I was thinking about expanding form. But having not used it before I wasn’t sure how or where I should use it. Where would you recommend? I was thinking about using it for the natural cave walls ect. What do you think?
Yes so according to the internet “ XPS Scenery Foam is easy to cut with our Hot Wire Foam Cutter tool and can be embossed with details using textured rocks, tools and other similar materials.” I have seen other skilled individuals stack the “XPS scenery foam” and sort of stack it, then carve it, and paint it, and adding texture to it. How I would use it I would probably stack the XPS foam boards cut it to shape then glue it onto the cardboard where you would want cliffs or rocky areas to go.. then carve it out accordingly. Sort of modeling it. I would Probably also look up a tutorial for how to achieve the desired cliff look using this method. And look at how other people utilize this. Very excited to see this. Also by the way you may not need a Hotwire and it is not too expensive.
Foam is a popular material, I did consider it. But I think for me, I wanted to use bits that I had laying around and make something from practically nothing. Although the foam would do nicely for the rocks I want to achieve. The modelling clay I’m going to use won’t be suitable for this, that’s for sure. I’ll definitely look into the points you made and see if I can fit it in.
Alright. I cant wait to see what you come up with. Possibly consider sticking the air dry clay on the cardboard, then wait for it to dry, then carve it. But great job so far.
Thank you! I’m going to do some test pieces first before I commit to putting it on. Can’t come this far and mess it up now lol! Let me know if you have any more suggestions, they’re good to know!
To be honest I haven’t given much thought to it yet. But at the moment, once all the clay work is done, I’ll probably spray on a base colour, then air brush the more detailed areas and dry brush anything that might need it. I’ll know more once I’m up to that stage. Do you recommend any paints that I could use?
Great work, progress and craftsmanship! LOVE your dedication AND attention to detail! 👏🏾🦇
Thank you! Part 9 gets interesting, but that will be available to watch this Thursday!
Thank you for watching 😀
It’s really starting to take shape. It’s awsome.
Thank you for saying. It’s going to get a whole lot grander in the coming weeks!
Thank you for watching.
Coming along nicely , can't wait to see the air-dry clay part , love it 😊
brilliant love the bat cave
I would also recommend insulation foam instead of cardboard in some places because is easy to carve
