@@TheUltimateRare I remember one time, a long time ago, he asked why we couldn't just throw criminals into space just to see what would happen and I ALWAYS remember someone saying "because of the 8th, Chugga."
There are three Shell items. The Small Shelll nullifies damage once, the Big Shell three times, the Giant Shell all attacks that would deal less than 20% of the health of the Bro wearing it. The Daredevil Boots override all of them. Having the Boots and any Shell is a waste of an equipment slot.
Arguably the daredevil boots dont override anything, it just specifies that "any hit KOs you" that would be regardless of damage. The shells only negate the damage, not the hit itself.
Neat thing about Bowser's fight: If you skipped picking up the Shy Guys back outside Bowser's Castle, he will not use that attack at all during the boss fight.
I'm also wondering if his POW/DEF/SPD are the same as his current playable level... Obviously his HP isn't, otherwise that single attack would've one-shot him 🤔
..i don't think that IS possible.. unless you hack the game.. Since bowser thinks "I should go rescue the shy guys" turning you around.. meaning its impossibpe to skip them.
Chugga for boss fights u should probably start off with the bonus badge equipped. Because you only need to fill it once at the beginning to get the EXP multiplier and then you can switch out after. You’ll get way more EXP and have to grind less later.
With Dr. Toadley here, Fawful has competition for funniest speech gimmick in this game! I love how after playing as Bowser for 80% of the adventure so far, you get to battle him as a boss with the Bros, and he retains all the moves you used during his battles up to this point! That is such a tremendous attention to detail!
I have to admit I was actually caught off guard by the blorbed toads when I first got to toad town as a kid because I completely forgot about it. With everything that had been going on with Fawful you kinda forget about the literal crisis the kingdom was going through beforehand.
You'd think it'd be a constant presence everywhere you go but no it's just relegated to toad town. Funnily enough I think the remake actually did that with the browser Jr mode.
I think one of the best things about this game is that it knows to take itself seriously. All of the minions being brainwashed, all the toads suffering, as a kid it gave this journey a lot more weight. I'm playing through brothership right now, I'm halfway through the third ocean and while I like this game I am just not feeling the stakes the way I felt them in this game.
I feel like that was the Mario and Luigi series greatest strength when it came story telling. It took itself seriously but it also remembered that it was a Mario game and thus knew how to have fun and understand that yeah this is kinda ridiculous. Compare this to super paper Mario where the story doesn't fit with Mario and the gang at all.
@@nightmarearcade2663 I ssssorta disagree? I feel like Mario is kind of like Mickey mouse, where he's a blank enough slate that you can do some pretty cool stuff with him. I might just be making excuses for Super paper though. I adore the story of that game.
"What's stopping someone from saying 'My back hurts', and then getting a physiotherapist for cheaper than a personal trainer?" ...That's called "Insurance Fraud", Chugga...
Dream Team is my favorite Mario & Luigi game but I agree that the tutorials are probably the weakest part of that game. Thankfully, Paper Jam fixed that up.
Dream team is my favorite Mario and Luigi game. The tutorials are mainly compacted up til the desert area is done. Then it’s just an occasional one when different effects occur. Dream Team is a MASSIF game. So while the tutorials can be bothersome, you spend most of the game without them. Like Skyward Sword. Get past the beginning and then you’re in the clear. Or if you’re Arin Hanson, skip through every tutorial and then get mad he doesn’t know how to play.
@@MrChillaxin2010 he’s inflating the tutorial count in this game unfairly. Like in this episode, starlow telling the bros in two sentences to grab onto her to avoid Bowser’s flame is not at all a tutorial.
As a kid, I was terrible at dodging the shy guy squad attack because I sucked with the hammers, so any time i’d replay the game I would actually avoid picking up the Shy Guys with Bowser until after this fight to make it easier on myself. Cool attention to detail
@@infinityheart_tm9270Can’t say I remember even if I have seen it. It’s been so long since i’ve last played this game, I’ve forgotten a lot about it unfortunately.
I'm surprised Chugga never mentioned the fact that the Bowser boss fight actually works off of Bowsers' ingame stats because if you cheat in invincibility/Max Stats for the characters, his boss fight becomes impossible to beat and softlocks the game.
@@gregorysgetaway6168First of all, incorrect. There has been no evidence to support that and everything from that one drama he had recently was all proven to not be true. Second of all… why are you saying this in some random comment?
