Hey guys this was an awesome video y'all sure did bring back a bunch of childhood memories I used to play in that Lighthouse when I was a kid and we would run up and down the beach and swim in the ocean we loved hanging out there every summer my dad would get a couple of weeks off from his job and we would spend our whole summer camping out at Hunting Island Beach. And we didn't have to go far from home because we lived right there in Port Royal thank you so much for sharing this video
You're like us! You also have tons of memories with Hunting Island in them. Camping, fishing off of the Paradise Pier, climbing the lighthouse, surf fishing and looking for Sharks teeth were some of the things we loved doing there. Bet you did those same things there a time or two. LOL! Maybe more than a time or two. Thanks again for coming along on another one of our videos and it's great to hear from you brother! Keep yourself and your family safe! Gob Bless!
Thank you! We love shark tooth hunting and have 1000s of teeth that we have collected over the last 20 years but we're still looking for that big 1. LoL! Thanks for watching!
Yes, I think all of us that love this area love Hunting Island. You and I were just talking about them the other day. Sharing memories. Take care bud. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Thanks for coming along with us! We wanted to add this video to our shelling videos so people would see what to expect when visiting our public beaches.
Yeah man we seen you and your uncle. Noticed the boat. LoL! Bad when you love boats so much you notice people by their boat. It was probably that day when your uncle almost got pulled out the boat by the shark? We're from Barnwell so there's no telling who's truck you saw.
What’s up Oliver and Stephanie. Great editing on this video. I like how you added music and did a little B-Roll for this one. You guys had some nice finds too. God Bless. Terrence, Charleston.
Thank you! We have tons of great memories that have Hunting Island in them! We wanted to try and show others that love our shelling videos what to expect when visiting Hunting Island to look for beach treasures. We don't want others to expect to find what we find when we're shelling barrier islands with no road access. Trying to keep it reel. Got some new crab pots today and we've got shrimp trawling season coming soon. Hope we can keep some interesting videos coming. Thanks for your support on the channel and thanks for watching! God bless!
@@SaltyReflections Completely understand, shelling is different depending on if we have boats or traveling by road to a public beach. I’m saving for a boat now so the boys and I can get out further than a pier or public beach. -> Whaaat!, new crab pots! Awesome! Looking forward to those videos as well. Shrimp trawling is also coming soon, SWEET!.. looking forward too it man. Thank you for the response, and as always I enjoy you bringing us along .
We spent many hours there shelling when we were at Parris Island. It was the first place we went on Christmas day and was 80°... didn't know anyone. Really one of our favorite duty stations. Keep sharing!
LoL! Never know what Christmas day will be like in SC. We made a crabbing video in December and someone wanted to know what time of year we really made the video because we were in shorts. I don't think they knew how SC's weather could be either. Thanks for the encouragement and watching!
Beautiful place there, thank you again for sharing this with those of us that can’t get there at this time. Gods speed to Salty Reflections & Oliver & Stef. 👍🇺🇸
Thanks for watching! Hunting Island is beautiful for sure. If you ever get a chance come on down and check out the views from the top of the lighthouse. There awesome! Take care buddy! God bless!
I just found your channel thanks so much! We are heading to Edisto state park for a week to camp in a week and then heading to Hunting Island for a week of camping so excited! Thanks again for a beautiful video!
Yes, that's what we think. This beach offers 5 miles of beach and most of the time there is plenty of area were there's not a lot of foot traffic. We looked over about a mile of beach and these were the treasures we found. Thanks for watching!
What a beautiful place guys! Love the lighthouse and it was a cool beach to explore! No giant whelks like y'all find on some other beaches, but this just goes to show you that even on public beaches there are some small treasures to be found!
Yes, a lot of people have been asking if we ever shell any of the public beaches with road access. We love Hunting Island! It's were Stephanie and I went on our first date together and it also has a nice campground that we use to come to all the time camping with our family. We climbed the lighthouse many of times to see the views from the top but couldn't on this trip because you have to make a reservation now to climb it. We have a ton of memories of the times spent there. So, it was time for us to visit Hunting Island and share another place we love. Thanks for the comment and watching! Stay safe and God bless!
I love Hunting Island. Enjoyed the beaches in the 70s. Appears the Island is getting smaller due to the erosion. I remembered fishing off the road on the east of the lagoon. I guess that road has washed away. Hunting Island one of the amazing state parks not only South Carolina, but in the US. Enjoy guys!
Yes, it's an awesome place. The road you're talking about has been destroyed from the erosion. We walked that end of the beach a month or so ago and saw the remains.
That first shark's tooth was really cool! The little white mystery shell is an Atlantic marginella. I can't believe there weren't hardly any people there on that pretty beach (not like FL). Yep, I think you found an alternate tellin. And congrats on the babies' ears! Thanks! Your favorite shelling Saltaholic.☺️
Yes, Alternate Tellin and a Marginella shell. Thanks! Some days during the summer cars can be backed up for miles trying to visit. it has 5 miles of beach so when we were running around with our camera we tried to stay away from others as much as possible. Never know when others don't want to be videoed. Most people gather around the beach access points when they're visiting for the day so it's easy to find a spot here to get away from others. We only looked over about a mile stretch and we were happy with our finds. Thanks for watching!
My daddy has always been the shark tooth finding master..... I have had all on slaty reflections on that beach 🌴 i remember yall drawing circles around shark teeth and i still could see them
Beautiful finds! I did not know there were shark's teeth around there! The mystery shell at 4:13 looks to me like either a marginella shell of sorts or a dove snail shell. As you know, the little ones can be very hard to ID with certainty!
We've found 1000's of sharks teeth on Hunting Island over the years. That's it, Marginella Shell, thanks for the info. Happy Shelling and thanks for watching!
Great Video!. Many people come to swim and enjoy the day. Huntin' Island can be dangerous when a swimmer gets caught by an undertow and a rip tide. You can be diving over the crest of the rollers coming, just having a fine time. All of sudden the tide on Huntin' Island will turn and drag you away. All you can do is dig your fingers in sand and try for a hold
Good question!?! We have a huge collection. We share with family, neighbors & friends occasionally. We sell some by viewer request in an eBay store as a way to help support the channel. We are in process of trying to arrange & figure out how to do some shell giveaways for our viewers too! But we keep most of them. I have lots of jars full & random sea shells scattered everywhere around our house, inside & outside. LOL.
@@BLACKRAIN390 Awesome! I've been catching a few in 3' of water on high tide in the marsh. So, I think there moving in. I got to go today and buy some more traps. Trying to get READY!!!!
now, go and put the shells and shark teeth back where you found them the beach there needs the larger particles to cut down on erosion. seriously put them back.

@@SaltyReflections Well, at least Huntin' Island now has the rip tide warnings up for vacationers.
