Billain is the most underrated producer EVER! I mean seriously, his sounds are impresive, his production techniques are great, he`s really creative, and he simply has an 6th sense for neurofunk... He should have as much fans as Noisia or Spor have... Svaka cast Billain-e pozz iz Srbije !
SynaesthesiaTV Definitely not saying I'm a genius, but skip to 4:15 for an example of sound design made only using Audacity and a broken Webcam mic. soundcloud.com/wovencontour/hazin-clip
Analogue gives a phatter 'warmer' sound, you can drive analogue gear as hard as you want and the sound won't clip; it does get more distorted, but its not a harsh distortion. The added distortion gives more harmonic content to the sound, making it richer and wider. Also gear like hardware limiters will make the overall perceived loudness of your track much higher than software will. The downside to hardware is it's expensive.
yeah it's really all a matter of preference.. I'm madly in love with Ableton Live, but I do know it has its issues, things that would be better in Logic. I'd really like to hear some evidence when it comes to the sound engine myths though...
In short, Digital uses 1's and 0's to emulate hardware. If you run "Signal A" through an analogue processor with the SAME exact parameter settings as an exact software emulation, Signal A will sound a bit different each time it goes through the analogue one, while it'll stay the same each time going the digital route. Thats because analogue uses electric signal which makes variances since electricity isnt as easily controlled as programmed 1s and 0s. Thevariances make for that analogue "warmth"
Ah fair enough, i'll have a go at testing at some point too. I still think FL studio is a good daw, i used to be a die hard fruity loops producer, but had to get logic when i went to college, i like the step sequencer and the pattern arrange window, its a good way to make tracks quickly. I suppose its all down to preference at the end if the day, but i think iv settled on logic. Im not necessarily saying whats daws are better or worse sound quality, but different daws do sound slighly different
@Parallaxdnb I tried taking random samples and gave them into a sampler, and when I switched the semitones the sounds started to lose all their tonal character :/
From FL Studio's forums: Spend time on any forum devoted to any Digital Audio Workstation (DAWs) software or music production and you will see users making unsubstantiated claims about the audio quality of this or that DAW. Protagonists will say a given DAW is clearly and audibly superior to another. To be frank, that's just nonsense. Any DAW software that uses at least 32 Bit floating point calculations will be capable of processing audio without introducing unwanted distortions [...] Google :)
i dunno mate, i used to use Fl and i think Logic has a cleaner sound, all daws have a slightly different sound, and I dont think its to do with the native plugins, because i have always used 3rd party plugins and when i made the switch i could defo tell the difference. They all have different audio engines, so a different result is inevitable. Its like comparing the quake engine to frostbite 2. Not 100% but i thought logic was 24bit and FL 16 aswell?
Ah fair enough, i guess that wraps up the better worse argument, i read down the list of settings that have to be the same to test properly, there is quite a lot of variables. It doesnt say if there is a different sound to it, i know with reason a lot of producers boost 5k by 1db, before even starting the project (funtcase for one) Anyway im gonna shut up, as people are spamming me and thumbs down, i guess you cant even question different daws without being branded as an 'elitist'
Yeah maybe. However, I did some testing between DAWs, and everything sounded pretty much the same. I (among others) think it's a myth that FL Studio's sound engine is worse than many others. I really don't think Logic would make much of a difference for Billain, it's already crisp clear.
Znaci...kupim sebi neku starinsku spravu za masazu i postanem doslovno najbolesniji grajm/neuro producent u Bosni? SIR...1000 INTERNETS FOR YOU... ovo je genijalno :D
don't think it would make much of a difference, the final mixdown is apparently not done in FL Studio, and FL by itself doesn't sound worse than Logic... Logic just has great effects out of the box, but I'm pretty sure Billain uses VST effects to replace the more horrible effects that come with FL Studio
@Ellmpson I don't mean it offensive (really I don't) but I wish people would think differently of FL Studio, it's just as good a DAW as the others. For some reason it has a really bad name, probably because it's easy to start with so a lot of crap comes from FL Studio. But not only does Billain work with it, so does (well, did) Spor. It's a sick and very good DAW. It just pisses me off FL has such a bad name. (Ableton user here btw ;))
Nah i know what you mean mate, most top producers use Logic or ableton, so its a surprise to find out it come from FL studio, some of my mates make better tunes than I do using fl, and im on logic. Billain has an acess virus and a sherman, and on top of that he is a sick creative producer, so this is what makes the tracks sick, i would however be interested to see how his tunes would sound if they were made through logic? Just a thought.
nobody ever said garageband was better than fl studio pro toolers, abletoners, and other big budget DAWers have doubted fl studio, but nobody thinks garageband can do much compared to fl studio
IM SO FUCKING MAD WITH THE PROGRAMMERS AND DEVELOPERS OF FL STUDIO.. they took away pattern blocks in recent versions aswell the LIVE MODE.. look! FL STUDIO rules.. Current Value also uses it (on some projects) aswell Spor did (in the past, probably still).. i love fl but can they fucking go back to the old style... like this!
Iskra 1:03 yeah of course a 'massager' ;)
Billain is a genius, way up on my list of favorite producers.
Pure genius. Definitely getting myself a massager.
Insane intricacy, very very impressive sound design.
Billain is the most underrated producer EVER! I mean seriously, his sounds are impresive, his production techniques are great, he`s really creative, and he simply has an 6th sense for neurofunk... He should have as much fans as Noisia or Spor have...
Svaka cast Billain-e pozz iz Srbije !
one of the best track and making of ever...
For a genius, even garageband can work, well maybe not garageband but you get my point
SynaesthesiaTV Definitely not saying I'm a genius, but skip to 4:15 for an example of sound design made only using Audacity and a broken Webcam mic.