Not sure if someone already answered this, but 25:37 To achieve an "excellent" hit with the Jump Helmet attack, you need to land as centered as possible on Luigi's helmet. Specifically, aim to step on the star design at the top of the helmet. If you land on the sides of the helmet, Mario will be launched further than intended. This makes it harder to execute consistent jumps and gain the momentum needed for the "excellent" hit rating. Source: Dude, trust me-I played this game way too much during my childhood
As a kid, when Bowser showed up in Dr. Toadley's office, for some reason I thought he was a figment of the Bros. imagination that Dr. Toadley conjured up and you just played as a copy of Bowser for the rest of the game. I was either a kid with a wild imagination or a kid with absolutely zero perception lol
“Was Bowser killed by the security system? He was. Will that mess up the game’s plot? It will. Shall I create a figment of the Mario brothers’ imagination to take his place for the rest of the game? I shall.” -Dr. Toadley, apparently
Oh my god. I can't believe we both had this oddly specific experience. I was literally going to say the same thing... I remember Dr. Toadly being "evil" and conjuring Bowser for you to fight. I have no idea how that never clicked until just now Hilarious what being a kid does to your narrative literacy 🤣
Having only played the original on a 2DS, Bowser when he uses Goomba Storm in this boss fight, he says "GOOO!" (27:19) to signal the Goombas to start the attack. the Remake removed him saying go when he uses Goomba storm and I don't know why as it added some more unique flare to fighting AGAINST Bowser as the bros, as he does not say GO! when you play AS him and use Goomba storm.
It’s the little things man. They add up and make the remake a better some ways, worst some ways version I just can’t get behind. AND THAT FINAL FIGHT WITH THE SHATTER EFFECT AND THEN THE MUSIC, YOU KNOW THE ONE… THEY REMOVED IT !!! WHAT THE FUCK
*Toad Town Mall* Goomther: Man, this new mall is sick. Shawn: I know, right. So many different shops to visit. I wonder where I should start? Bowser: We're not here to go shopping! We're here to get answers as to how I can get my castle back from Fawful and get that Dark Star thing. Toad: WAAAHHH!!! It's Bowser! Run for your lives! *flees* Bowser: What a wimp. Goomther: Say, maybe this Dr. Toadley guy knows something. His office is just over there. Bowser: Excellent. Time for a little check-up with the doctor. *enters the building, only to find screaming Toads everywhere* Hey! Is there a doctor in the house!? I'm got a mean case of 'punching people in the face-itis' and it can only be cured by seeing the doctor of this place. Toad: S-S-Sure. H-He's just behind that curtain. Shawn: Thanks for the tip. *the trio walk through the curtain and find Mario and Luigi* Bowser: What the...!? Mario! Green Stache! What are you doing here!? Starlow: Bowser!? Get out of here, we're busy with something! Bowser: Tough luck, chump. I'm here to speak with the doctor, now shove it! Goomther: You guys are going down! Shawn: Face our wrath. SHOO-RAH! Bowser: *slams his fists together* SHOWTIME! *one battle later* Bowser: *on the floor* ... Crud. Starlow: Well then. Anyways, what do we need to do to get to Peach's Castle? Dr. Toadley: Star Cures! Find all three Star Cures to cure the Blorbs and break through the barriers. Now, the first location; is it in Dimble Wood? It is! Bowser: Dimble Wood, you say? Perfect! Goomther: We're going to find those Star Cures before you do. Shawn: Then we can use them to beat Fawful and get Lord Bowser's castle back. Bowser: So long, suckers! *heads off for Dimble Wood* Dr. Toadley: I should also mention it's held by a sage. Does it look like this? It does. *shows a Durmite* Mario: *speaks in Italianese* (Say, isn't that the same bug we fought inside Bowser's body?) Starlow: Oh yeah, you're right. Come on, guys. Let's head back into Bowser's body and get that Star Cure. Luigi: Okie-Dokie. Starlow's Log Day 20: Today has certainly been an eventful day. We found a way out of Bowser's body through a piping network, meaning we could escape and try to stop Fawful's plan. Unfortunately, he got to the Dark Star before us and stole it. He used its power to create a blockage, preventing us from reaching Peach's Castle. We decided to take a trip to the Toad Town Mall and see what we could uncover there. That's where we managed to speak with Dr. Toadley about how to deal with the Blorbs and blockage. There are three Star Cures scattered across the Mushroom Kingdom that are held by three sages. The first one just so happens to be located inside of Bowser's body. Out of the frying pan and into the fire, I guess. We're heading back inside. Oh, and speaking of Bowser, we ran into him at the doctor's office and had to fight him off. Now, it seems like Bowser's after the Star Cures as well. Let's hope we can get to all three of them before Bowser does.

26:05 jump helmet is not random. Mario jumps further or shorter depending on where he lands on the helmet. The further right, the farther he goes. However there are also edge bounces which are denoted by smaller particle effects and mario's lack of WAHOO!! when pressing A. Edge bounces push mario further. So for the ideal jump helmet, you want to land as left as possible on the helmet without triggering an edge bounce. This is easily noticble in cholesteroad's Juuuuuuuuuuump! Mode.
