    I tried this recipe using skim milk, and it turned out delicious. It was very thick. I sprinkle cinnamon on top and some almond, pecans, walnuts, pepitas, pistachos and cramberries. I also spread some on my waffles. It tasted like fig and date butter and also like bread pudding. I used 5 dates on my recipe and 23 figs. Deliciously!!

      @maryjones-xq3cl Hi, Mary. You can download the video if you have a utube premium subscription. There is an option below the video to download it for free with a 30-day free trial. I can suggest that you do a print screen of the recipe or print the recipe to your printer. You can also send the video of the recipe to yourself as a text message, although if this recipe is removed, the link will not be valid. The best thing you can do is to write the recipe down from the video, which gives you the correct amount of the figs to use, which is what I did. I also forgot to mention that I soaked the figs and dates in the hot milk to enhance the flavor of the recipe.

      Can we replace figs by dates or other dried grapes?

    • @nereidarodriguez3757
      @nereidarodriguez3757 Год назад +1

      @almanalejalloul4555
      I don't see why you could not replace the figs with dates since the recipe also has the option of dates. If I were you, I would try it only with dates, and if it does not thicken, you can always add prepared clear plain gelatin or pectin and add it to it to thinken.

    There's a big difference between commercial sugars. A fruit as a sugar substitute is very healthy. I am a diabetic nurse and we always say eat the fruit instead of drinking it because the absorbtion of sugar is diferent not so rapid. As a sugar substitute in desserts we recommend dried dates, prunes, apple sauce. Convert the amt of 1 dried fruit into grams of sugar or calories. You can then adjust the amount of fruit you need to put in your recipe. But you are responsible for the amount of desert. For us diabetics, the evil is knowing when to stop. NOT EASY!😢

      @judepicton6252 hi, xylitol's long term effects aren't clear so I wouldn't eat that. Always ask yourself if the thing you will eat is a real food. Honey and maple syrup are real natural foods. I tried monk fruit, stevia etc, I felt unbalanced. I also read that processed sweeteners will harm our gut. Unpasteurized honey and real Canadian maple syrup is the best to sweeten your sweets and cakes. I take 1-2 tea spoons of shredded ginger that's mixed with some honey in it and squeezed lemon and right after it I take a table spoon of honey. I also use honey and maple syrup to sweeten my deserts. Don't be afraid to use natural food. They get bad rep because people eat junk all day and they blame the innocent honey or eggs (for cholesterol) etc. Big pharma is the one that blames the innocent foods so people are confused, when people are confused they would cut down the real food and stop getting g the benefits from them. Big pharma wants us to be sick all the time so they can sell us drugs. Big multi-billion business. As long as your diet is great honey won't do anything to your sugar. I do eat at least a table spoon every day. Honey also has cancer fighting properties. And so much unknown great benefits.

      @@NotTooExtreme Thankyou, I was having honey daily ,then read that even that was bad,so started to ration it ,but as you rightly say, it gets so confusing, we end up giving up, same with fruit ,I was eating plenty good fruit ,but then told too much sugar ,in it. I do drink plenty of finely grated fresh ginger with honey, mixed in little hot water to release the juice ,then top with cold water .I dont bother sieving it,I've got used to enjoying the bits now. I'm definitely going back to eating fresh food. I love almond and soya milk ,they both taste so much better .

    There are a lot of suggestions for alternatives in the comments. Agar agar is used by vegans. It's a natural coagulant replacing gelatin so powdered milk is unnecessary. Figs dates prunes. Whole Food Plant Based helps in turning back diabetes. I'm able to eat desserts this way. Also remember that even healthy foods need to be eaten in moderation. The stomach is not meant to hold more food than it can. ❤

      @@sandytrujillo6154 It appears the success of this recipe depends on the dryness of the fruit soaking up the milk to a somewhat pudding like consistency. Even though it is soaked in water for 15 minutes first, that won't entirely rehydrate it. It least, that is what happens at my house. Figs and dried fruit in general have varying levels of dryness. Using it does depend somewhat on judgment. I often use dried fruit to soak up extra moisture in a dish that needs it.

    Sugar is sugar. I'm a type 1 diabetic I have to take more insulin r for figs than regular sugar, although I don't eat either, now Figs...super super super high in sugar..and goes into blood super fast. And... yes, it is slower than juice for going into blood but that can also be dangerous because its deceiving...you end up eating too much...Very deceiving title...no sugar.. and i am not a nurse, but i live with type 1 diabetic and know better than to listen to this nonsence

      In addition, it has a lower glycemic index, which is a good indication of food safety for people suffering from diabetes. Because it takes more time to digest in the body, it does not cause blood sugar spikes after consumption.

    Does anyone know… or take a good guess at what size glasses or little cups she’s using to serve that in? (How many ounces, etc). And what I can use or buy? Just starting out, so I don’t have any cooking / serving ‘collection’ …yet.. but do finally have most of your basic+ things!
    This popped up in my feed, btw.. I’m just learning how to make these kinds of things and cook in so many different ways… Love your video, new Subscriber now!