aw man please do more of these vids! its so interesting how you go about doing your stuff! Big ups from Ireland! :)
It's not the DAW, it's the composer behind it.
thanks :D

@TehTr0nik he's a master of foleys! i reckon even the subs are made from recorded sound

HAHAHAA I died at 0:13
haha thanks mate

wow
I want this music, where can I get it??????
@Tr0ll321 By ear probably
ovo je nešta najjače što sam ikad vidio :D
is billain a bosnak or serb? i really want to know :D
I use camtasia to put my tracks together these days, cheers.
What was the piece of hardware at the end? Do you just layer those sounds? They sounded unconventionally wet...?

i dont even notice that the 9 years old dope tracks was produced by a HDD cage, kettle, and guitar's body
Don't get the thumbs down either. If it makes any difference, I still love you.
nice
What is that vibrating instrument called?
what is the mic he uses to record?
Ponosan sam šta živim na BALKANU !

wait, so there aren't any synths used on those awesome basses?!
There's definitely synths being used. The "organic" sounds are layered with the synths.
This..... is...... Billain !
BANZAR approves!
This guy's gonna be a billianare

SIR...1000 INTERNETS FOR YOU... ovo je genijalno :D
hahah, ludilo :D
holy fucking shit this is heavy. how do you guys make the samples to be in key and at the right pitch?
You generally handsome, I love your sound!

dont use massive then, rely on FX chains & resample a bit. it doesn't take much longer than using massive when you get used to it ;)
1:17
@Tr0ll321 u use ears and pitch up pitch down,
Yeah because analogue has no bit rate in the clipping.
I remember dillinja used to do this alot with tape distortion to get that nicer crusty sound.
Fruity Loops......Didnt expect that....
nobody ever said garageband was better than fl studio
pro toolers, abletoners, and other big budget DAWers have doubted fl studio, but nobody thinks garageband can do much compared to fl studio
misliš Bosna i Hercegovina ima :)
prijatelju samo promeni bubnjeve koje koristis i sve ce biti maksimalno profesionalno
Analogue and digital are very different.
sampler
hehe sjaj!!
You have rewritten the rules, again.
Wish I could make basses like this instead of using Massive.
Bosnian :)
samo rokaj care
NEURO Goldwyn Mayer :DDD ROFL
someone tell me what thing vibrating was... i can't find it on google, literally all that's coming up are sex toys.
this is a massive middle finger to FL doubters