@@chugga hmm. I could very well be mixing up my memory, it's been a good 13 years since i last played and i remember juuuuump mode giving me a lot of grief. I'll see if i cant find my old ds and give jump helmet a bit of a test. You're probably right though.
@@chugga okay, i did 75 test jump helmets on alpha kretin x, as it has eligible invincible targets. I did 25 perfect attempts, 25 almost perfect attempts, and 25 intentionally poor attempts. In the 25 perfect attempts, it was always 5 jumps. Even when i got as left on the helmet as possible without doing a mini-hop, it was always a maximum of 5 jumps. Of course 25 is a relatively small sample size, but this is all i had time to attempt. In the almost perfect attempts, i always did one mini-hop, and it seems to be based on the position of where mario lands on the helmet. Of the 10 attempts where mario's feet was close to touching the star it seems to be lenient sometimes to let you get 5 jumps in, where i got 6/10 attempts to be 5 jumps and 4/10 to be 4 jumps. Of the 15 attempts where mario's feet were almost off the helmet entierly, i always got 4 jumps. When i did the mini-hop did not seem to matter. In the 25 intentionally poor attempts, i did nothing but mini-hops. I got 18/25 to be 3 jumps, and 7/25 to be 4 jumps. It once again seems to be based on where mario lands on the helmet. Getting all mini-hops with mario's feet closer to the star will seemingly get 4 jumps in most of the time, while getting mini-hops with mario's feet being almost or completley off the helmet made it do 3 jumps. In conclusion, i do not believe it to be random, but still based off of where mario lands on the helmet. It should be noted that this was performed on alpha kretin x in the gauntlet, and bosses may have a cap, which is why i never got 6 jumps. Additionally there is likely human error, especially in the almost perfect attempts section. This was interesting to investigate, and i would like to test more, but i do not have the knowledge to do TAS gameplay to verify my hypothesis.
This is the one part of the game that stumped me as a kid. Even now, I’m surprised that a game as handholdy as this suddenly expects you to go, “Oh, we should go visit this doctor to tell us what to do, because…doctors know stuff, I guess.” Maybe I was a stupid kid, but hey, the game had been more than accommodating for my stupidity up until then.
You see, the game never actually held the player's hand when it comes to the common RPG behaviour of "go inside every available building and talk to everyone".
The female Toads being more generic could be some kind of budget issue, I mean, it's much easier and far less time-consuming to edit pre-existing sprites than it is to make new ones from scratch, and they weren't exactly shy about reusing assets from Dream Team. That's my guess at least, since we now know about the financial trouble they were in at the time of the remake being developed, coupled with an interview I read the other day where someone talked about how much work they had to put into the visuals of Dream Team (likely costing them a whole lot of money, motivating them to reuse both engine and assets for future installments)
I don't think so. A lot of assets could be reused from the other 3 Mario and Luigi games. Toadette was in paper jam, so her sprite work could have easily been repurposed. Especially given that they went through the trouble of editing a regular toad sprite, why not reuse the toadette sprite and edit it? Alphadream is certainly no stranger to reusing sprites and models. (They did for paper jam, from what I can recall)
Is it fun facts time? It most certainly is. - The Daredevil Boots aren't based on damage. It's based on getting hit. So even if a hit would deal no damage, you would still be OHKO'd. That's why the Small Shell didn't protect you from that first hit. - The Powerful Badge works a little differently in the remake. It takes *far* longer to charge up, but its effects are substantially stronger. The effect applies to the whole next attack, rather than the next hit, and the highest possible bonus is an eye-watering *6x damage boost!* Combining this with another badge that boosts POW by 30% for several turns is the fastest way to defeat Bowser X in the remake. - In the remake, Bowser has a couple of new tricks. Firstly, he is unique among bosses in that he can get up to three attacks per turn later in the battle, although this tends to result in a lot more Goomba Storms to counter back at him. Secondly, upon reaching half HP, he will not only gain the usual Fury stat boost, but he will eat a Drumstick that fully heals him. A neat way to use another player action and make him a little tougher. Bowser X does this as well, which is why the previously mentioned strategy is so effective, as you can get him to just above half HP, then deal enough damage to bypass the second phase entirely.
I doubt that Nintendo’s IP team had much influence. This remake was from 2019, when Nintendo had relaxed their control on designs heavily. There’s no evidence to suggest that it wasn’t just for sake of time from a company who was dead anyway.
I thought it was just to make the Male & Female Toads more Gender Neutral & ig implying that if this was what a Female Toad looked like, the Male:Female Toad Ratio is hella disproportionate since we see the Male Design so much
@@TiStardust sure, the game released in 2019, but you still have the years of developing the game where the rules of generic designed toads were still in effect, even if they relaxed that rule in 2019 it would be to late in development to change what they already made.
