to point of least resistance first now if I'm running the valve wide open I could see issues as far as feed rate causing problems but this machine seems to have no issues with flow rates

@@MrCheaterpipe ok, I see what you are talking about now. The excavator I am talking about in the video is not pilot controlled. It has multi valve block with input on one end. If you have pilot controlled you probably have 2 valve blocks. In that case it would not matter. On the one in the example if you move one lever at a time after switching hoses it would not change. The Problem comes into play when you start trying to do multiple functions at one time. so on the little Chinese excavator that do not have pilot controls and one valve block they put the largest cylinder valve closer to the input. Its pretty easy to try. when I moved the hoses on the one in the video it was really bad. It was so jerky we compared it to the electric bull you saw at bars in the olden days. Try yours maybe it will work ok afterwards. Let me know? When you do start changing hoses make sure you have everything setting on the ground as it will probably fall and also squirt out more hydraulic oil.

@tractorchannel964 I'm a heavy equipment mechanic so I know my way around hydraulic systems and am aware of the hazards associated with working on hydraulic circuits I appreciate the safety tips it's always appreciated when somebody is looking out for you

Great video, I’ve been in the landscape business over 25 years and I’m just about to pull the trigger on the mini excavator. With the inconsistencies of labor I feel like one of these machine at least won’t call out, and I’m 50, and if I have to jump in on a crew I don’t feel like shoveling,..lol
