I was about to ask how Japan got footage of Unicron's head or Rodimus fighting Galvatron when The Movie wasn't released there until years later, but those parts were in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1.
Davethe3rd It's actually because TFTM was animated by Toei, who also animated all of season 1, a lot of season 2 and several episodes in season 3, most notably The Return of Optimus Prime. They then animated ALL of the other G1 cartoons they had.
I honestly can't decide which opening I like better. The American season 3 opening feels more accurate to the show, but this has WAY batter animation, and both have great theme songs. I'd have to call it a tie.
@@Protosilver97 Yep. But here's the problem. During the Ultra Magnus vs Galvatron scene, some Autobots that were not in season 3 are in the intro. Storyboard scene would have shown those Autobots seen in that scene in the movie. Some of them, like Red Alert got killed in the storyboard, while some of them last appeared in the movie.
AKOM only animated about half of Season 3. Call of the Primitives, The Return of Optimus Prime Part 2, and The Burden Hardest to Bear are probably the best animated episodes of G1. The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1, Webworld, and Dweller in the Depths also looked great.
@@DiscothecaImperialis Toei Douga handled all of Season 1 (including More Than Meets The Eye), Auto Berserk, Atlantis Arise, and Call of the Primitives (often assumed to be by TMS, but was actually by Toei as the episode director confirmed it back in 2020).
Fun fact: Did you know that in the Japanese dub, Arcee is voiced by Masako Katsuki, who voiced Michiru Kaioh/Sailor Neptune (my favorite) from Sailor Moon.
Takara, Toei Doga, and Ban Magami (the first Mangaka who did TF Mangas, he was once an apprentice to Leiji Matsumoto). got all in the movie briefed. Japanese even learned that Galvatron is Megatron reborn through manga. Don't forget that TF2010 TVCM did have a scene where four helicopters lifted off a lifeless body of Optimus Prime (Convoy) and all Newyorkers chanted 'Convoy', and a blonde boy yelled 'CONVOY!' (Takara intended that him to be Daniel Witwicky).
Transformers 2010. You know, the Japanese G1 fans must have been FREAKING CONFUSED about how Unicron's head ended up in Cybertron's orbit or what the FRAG happened to Optimus! So releasing G1 Season 3 in Japan BEFORE releasing the G1 Movie there was NOT a very smart move! Cause of that 'genius move', they got confusion and that HORRID Transformers: Convoy no Nazo (Mystery of Convoy) for the Famicom! Other than THAT, the theme for this Japanese release of G1 Season 3 is pretty good.
Neo Bonnibel I know your comment is 3 years old, but I still felt the need to reply, at the start of 2010 Japan did have a narrator explain what happened between Scramble city to 2010 about Unicron and Rodimus Convoy, but the 86 film itself is considered non canon to Japan's timeline of events and instead have their own version of things that happened
The events of the movie is still canon to Japanese G1, the plot was originally detailed in TV Magazine’s scans before the movie itself was released in Japan
Intro Score is made by Toei Doga. totally rejected AKOM produced intro score used in America. clever enough Toei has so many TVCM footages, some are America exclusives.
The really interesting thing is, that shot of metroplex from the fourth season opening of the American version was actually borrowed from this opening. Either that, or it was re-shot.
Almost 10 years after the year this show takes place in and we still don’t have our damn giant robots.
I know right I'm just as disappointed as you 😒
@Kefla Right, and that was like... 2005 when Hotrod/Rodimus caught that kid in his hands in the movie
6 years after 2015 and we still don't have cold fusion, flying cars, or time travel. You lied to me Robert Zemeckis!
but we have woke culture instead.
see - KURATAS .
It’s really cool that the transformers 2010 opening is basically just a compilation of the season three commercials.
And small parts of the movie.
The part with the Predacons and specially Rodimus's is so damn epic
Title screen theme for Convoy No Nazo
Awesome theme song. It's kinda funny that everytime I hear this song I remember the kusoge that is Mystery of Convoy. XD