The fight against Bowser was a massive Roadblock for me. So much so that when I FINALLY won, Mario died from his Goomba Attack and Luigi did the last counterattack.
26:05 Actually Emile, there _is_ a rhyme to its reason. Remember Juuuuuump Mode where you jumped low and far if Mario landed on the front of the helmet and jumped high and close if he hit the back? The same applies to the main attack, just *way* less pronounced. Jump Helmet always gives you a set distance to travel, so high and close jumps simply give you more bounces. It takes some precision to do, though.
Man I remember loving this fight so much, that I intentionally tried to get Mario, Luigi and Bowser in the same spot in the overworld to cue a rematch (and maybe even fight the Bros as Bowser). Alas, Bowser would always disappear whenever I reached my destination as the Bros.
08:12 Don't forget that Small Mario-sized hole by that pipe you just came through! 09:19 I actually do quite like those random "Special Attack"-effects. It gets you to vary your Special Attacks. 14:20 Just completely missed that Toad kid. xD 24:08 So the Daredevil Boots override the Small Shell's effects. 26:54 Bowser will not use this attack if you haven't actually freed the Shy Guy Squad back in Bowser Path. The developers really went out of their way there.
I'm guessing the change for the female Toad's pigtails just boils down to budget. AlphaDream was on it's last legs as we know, I imagine they just cut ever corner possible.
The thing about physiotherapists is that they focus more on injuries and rehab, while a personal trainer focuses more on fitness and strength. I see no issue with still seeing both, as your personal trainer can modify workouts based on the guidelines your physiotherapist gives. Just my two cents on the idea, but at the end of day it is your decision on what you want to do. P.S. Thank you for all the laughs over the years. Been watching since your Xenoblade 1 LP in high school, and now I'll be graduating with my Masters in athletic training. Keep it up!
Another USA Bowser vs EU Bowser comment USA Bowser: Aw, cry more, you big baby! You’re just ticking me off! EU Bowser: You annoying little…! You’re really ticking me off!
"you're not gonna need defence cause you'll be dodging every attack" Meanwhile, Mario dies every episode because he doesn't dodge AND has Daredevil boots equipped
27:53 I actually like how if one of the bros is downed, the other will run over to pick him up when it comes to dodging or some unique attack. Their bonds are strong
One thing that I kinda wish they did with how we can go between Mario & Luigi and Bowser in the Mushroom Kingdom. If you leave Bowser somewhere the Bros can get to if you go to that place with Mario and Luigi he’s just not there even if he was just there as like an NPC and told the Bros to get lost I think that would’ve been a fantastic detail
They could have done that but on the other hand, I think it would have been out of character for Bowser to just tell the Brothers to get lost instead of attacking them. Bowser has always been more of an attack first, ask questions later kind of guy.
(1:04) Correct me if I'm wrong about this, but the reasoning for this (as well as Dr. Toadley replacing the Magikoopa in the Superstar Saga remake) was simply because Alphadream didn't have the money to create new models, so they went with Generic Toads instead.
I remember I was stumped on Bowser for days when I first played this many years ago. I got so stumped, in fact, that I thought to myself “What if I made another save, but made sure Bowser wasn’t as powerful by the time I fought him and doesn’t have any of his minions attacks?” Of course, I quickly found out that you couldn’t skip Bowser’s minions, plus the stats of my Bowser wasn’t tied to the boss one AT ALL. I did eventually beat him on my normal save, but I still think back to that decision I made to try and make the fight easier.
Apparently according to another comment, you are able to skip the Shy Guy attack, and if you do, he doesn't use it in this boss fight. They actually remember that and account for it. It's the Goomba one you can't skip.
@@ethnictendotrue- you can skip every minion cage except the goomba one and even get unique dialogue from them if finding them as the bros- also i do believe bowser keeps his attack and defense stats at the least for the boss fight as cheating in max stats softlocks the game on an unbeatable boss fight
I've been watching this channel since the Link's Awakening playthrough, maybe even earlier, and I appreciate that Emile has used the same sound effect for correcting mistakes in post for pretty much this entire time. Sometimes I'm multitasking and that little "doh" gives me the cue to look.
The Bowser’s Inside Story world feels so much more alive compared to Partners in Time. I’m glad there was more experimentation, but I do wish Partners got a remake too.
I’ve heard people say that but does Partners in Time really need a remake? What could a remake add to make it worthwhile? The only thing that disappointed me about Partners in Time was that we never get to explore the Mushroom Kingdom in the present because we’re restricted to Peach’s Castle. It would have been cool if we changed stuff in the past in certain areas and we could see those areas in the present and see how they’ve changed. That’s the only thing I could see in a remake but then again, it’s probably too ambitious for Nintendo.
