2018 matters more than anything in that title. LED strips have come so so far over the past 2 or 3 years. Talking about LED strips from even 2010-2013 is like talking about cassette tapes and VCRs at this point.

No not specifically, but the internet is ripe with this kind of this talk. A lot of people are trying to be internet famous and don't really have anything to offer.
I am more of a work in the background kind of person, and do what is best for the greater good, so seeing your passion for the industry is pretty cool and often missing. Guys love "dope-rides" but don't know how much work it takes to make it happen.
Cool videos. Have gone through quite a few, but I haven't seen just how you make the covers for your custom turn lights. Well done. They are spot on.
Drop in is definitely the way to go!! Sounds like i need to work with modified technology’s to get them to make some genesis coupe lights.

@@flyryde oh man had some custom work done on some brand new lights, then shipped to me... if only I had seen your video first. The strip looks horrible and the job wasn't the best. Between buying a new pair of lights and the cost for parts, labor and mod a quick $600 down the drain.

I am so going overboard with my 2011 Civic Si retrofit! I was just going to go with projectors for better visibility, but since the light will be open I want to add demon eyes and if I can find a spot that doesn't look stupid, I will put an led strip in there.
To be honest, I’m more of the mind that if you have to think really hard about how to get it to work and find a spot to shove a part... just leave it out. Less is more 9 times out of 10. Clean > Busy
@@flyryde I agree. I have since decided not to run a strip, but I will probably go with a set of halos instead.
Have you ever changed the color of the halo ring? Since the white might pop too much in my dark housing, I was thinking of spraying a thin layer of clear mixed with a little black to tint the white halo a little so it looks more smoked than bright white. But not too much as to effect color output.
I'm an automotive painter and I found that tinting clear with base is the best way to tint headlights/taillights, so that's where I got the idea..

I’m very interested in building my own for my g35, my question is how do you get the led strip to sync with the car? Turning , brake lights etc
QUESTION: ON THE STRIP OF MOULDED - the version where the light appears continuous - WHAT TYPE OF GLUE GLUE CAN BE USED. The application is illuminating fully exposed strip affixed to plastic motorcycle edges.(Super or Crazy Glue peels after a couple of weeks.)
COMMENT: Here in VietNam they have moulded junctions into these strips can be plugged. The moulded "joint" has flasher circuitry. There are many of these things from China.

Is there somewhere where you can buy the coating and add it to custom led strips yourself?
Are they visible in sunlight? Ordinary led strips intended for interior decoration and outdoor signs aren't since it has been said that there should be at least 3500 mcd for them to be visible in bright direct sunlight.
I have a huge ? Which I really hope u can help with this. I bought a 144 5v led strip, and I'm trying to understand how to set everything up so it has the switch back for the flasher, cus I can use a 5v step-down to make a lot of led controllers but I dont understand how to tie the turn signal into that controller which controllers would you do to make the turns work??
What glue do you use to mount the strips? I don't want to just rely on the 3M backing. I am cutting up a set of Profile Pivot Switchbacks and mounting them inside 04 Silverado headlights along with a projector retrofit.

I'm so new to this that I don't even understand how you are making the LEDS change from white to amber, or how you are making the amber blink... and then on top of that, how does it all hook up to your vehicle? Especially if you have showy sequential LED options... How???
How do you power everything when testing the lights and stuff?
You say that Led Strip whit the big tube don’t work good but that the only strip I find to my scion tc .because I can bend it enough to put it in my headlights. The Marimoto strip can’t bend like I need. How I find something with the quality of Marimoto Strip but that it bends what is necessary to put it in me headlights of Scion Tc. How I can send you a photo to show and explain what I want in my car?
No need to send anything in bro, everyone wants what you’re trying to explain. It also doesn’t exist. People either go cheap and bulky, or they try to force parts to work that don’t really look right.
There’s a huge majority of ideas that simply can’t be done (well), because the perfect parts don’t exist. Full custom can get close to perfect, but they’ll also be multiple times as expensive. Hope that makes sense.

I tried some of the clear diffuser from Lowe's, that is for the tube type flourscent celing lights. But the textured part that does the diffusing, is too big to work for automotine stuff. It looked like crap. But being plastic it was easy to cut and shape with my Dremel, sabre saw ( if you try this use one that you can control the speed cutting slower stops the plastic from melting back together behind the blade ), and heat gun. It just didn't diffuse the light the way I thought it would. It might have looked ok behind yellow or red lenses, but I didn't like how it looked so I never tried it behind the taillight lenses. 😤
See you do Custom work, so you have to have some sort of challenge. All this drop in stuff would be easy money though!

