What a guy you are BR, I never thought a film discussion is this ascetic. I saw the film so many times but the comparison of Tulsi plant with her stay. Omg you drench our thirst of art like no other. Huge fan. Please give us more on sagara Sangamam, Swarna kamalam, Swathi kiranam, and oft ignored suthradharulu, which I think is a masterpiece.

As a 90s kid, i watch these old Telugu movies just for the language and the way characters spoke in those movies. Not an expert in the language but I miss this type of Telugu and I don’t care much about its dialects.

Thanks a lot for throwback episodes .....I belong to period where there is glorification of stalking , heroism , stupid fight scenes with nonsense storyline ...i became huge fan of k Vishwanath movies thorough SUTHRADARULU , then I started analysing how great his motives are ..I miss this in now present movies . He takes hardcore issues caste music tradition class conflict etc but he makes these interesting stories. He uses every character to his movie and role of women in his movies are awesome.

Suthradharulu, what a classic and less appreciated even within Vishwanath sir's films. Gem of a film. Incidentally, while watching rangasthalam, I felt it as a treatment of same subject . Of course suthradharulu stands tall for me. Thanks for the mention.

#Shankarabharanam is perhaps the Greatest Movie of Indian Cinema.
Divinity of Music and Dharmic Spiritualism is rarely seen not only in Indian Cinema but also in World Cinema.
In the last two decades Indian Cinema has become increasingly Hinduphobic.
The World needs Movies like SHANKARABHARANAM more than any other kind of Movies.

This wonderful review in BR' s own unique style brings to mind all the poignant moments of this classic cult film. I have vivid memories of my teenage years coaxing my dad to watch this movie on TV. This was a few years after having read rave reviews about the film in the Tamil magazines. Appa loved Carnatic music but stayed away from films. A man of few words, he got deeply engrossed in the movie. It was endearing to watch his silent appreciation & I could clearly sense how moved he was in the climax in the anklet tying scene.
After that it was my Telugu hubby who enthusiastically lead me into the world of Chiru, K. Vishwanath & Bapu while he joined me with the same enthusiasm as I took him on a whirlwind tour of K. Balachandar, Mani Ratnam & Kamal Hassan.
Looking forward to more such flashbacks revealing the aesthetics of the eighties cinema to the present generation.

Of course shankara bharanam is classic... I request BR to also speak bout swati kiranam starring radhika n mamoothy.. Telugu cinema was at its pinnacle when vishwanath garu was making movies.. Miss his movies.. Would love my daughter to watch these movies...

Dear BR sir. Thanks a lot for doing this. This is one of our best .. And sadly most people seem to have forgotten such a wonderful gem. We are talking of women empowerment and how to eradicate caste differences now. But Mr Vishwanath has done this way back with this amazing movie. Not only that it pains that no one even mentions Mr Vishwanath's work now a days, but also hurts that no one in film schools here at Hyderabad or Chennai talks about this..Thanks a lot. Swarnakamalam, Sagarasangamam are some of the other gems with extremely well fleshed out characters. Thanks again film companion!!! Keep doing this