@@juanluismendoza8655 with an entirely new engine there are lots of possibilities now, but I can see why Nintendo would be apprehensive about another Mario and Luigi RPG remake considering the success of the BiS remake. Maybe something from the ground up, an enhanced and different experience with the core plot? Like the Final Fantasy 7 remake
@@gxstalten Your Final Fantasy 7 Remake suggestion is really exciting because of how incredible those games are. The thing is that I don’t see Nintendo doing something like that because this is Nintendo we’re talking about. As for the Bowser’s Inside Story remake, I think it failed because it was a pointless remake. The original game holds up really well and could already be played on the 3DS. At least the Superstar Saga remake added some stuff like a second screen, a small additional mode and the novelty of having every Mario & Luigi game on the 3DS.
@@juanluismendoza8655I feel like Nintendo is getting way more experimental with what they can do. Take Xenoblade X for example, that game was built specifically for the WiiU hardware, and now it's being remade for the switch. With the success of Brothership, TTYD, and the Super Mario RPG remake - it's possible that Nintendo will get bolder and bolder; listening to the fans
I'm gonna be honest, when I saw the remastered blorb scene, I thought the couple was made gay due to the lack of distinction of the mother. I was like "Oh hey, way to respect pride rights guys." but nope, the mom is just horribly indistinguishable from other toads now.
Starlow being able to lift the Mario bros during the Bowser fight had me wondering. If she could easily support the weight for both bros, why couldn’t she just fly them over the blockade? Sure, we still need the star cures for the blorbs, but not for the Dark Star. Progress Report: N/A
The interaction between the Small Shell and Daredevil boots: The small shell makes you take 0 damage from the next hit, while the daredevil boots makes you die on first hit. Even though the shell made you take 0 damage, you still took a hit, so the boots kill you.
I think, in this case, it was less about the mandates and more “AlphaDream needed to recycle as many assets from Dream Team and Paper Jam as possible because they had literally no money left.”
20:34 Love how Mario coughs relatively lightly to fake sick and then Luigi just goes over the top and screams in pain once he catches on to what Mario's doing. It's these little interactions between the Bros. that make me love this game so much. One of my favorite moments along with another moment that's... coming up real soon actually! I feel the same about the Bowser fight too! It's so cool seeing your own moves used against you and having to find counters against them. It's like getting a taste of your own medicine! Fitting that we're in a hospital and all... Also, not even in what I consider my most comfortable fan circles can I escape the Skibidi... First there was Grian on that one Phasmophobia stream with GIGS, and now this...
I like how the crystal ball is actually correct. Bowser is heading to Dimble Woods to find the sage. So yes, Sage location Bowser's Body, Dimble Woods.
The instance here where the main characters end up crossing paths and fighting again is one of the most stand-out moments of the game for me. The player has learned Bowser's attacks, and seeing them used on you puts a hilarious and innovative twist on things. Starlow actually being helpful and the introduction of the fantastic character that is Doctor Toadley make this instance a highlight for any playthrough. Also, I think Emile may think twice about using the Daredevil Boots during a long battle after this experience, lol.
Toad Town has the best ost in the entire M&L series for me, and the other series have some bangers. Makes me feel like a 9 year old again hiding my DS before school so my siblings don’t mess up my boss fight 😅
I can't wait for the moment where emile gets mario killed due to the daredevil boots and realizes he's out of 1UPs AND luigi is also about to die...you know that's gonna happen sooner or later.
They can't kill you if you kill them first. I did sort of the same strat for Partners in time. Yes, Mario got one shot, but the incredibly powerful attacks allowed me to: Save up bros items (Just need a couple of fireflowers for clearing enemies, instead of battling against hp sponges), saved me turns against regular enemies (killing them before they kill me), get better equipment for Luigi without compromising Mario or spending more coins. By giving Luigi that equipment that increases his speed by a ton you can buff Mario with red peppers or blue peppers. It's just a snowball effect. (You do spend a lot of 1 ups, though.
Yeah same. I'm not playing along but I was getting frustrated watching Mario die that easily. I don't play "danger strats" on any game for that reason.
I actually smiled so hard when Bowser punched that quack doctor. Too many people misuse "-itis", by calling every fictional disease "something-itis", when "-itis" refers to inflammatory diseases (ex: acute bronchitis is another name for a chest cold, with swelling in the lungs' bronchial tubes, that causes coughing and wheezing), and Bowser has already reduced his swelling and is back to normal. XD
Emile, please, for the love everything you and this channel stand for, never, under any circumstances use brain rot language like Skibidi in any kind of content that you are involved with, ever again. Break our eardrums all you want, but never say such villainous things ever again
I think I know what’s going on with the Jump Helmet’s seemingly random hits? If you land on the front of the spring, you bounce further forward, and if you land further back, you go closer to straight up, and I think you get more or less hits depending on how quickly you get to the enemy, so landing on the back of the helmet will end up dealing more damage. This is also a good tip for the challenge node, since you can actually kinda aim for or away from the clocks
26:22 It may have been exaggerated during the juuuuuump mode that mario’s landing position on the spring would dictate the height and distance of the next bounce, maybe that translates to regular gameplay?