I’m looking to try to retrofit my 14’ Q/G37s coupe taillights first to familiarize myself with the process but I’d really like to do my headlights next. Any advice or suggestions on where to source these parts? I’m also interested in your online course.
One thing I would really like to see is how to change the look of a head like and what I mean by that is like if u got that chrome back ground for Halogen and you go update that with a led projector, how do you enhance that bezel make it look newer besides just painting it black. Also like how you would ad custom drl and clear out blinker covers. If you know that would be amazing video. I really do think there a few of us with the skill level and the want and willing ness to mess up to learn that process.

Do you guys create the drivers yourself or source them from somewhere? I have color chasing DRLs and Halos but the drivers got wet and the company discontinued the product so now I have to figure out how to create drivers of my own or source them from somewhere to replace my malfunctioning drivers.

I have been trying to figure out how to add some Led Drl Strips, but I can’t figure out how I’m gonna turn my High beam/DRL to stand alone, and work as High Beam only.

Will the morimoto rgb led be bright in broad day light like oem?? Where you can see from far away...
Literally NOTHING will ever be as bright as OEM, period. Unless OEM is known to be very week, there’s no chance a simple part is going to out do the amount of R&D time and money that OEMs use.
But they’ll look dope at night 👌

“Like OEM” is unfortunately saying “Like the biggest richest companies in the world do it”, to which the sad truth is no, not quite. Modern lights have daytime visibility in mind from the start, so every piece and component is made for it. You can’t replicate that with a little LED strip, even though they do look absolutely amazing at night 👍

I have a C5 Corvette with aftermarket ACA style headlights from Corvette Envy. Is there a drop-in board to fit these? If not, what do you recommend? I was thinking maybe a "L" or "C" shaped strip light to outline the outside ends of the housing and a halo on the projector bezel. Have you done any of these headlights?

A bit old strip on a roll of you needed take you a piece of 1/8 thick Plexi glass and cut to shape and sand it'll turn white like a snow look and place strip next to side of Plexi an the sanding you did will make it spread way out these you can use as speaker beauty rings or interior accent lighting around car interior TV's and things but you use the Plexi and sand to get that spread so don't see individual and makes brighter deff

FlyRyde awesome thank you. I'm going to put mh1 7.0 and the led highbeam from retrofit source in my mk6 jetta headlights. Can't wait to get it all done, waiting on all the parts and some spare headlights so I don't have to do a rush job.
FlyRyde regarding cutting the prism strips can they only be cut every 3 inches? For my mk6 jetta headlights I wanted to do a full 18" across the headlight with one 6 inch section going upwards to make it look like \______====(vw)====______/

Really wish you had stuff for my 2012 Ford Focus your lights are pimp and I think would look bad ass in my focus
I used those flexi-tube type switchback lights....back in 2012...lolz, they were actually the _"Hottest"_ new thing in automobile lighting, they now seem low rent compared to today's LED tech. I LED'd the shit out of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, 688 LED's mostly blues and whites (along w/ over 3000 "Skulls" Huge Skull Fan, so of course gonna have a skulled-out vehicle @ sumpoint in me life.) I outlined my headlight lenses from the inside with them cuz of the flex (aftermarket cali-halo type w/ angel eye I put in, so guess they were *"After-After-Market lights* ;) ) because of the switchback, wired them as blueish D/L & amber Turns..... 17 months later, some Va State trooper rookie trying to kiss superior ass, decided I had just a lil too much blue illumination (I did, all various blues, surprised I lasted 16-17 months).No ticket, but had to go back in and swap out a lotta lights...D'ohhhh!!!

Hey man. I just bought some Profile Prism strips for my grilfriend's G37 Sedan. I'm placing them on the top side of the headlight, the chrome part that looks like an eyebrow but the strips are hard to side bend because of the aluminium. It's not that much of a bend. Maybe 145°. Any advice?
I’d need to see some pics to really understand the issue, but I will say this, those prism strips are not stoked about being bent at all. Shoot me a DM on Insta

I just got my first car. can someone give me some info on how to make my lights look cool without spending thousands on custom lights.
Buy no mods, get a credit card. Use it for gas and your cell phone bill. Pay it off on time every month. Go buy a dope car in a year. Don’t make cool lights.
FlyRyde well that doesnt sound very fun lol. the car was my moms and its already paid off. once i finally do buy a car i dont plan on having to use my credit to get a loan and make payments on the car.

If anything just pop the lights off, see if there’s anything free or cheap you can do with a can of paint or by stripping the chrome in ZEP (if it’s black plastic underneath)

What about using acrylic or polycarbonate? You can bend it by heating and scuff sand the edge facing up and it diffuses out. I've been wanting to try it but I don't know how they are doing the LEDs. I'm guessing it's a strip stuck on the other side? Like a long solid lightning ⚡ bolt like fiber optic.