Considering they animated it, they had the footage but they didn't dub it until much later.
Master Farr Five Faces of Darkness is 5 episodes of the cartoon...
Master Farr Because Toei still had the animation. The American script wasn't finished being translated into Japanese.
I just realized that all the TFTM footage was actually in Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 as a recap.
This is a cool opening!
Couldn't agree more
I love both G1 opening but this one is my favourite
The Japanese version of G1 openings are underrated
That chorus is pretty catchy 0:48-1:01
Ah, so I see where the title jingle for "Convoy No Nazo" came from.
86 was a crazy year for Transformers

+Neo Bonnibel a OVA title Scramble City was made to fill in between season 2 and 3.
Untill the movie went to Japan
THIS IS FOOTAGE FROM TOY COMMERCIALS!
That's Japan.

@@bensonlineberger1852 You are right, my bad.
Broadside and Sandstorm against Blitzwing and Astro train.? YES!!!
If only the artwork and animation was as good as this in Season 3 :( Fucking AKOM.
johnedsel G1 third season is shit.
Call of the Primitives looks really good though

0:55-1:06: Rodimus Prime unknowingly causes Kiss Players, 2005 colorized
This was also the reaspn Pepsi Convoy was created
@GradoNite At least some good came out of it.

Japan! we must give long complicated names to our shows!
Y'all see dat #1 Ninja, Ultra Magnus, Dragon Punch Galvatron in da MOUF?!YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH!
Japanese kids in their minds: where is Optimus? Who is rodimus prime?

Jimmy T. Vu correct since the 86 movie wasn’t available in Japan till 1989
I wish they can make an English version Fight! Super Robot Life-Form Transformers 2010 theme song English dub theme song
Now I say, very cool.
Huh, this looks very interesting.
1:00 There are many Leijimeters inside Unicron.

These look like transformers commercials
Cause much like the American 3rd, 4th and technically 5th seasons, much of it was reused front of commcerials at those times
🎶Burning Heart!🎶
This Intro is very Strange.
They're using clips from the Toy commercial and The Movie (1986)
Which Didn't Release in Japan until 1989 at the time.
Wait, isn't this also one of the ops of Dancouga?
Toy TV commercials, and TF:TM for the intro. Was this done with the 1987 Head Master intro?
After the event from the movie
Does the animation of this opening was used to the commercials in US or it was the opposite
Lifeform not Lifefrom
So they had a separate theme for what we call season 3
+Con Nor Yes.
All I can hear is Randy Marsh from South Park.
The really interesting thing is, that shot of metroplex from the fourth season opening of the American version was actually borrowed from this opening. Either that, or it was re-shot.
I'm pretty sure all the non-movie footage in this opening is from toy commercials.
Transformers 2010 series in Japan was probably better edited and presented better than American Tranformers Season 3. Even thought it is same footage.
Oh, fuck off.
how can it be better if it's the same footage
The animation in the opening are either from the toy commercials or clips from the movie
Red both
Most of the animation are from Toy adverts.
Transformers 8 years ago lol ha ha :D

In his defense, Optimus didn’t see the gun.
También lo uso en mis videos de kwai
0:41 It's Sandstorm and (?)
Broadside
Ultra Magnus the city commander
It’s like the Japanese put more effort into the series
Japan was pretty lazy, just using footage from American commercials and the movie as their opening.
To be fair, it still looks like a solid anime opening.
PutYaGunsOn No, it looks like a solid opening for a show for babies. Which it was.
HAAHAHAHAHAHAAH thats a nice joke.dont you even know back thn most of the footage is made by japanese toei company? you are so funny
Hakaishi00 It's still a random mess of unrelated scenes, regardless of who animated it. I knew it was Toei, obviously.
unrelated stuff?its doing just fine.and they are the one who did most of job so your word is invalid