26:26 HE SAID THE THING! Also, fun fact about Shy Guy Squad: Bowser will actually not use it in this fight if you (somehow) haven’t unlocked it up to this point, and this also applies to Bowser X as well.
One of the coolest fights because Bowser has been controllable up until now, and he’s in prime condition with all his attacks we’ve used. However, coming off of our last fight with the Kretins, this fight is difficult. He does a ton of damage and sticks around for a while. Trust me, you will be seeing that damn clinic skit over and over again, because Bowser is that tough
Regarding the amount of jumps of the Jump Helment: it is entirely dependent on where mario lands on the helment. The further back he lands on the helment, the higher and less distance his next jump arc takes. The further forward he lands on the helment, the more distance Mario's arc takes with the trade off of less overall height gained. This feeature is mainly exploitable in the Challenge Node minigame where you can you the arc Mario takes (or simply not use the jump command) to aim for clocks and perdicably aim for consistent area for Luigi to walk to. The Excelent rating is depending on what height threshold Mario's last jump is at (above the top screens vizability) when he clears the lead up distance and you are guarenteed to hit that threshold with four successful action command inputs from Mario. So, theoretically, if you mess up a jump input from Mario early on in the attack, you can purposly have Mario continually land on the BACK half/third of the helment spring to get more jumps in before reaching the enemy! It's such a small detail for the attack I'm supprised they didn't give any hints about its nature outside of the demo. In speedruns, you'll often see this trick utilized in getting the A rank fast by landing on the FRONT part consistently after getting a good time buffer as that's what clears the most distance quickest. Hope this reaches enough people because wow oh wow this is such a cool trick and I hope it gets shared in the LP.
Fun fact: Dr.Toadley appears in the remake... not that surprising until i say the Superstar Saga remake where he replace the one Kamek that helped Luigi by giving him courage (when Mario went sick).
If you use a walk through walls cheat (ik a cheat like that outside Pokémon) and have bowser explore toad town. His body is too big to go inside the doors of the clinic. Begs the question how he got through off screen Also the way bowser heals himself half way in the fight in the remake, it’s like all the work we did was for nothing
The fact that the Daredevil boots overrides the small shell SUCKS. Most other games with 'OHKO' mechanics always put the nullify first hit taken as something that DOES benefit you!
1:10 my theory is that since Alphadream was already going bankrupt when they made Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey they had to use more "generic" designs because it uses the artstyle of the other 3ds M&L games to have a lower budget
29:00 regarding the security system I think that was something fawful installed because it doesn’t really make sense to have a toad town security system if it’s going to barely work on the one man that the entire security system is built to protect from。

Ok, but what about Giant Shell Bro Socks Luigi?
I'll include this in a future video when I get the Giant Shell! Thanks!
That is a major bummer, can't believe the devs wouldn't let us have fun
@@chugga He says as it's demonstrated in the video.
Huh. I figured that would be the case. I knew about the other Easter Egg if you don’t free them and find them with the Bros, but this one’s neat
This will probably be mentioned later but you can also find the next two Minion groups with the Bros before freeing them

..i don't think that IS possible.. unless you hack the game..
Since bowser thinks "I should go rescue the shy guys" turning you around.. meaning its impossibpe to skip them.

I have to admit I was actually caught off guard by the blorbed toads when I first got to toad town as a kid because I completely forgot about it. With everything that had been going on with Fawful you kinda forget about the literal crisis the kingdom was going through beforehand.
Yeah, surprisingly the Blorbs are probably the least important aspect to the story. Just a vehicle to set up the main conflicts.

Not sure if someone already answered this, but
25:37 To achieve an "excellent" hit with the Jump Helmet attack, you need to land as centered as possible on Luigi's helmet. Specifically, aim to step on the star design at the top of the helmet.
If you land on the sides of the helmet, Mario will be launched further than intended. This makes it harder to execute consistent jumps and gain the momentum needed for the "excellent" hit rating.

Mode.
I've talked to speedrunners and no, it is random. The physics are only the case in the minigame.
@chugga Huh... I never knew that.
That's neat.
@@chugga Oh, also, you have Small Shell equipped, but just so you know... The Shell gears do NOT work with the Daredevil Boots.
It's like traverse town in kingdom hearts 1. Kinda just gotta wander until you stumble into the clinic
Of course they had no money. Why else would they still be making 3DS games in 2019?
