5 quick steps on your toes. The full blade shouldn't hit the ice until you start striding. From a guy who was untouchable in any race from a standing start.
My problem when in neutral is to get to the puck that is at 6 feet from me on my side before the opponent gets it. It takes me forever to get to it, I sometimes fall when I try to turn around.
knees should go low and forward, not upwards. you should not push hard into the ice with first steps, but more like doing light jumps forward. You don't need to bend aggressively towards. Otherwise its all inefficient.
Yes, but remember your first 3 strides are generally going to have a lot quicker turnover rate than when you are in full stride. You don’t want to sacrifice power into the ice/stride length, but you also don’t want to loose turnover either.
Real pro. So sad that you gived up. You must meet with Pavel Barber to make some challenge for subscribers. You can will be first pro hockey video bloger
Sure it does but so does everything else you do--stopping, tight turns, punch turns, and anything else you do that's aggressive. But that's why you get your skates sharpened.
It feels pretty natural to want to stand up during acceleration so the boards drill seems actually pretty useful to correct that tendency, thanks.
