My four: 1 - Trixter, 2 - Queensryche, 3 - Nelson, 4 - Steelheart. Enjoy your channel and this series. I love how you close the episode, discussing that the objective is to keep this music alive. I think that's what it is all about. I also like that you are not afraid to talk about more obscure albums. So many channels just do the well know bands. With that in mind. How would you rank these four albums (Hair Metal Adjacent Albums?): Jetboy - Feel the Shake Smashed Gladys - Social Intercourse Mother Love Bone - Apple Bang Tango - Dancing on Coals I'm pretty new to your channel, so if these albums are outside of your wheelhouse, feel free to pass. If you don't know them, I would recommend all four.
@@alexpopglam They are legendary! However, Andrew Wood, the front man, is lyrically and aesthetically completely different from the bands that came afterward. In his first band, Malfunkshun, he would wear white makeup like Kiss. Worshipped Freddie Mercury. Unlike the others inside the scene, he truly wanted to be a rock star. Like to see them get a little more notice, too often forgotten.
Queensryche is not quite glam/hair metal for me but it's the best of these. From those songs that you didn't remember, The Thin Line was a little hard to get into but it grew on me and the pre-choruses are amazing. Trixter is great! One In A Million is so good. Nelson and Steelheart are not bad but worse than the other two. After The Rain and Will you Love Me hit hard, especially the former.
@@rockandmetalinvasion oh yea idc , this is my view , I was born in 92 so when I discovered all these bands and albums in 2005 onward , they were on level playing fields for me . And I am introduced to each album but greatness not by what what was most popular or what mtv told me was cool . Cheers Steve 🤘
Well , for me Empire is the best Queensrÿche album ever ! Operation is a great album indeed, but Empire is far away better for my taste. Love Trixter and Nelson either, and even if Steelheart is not in my top 20 bands, I love those 2 first albums. Anyway, it's impossible for me to decide , I love all 4 !!! 🤣
@@krashkoursemetalshow At the time I tended to think of Hair Metal as "style" over substance. I'm not saying all hair metal is bad, but it is often a bit more simplistic in terms of lyrics and composition. I don't think that describes Empire very much imo.
Queensryche isn't progressive metal either. 😆 The term "progressive" gets thrown around way too casually. How about we all quit trying to pigeonhole bands and just enjoy music.
@@fclefjefff4041 That is what I have seen them described as for the last almost 40 years. Now you are like "that's not fair!!!" The thing about "who needs labels?" is that genre's and sub-genres are useful because it does help find similar media in terms of interest. I mean like Frankenstein is listed as horror, but I don't know that the novel is just horror, but it still IS horror in terms of broader genre.
Please humor me and tell me what makes Queensryche “progressive.” Or, if you like, tell me what you think “progressive” means. They made a concept album, that’s one thing they have in common with a lot of prog-rock bands, but that doesn’t make them “progressive.”
Hello my brother. Trump did it! I've been so miserable for the past four years, but now, I remember what it's like to feel actual happiness. I dont know where else to, or how to contact you…I don't do any social media, except YT, if that counts as such. Anyway, I discovered your channel and first spoke to you on your video interview with Nicoletta Rossellini. Did you ever check out a girl named Frederica Lanna, another Italian metal chick, and I forgot her band's name, Voltron, or Voltrurain I think , they have some good stuff, "Killing Joke" is one of their good ones, but she has this new side project, they do covers of classic American metal/rock. They just posted a Metallica cover. It sounds really good. I dont know if I can post a link, but check out the cover by Rusty Tank of "Fuel" by Metallica. It's really good. Nice and raw, no bullshit, with hot chick singer and good vocals, both lead and harmony. I'm a Megadeth fan so I I don't like Metallica ( I'm one of those people), and I've never even listened to the song before, I mean I've heard it, but I didn't know it's title or anything, nor REALLY listened to it. What a great song, at least this cover is. I noticed you like music from that era, so I thought might like it. They should do a metal version of YMCA lol. Now I love that song too.
My mom was a big Ricky Nelson fan. She bought the Nelsons album and played it a lot when I was 10 years old in 1990
That’s cool 🤘

The only album I have is the Steelheart one which I love, not much of a Queensryche fan and haven't listened to the other two bands
Givem a try 🤘
Hair Metal the pick of Rock best era of music!
Steelheart wins this battle. The other 3 are all mediocre

I will say I disagree strongly with Queensryche being Hair Metal. Queensryche is progressive metal.