I don't think so. A lot of assets could be reused from the other 3 Mario and Luigi games. Toadette was in paper jam, so her sprite work could have easily been repurposed. Especially given that they went through the trouble of editing a regular toad sprite, why not reuse the toadette sprite and edit it?
Alphadream is certainly no stranger to reusing sprites and models. (They did for paper jam, from what I can recall)
@MarceloKatayama That's a really good point, forgot they actually had a Toadette sprite in that style already
Cripes. That… Would explain a lot. Hope those poor devs got new jobs. Preferably good ones.
My guess is they didn’t bother redoing the sprites for the unique Toads because of it being a low priority on AlphaDream’s already weak budget.
And/or because of Nintendo's IP team's mandates (though the first Blorbed Toad does keep his unique design in the remake).
@ I still have my doubts it was due to the IP team. These aren’t the Paper Mario devs. They usually do whatever they feel like.
I talked to speedrunners about this, they say it's random and the physics only apply in Juuuuump Mode.
@chugga Seriously? I could've sworn...
Well, learn something new every day.
14:20 Just completely missed that Toad kid. xD
24:08 So the Daredevil Boots override the Small Shell's effects.

USA Bowser: Aw, cry more, you big baby! You’re just ticking me off!
EU Bowser: You annoying little…! You’re really ticking me off!
"you're not gonna need defence cause you'll be dodging every attack"
Meanwhile, Mario dies every episode because he doesn't dodge AND has Daredevil boots equipped
Yes In fact they remade this game in hopes that it would sell well enough to not go bankrupt

@@gxstalten That would be great.
4:16 Emile, please never say that word again.
Edit: 6:05 Good lord Emile XD
I'm gonna be honest, when I saw the remastered blorb scene, I thought the couple was made gay due to the lack of distinction of the mother. I was like "Oh hey, way to respect pride rights guys." but nope, the mom is just horribly indistinguishable from other toads now.
This is really funny...
they sent the toads to conversion therapy
Starlow being able to lift the Mario bros during the Bowser fight had me wondering. If she could easily support the weight for both bros, why couldn’t she just fly them over the blockade? Sure, we still need the star cures for the blorbs, but not for the Dark Star.
Progress Report: N/A
Well, she might not be able to move much with both, and hindsight and all.
Dont forget to look for the pathway to the yellow block when you were getting the blueshell out of the yellow pipe please.
The interaction between the Small Shell and Daredevil boots:
The small shell makes you take 0 damage from the next hit, while the daredevil boots makes you die on first hit. Even though the shell made you take 0 damage, you still took a hit, so the boots kill you.
1:09 Unfortunately, it came out during the Sticker Star/"Mario Mandates" era. The generic designs were going to happen one way or another.
I think, in this case, it was less about the mandates and more “AlphaDream needed to recycle as many assets from Dream Team and Paper Jam as possible because they had literally no money left.”
@@LeafRazorStorm A little of both, I say.
3:15 - 5:33
Never in my life have I ever witnessed Chugga use 2-3 generations’ worth of slang up until now.
Now that he has, I’m genuinely scared.
It feels like he put some kind of arcane curse on me, I'm terrified frankly.
I like how the crystal ball is actually correct. Bowser is heading to Dimble Woods to find the sage.
So yes, Sage location Bowser's Body, Dimble Woods.
I'll never understand in-universe reason why the fancier shops turn away *THE* Mario and Luigi, since they're heroes and celebrities
I made a joke to a friend about how Mario practically being a prince consort should've let them in
@@wizwitch5318 Haha, yeah
0:42 I still remember him trying to drown himself for blorbed Toad’s voice
9:04 Was NOT expecting Emile to mention the clothing store I always visit.
They got some great pop music there.
After fighting all of the strange things in bowser’s body I bet it’s good to treat some familiar ground by fighting bowser himself
Looks like him? That _was_ him.
I really wish we had a boss fight where we fight Mario and Luigi as Bowser!
Isn’t Chuggs a known sex pest?
Bowser what?! Anyway, I found this moment both funny and awkward since Bowser doesn’t remember inhaling the bros.
1:03 My jaw hurts from how much it dropped after learning that (I am not kidding)
Hearing Emile say skibidi made me realize what year it is.
Toad Town has the best ost in the entire M&L series for me, and the other series have some bangers. Makes me feel like a 9 year old again hiding my DS before school so my siblings don’t mess up my boss fight 😅
So glad I’m not using the Daredevil Boots myself. All those faints to Bowser AUTOMATICALLY make them NOT worth equipping.
When you get good at it its insanely good
I can't wait for the moment where emile gets mario killed due to the daredevil boots and realizes he's out of 1UPs AND luigi is also about to die...you know that's gonna happen sooner or later.
