I just soak my bulbs with warm water into a container for a day. I've heard that helps the bulb to germinate quickly.
If they are planted 6-8" deep, this depth works better.
It is not to deep for the bulb, but deep enough for the bulb not to tip over, when they are in full bloom.
Just bough a hundred of multicoloured, this helped 🙏🏼
A very nice video, thanks. My little tip is at the base of the bulb, put a little bit of course grit there, and it helps to prevent rot etc.
From a golf course?
Thank you for your video, I''ll be planting some gladiolus tomorrow, can't wait for the blooms already! :)
Thank you ! Can't wait to start planting 🌱
Awesome, very helpful video. Thank you!
Nice and easy tip. Thank you
Hi hope you are well this Mothers day I agree that you need at lest 5 in a spot I dig one large hole and after placing them in the hole a sprinkle a little layer of soil then bonemeal to help with root growth.
I bought them actually by mistake but now I want to go to the store and get more colors. Here in Minnesota we have to pull them out of the ground because it gets very cold over the winter. I Just planted mine today. My bulbs are much smaller hoping to get them to grow quite large over the summer. I will grab some hay to mulch them. Got that last October should work just fine. Thanks!
Joy-- Good straightforward instructions.
Definitely useful.
Thankyou.
Thanks Grace....appreciated!
Beautiful, much Love From the Heart of Texas.

Yo planté más de 40 bulbos esté año acá en Minnesota.

If you get a chance it would be awesome to see the prime result in full bloom.
Thank you
Thank you! Well explained.
Hello from California! 💖 thx for the helpful tips. Any recommendations for what to plant around them?
So helpful. What’s the name of the plant to your left? A sedum? I love it.
I like your clip, you did not talk too much like others.
What is the best fertiliser for gladiolus? Thanks
Hello new subbie here. I'm growing these on my patio and they are growing so tall. Do you have any care tips for me?
💚💚💚
I just planted about twenty bulbs. I’m in Montana USA. It gets down to -20F to -30F sometimes in winter. Will they need to be uprooted in the fall? And did I plant them too late to get a chance to see them blossom this season?
Thank you so much! Such a great video!
I planted these today about 8-10 cm deep in compost in rows but I have a sheet for preventing weed growth underneath my compost and the bulbs are almost sitting on the sheet is this ok?
Can I ask what the lovely shrubs are to your left thank you
What happens to them in the winter farmer Gracy?
What is they lovely plant on your left side?
Do you know how to grow a Noctis, Prompto and Ignis?
Hola te saludo desde el ecuador
Thank you! What are the beautiful plants on the right side of the video? There’s two of them.
Was wondering the same thing
I think it's a Ballota pseudodictamnus
Gracy, can you please tell me what is the name of that plant just to the right of you in the photograph? (the one with the grayish green leaves just next to your left arm?) I have one in my garden and have not been able to identify it. I would love to know what it is.
What is the name of that green silver plant next to you?
Can you tell me why my gladioli has not flowerd four two years thankyou
I've never had luck with gladiolous... When I plant them, they only produce leaves. I love the leaves but the flowers are important to me too. I will try them again now that I am a better gardener.
The bulbs might have been too young for the first couple of years till they're big enough they do any produce leaves I planted some 3 years ago and they came up up last year beautifully when I thought they would never come up at all
I planted mine at the end of Feb. The leaves are getting taller now about 15 inches tall. It was in my patio for 3months ,recently i have placed it where it can had more sun exposure . Just today i have notice that it has 1 long stem that seems going to hold flowers. I cant wait to see the flowers bloom soon😀
Potassium and phosphates if added will help. One of these promotes flowers, the other roots. It may be that you have a very nitrogen rich soil, which is for leaf growth? Hope that helps😀
I have a query: I planted gladioli in mum's garden last year. They came up beautifully. They were doing well again this year until 3 days ago - they were about a foot tall when they were cut down to within an inch of the ground by a lawn mower (my mum had paid for a gardner to mow the lawn and he pushed the mower over half the flower beds too...). Will they recover? If not this year, then next year? Or should I just dig the bulbs up and throw them away?
EASYTIGER10 ... the bulbs should survive if they weren’t sticking out of the ground much, might flower late or next year. If the bulbs not damaged don’t throw them away , be patient, cheers.
Same reason why I don't want the guy that help me with the grass in the garden
Does any of this apply to zone 9b in the US. I planted corms two weeks ago, and they are almost a foot tall already.
Jerry Stone ours are tall already too we are in 8a.
Mine is foot tall already and i have spotted that it has stem for flowers already.. excited to see the flowers bloom.
📷 yo tomé fotos de las Gladiolas de mí jardín acá en Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA.
I had trouble getting mine to flower over a couple of years, they would grow but not flower at all . A fella I got talking to told me to lift them out of the ground for 24 hrs then replant them, it’s suppose to shock them into producing flowers , any other tips welcomed .
Some reasons for not flowering are: Not getting enough strong sun for at least several hours each day. Old soil that has become acidic over time or has been recently over manured which makes it acidic. They do not like soil under pH 6, but they prefer 6.5 - 7.5. You can apply a bit of lime to the soil to fix this and raise the pH. Fertilizing with a vege fertilizer that is too high in nitrogen (leaf growth, the first number in the n-p-k fertilizer ratio on the packet) and not enough potash (flower growth, the second number). A better fertilizer will be one like a tomato fertiliser which has the middle number higher to encourage flowers. Not a vege fertliser with the first number higher. Check this article for more quick tips on drainage, pests and diseases that might be holding back your plants.
"Too-deep bulbs can suffocate and rot, and one sign of survivors is that they put out leaves but no blooms and typically have a very long, whitish stem between the bulb and the green above-ground leaves."
Last year I grew galaxies? Pink, lemon, red. This year they are all red, have you ever seen this happen before that they change colour?
Deb Johnson that’s crazy. Did they change colors?
Hi, Late to this video but it has been useful to me today as I have planted some in my new allotment (an absolute beginner at 56). Can I ask, if you take cuttings will they re-flower or is that it for one season? sorry if this is a bone question. thanks for the video. Stay safe

Anybody peel the bulb first?
I'm guessing if you leave them in the ground continuously they will bloom year on year? If yes do they mulitply? Thank you!

im so frustrated that leaves started to get brown 😔 i planted 30 of them but the leaf they all started to get brown.

But how long can they grow full flowers. I just grow mines late May.
