Drew, spot On with the comments about the Garmin Watch. I had the same experiences except the tattoo issue. I was not a tech guy until I got a similar Garmin Watch and now I love tracking the metrics. Thanks again for a great review.

I have the previous gen 945 LTE & it's been great. I like that Garmin actually updates older models with new features for a few years. Like grit & flow & morning report was updates I got on my watch that made it even better. Plus, route creation on their connect platform is pretty good if I didn't already have access to Ride With GPS group account(which can save the routes to Connect too). The Fenix 7S Solar is essentially the same watch with a metal bezel in a smaller size as you may know.

Nice review brotha!i have my garmin forerunner watch also but the cheaper model.i also used it for monitoring my heart rate and maintaining my weight because i’m really busy with my family and work and seeing my garmin watch everyday will just remind me i have to move and control my food intake.I used it too in my mountain biking and its really fun to watch your route and how your body responded aswell.

Like you, I started half heartedly wearing a cheaper Garmin watch 4 or so years ago, then upgraded a year and half ago. Bit by bit, I've gotten more and more from the different data montiored (now also interested in the VO2max and HRV), and even their customized training program. The interesting thing is seeing how data varies over the course of several years. Cons, I'm not real tech-savvy, but it seems like Garmin is trying to ensure further Garmin purchases by using some Garmin-only data compatibility. For example - I have to wear a separate chest strap and app to get my heart rate and speed on my phone on the handlebar, as opposed to a straightforward and free bike computer app using the watch/android ph,,,, or would have to buy a Garmin bike computer. *Cool shop/cars - Is that a blue 66-67 Fairlane or Galaxy on your lift?

Thanks for sharing and interesting to hear about your evolution as well. It’s really cool to see how things change as you are aware of more data.

Since you're trying to do a comparison with two bikes, I know you said you're not a big tech guy, but I'd highly recommend a chest strap hr monitor that Bluetooth connects to the watch when you're tracking effort levels,. They're much more accurate, responsive, won't be affected by your tattoos. I personally hate the watch hr monitor for any kind of physical activity.

@@TheLoamWolf When I was a kid, Playboy mag did a layout with their models and 30's coupes/sedans. I guess something imprinted on me and I've wanted one ever since :D