(You do spend a lot of 1 ups, though.
iirc there's an auto revive equip you get later? could just be once per battle though
Yeah same. I'm not playing along but I was getting frustrated watching Mario die that easily. I don't play "danger strats" on any game for that reason.
Bowser completely assaulting Mario's body while he's down feels surprisingly in character...
THE DS TURNS 20 TODAY, ALONG WITH 16 OTHER NINTENDO PROPERTIES
Just because the DS is 20 years old doesn't mean its free from Emile's predation...
*Mario bruised, tired, and coughing up blood*: "You... You should-a see... The other-a guy..."
Emile, please, NEVER say "skibidi" EVER again.
When did he say that?
Glad to see Mario and Luigi fight and prevail through a deadly disease like Bowseritis. You would think Peach would have something like that
I think I know what’s going on with the Jump Helmet’s seemingly random hits? If you land on the front of the spring, you bounce further forward, and if you land further back, you go closer to straight up, and I think you get more or less hits depending on how quickly you get to the enemy, so landing on the back of the helmet will end up dealing more damage. This is also a good tip for the challenge node, since you can actually kinda aim for or away from the clocks
You're exactly right, you can experience it clearly when you play the challenge mode.
0:46 ironically american dream did
Saw it first under construction at the widow outside my 2nd grade classroom when I was 7. 17 years later and I couldn’t even go there when it opened
4:16 “Please, never talk again.”
-Vinesauce Joel
26:22 It may have been exaggerated during the juuuuuump mode that mario’s landing position on the spring would dictate the height and distance of the next bounce, maybe that translates to regular gameplay?
Ah yes, the obligatory bowser fight. Each game in the series has to have it. Tis tradition
4:16
The speed the neck turned to the screen genuinely hurt me i never thought I'd hear him say that
“Everyone’s down with the blorbs!”
I guess you could say everyone’s...
down with the sickness?
0:13 this probably because of budgetary reasons though, since alphadream was already having financial troubles
Its really too bad the BiS remake was essentially their last hail mary and it turned out to be one of the worst selling Mario games...
4:16 Emile no, Cease this use of that word and the other "brainrot" words
Bowser using the goomba attack to hitario even though hes already dead:
Chuuga: Stop, hes already dead 😱🥺
Yes, indeed!
Begs the question how he got through off screen
Also the way bowser heals himself half way in the fight in the remake, it’s like all the work we did was for nothing
He uses a special drumstick that heals 9999 HP. As if the fight wasn’t hard enough, they insisted you experience the Fury phase for the entire HP bar
@@smackjack78the fact that he casually has that drumstick
The fact that the Daredevil boots overrides the small shell SUCKS. Most other games with 'OHKO' mechanics always put the nullify first hit taken as something that DOES benefit you!
I like to imagine Bowser was slowly crawling to the nearby pipe when he woke up in the Toad Town Tunnels.
1:10
my theory is that since Alphadream was already going bankrupt when they made Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey they had to use more "generic" designs because it uses the artstyle of the other 3ds M&L games to have a lower budget
7:03 Chugga sniffing body parts thinking there was a camera? WHY???
This is tragically a very common thing he does. Emile (aka Chugga) is a known sex pest.
Everyone is whining about Chugga saying the dreaded “skibbidi”. Guys, Chugga’s a dork and that’s why we love him. Let him be silly and have fun.
Thank you im sick of people act like its the end of the world when someone says a brainrot word
the "in the remake" reminds me of Chugga's 2nd playthrough of Earthbound with the "In Japan" bits
Wow...the soundbyte of Emile saying "skibidi" is easily the single worst thing to come out of his mouth since "I'm inside Daisy's heart-shaped box"
Happy 20th anniversary to the Nintendo DS. While I didn’t beat it until a few years later, this was my first RPG.
Chugga: Says the word "Skibidi"
Community: "Wait that's illegal!"
29:00 regarding the security system I think that was something fawful installed because it doesn’t really make sense to have a toad town security system if it’s going to barely work on the one man that the entire security system is built to protect from。
Counterpoint: it's the same type of system that Fawful had to destroy to unseal the Dark Star so why eoukd he set it up just to destroy it?
@pokedude720 fair point
Either way it’s kind of å plothole ngl
He could have just been like clear that it’s his wiþ some name or something on it to tell you it’s his but no it has to be å weird thing that doesn’t make sense since it’s fawful。
As someone who grew up with NSMB and Sticker Star, it's weird seeing how colorful and unique the franchise as a whole was, and how watered-down everything looks in comparison.
Also, that Bowser fight is the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE 💀
Emile, please never be “hip” with the generation again.
I dunno if it has been mentioned yet, but Another nice little touch with the “Nooz” enemy is that their feet are the corresponding mustache of the corresponding colored Bro. They are different mustaches for each bro lol
