I think this may be based off a book I read in middle school (can't remember the name). There was an illness of some sort going around the village, and the main character's parents sent her out to find medicine. Come to find out, it was actually the 21st century, and they were living in a museum, observed by other's wanting to see what life was like in the 19th century....Crazy story
I accidentally found that book sometime after I had watched this dumpster fire. The book isn't great, but it's okay. However, I think that the movie is NOT based on the book. More than 35 years ago, I wrote several extremely UNIQUE sci-fi stories that I kept secret, & that I never allowed ANYBODY else to know even existed. However (at least 20 years later at the earliest), I have read a few sci-fi stories (& even a few sci-fi movies) that were VERY similar to MY sci-fi stories. Despite their similarities, I KNOW that they didn't "steal my ideas" because they never knew that MY sci-fi stories existed. My point is that sometimes people can have similar stories that are NOT "stolen from somebody else's stories".
Idk why anyone (besides his own parents) would feel bad for Noah...he should have been genuinely locked up as soon as it happened (like chained up to a chair or to a wall and with handcuff & what not..) Like he literally tried to kill Lucius and then he was trying to hurt and or kill ivy in the Forest if not do something worse, so yeah fuck that guy. (And I know he is supposed to be mentally slow or whatever but he still knew what he was doing was wrong....
One time i was walking in a trail with a friend and seen red things on the ground and it reminded me of this movie but i couldn't remember the title. I asked her "do you remember what movie is called with people in the village?" And it just hit me as i said "the village" 🤣
I feel like the part that upsets me the most is Noah's part of the story. He shouldn't have been there if his parents weren't too busy running from their own horrors than Noah's wouldn't have ever started. He could've had gotten help if they lived in the city but now hes dead in a hole
I watched this movie when I was little, probably 8 or 10, and I had a pretty large yard that had a bunch or trees, that led into the woods. Needless to say, after watching this movie, I didn’t go outside in my backyard at night.

I was scared and glue on the sofa. That night I sleep glue to my boyfriend. In the beginning i was scare by the village monster but hen I realize how scary human can be...imagine growing up in a world where people are intentionally hidden reality and fabricated scary story to keep you around. People that you trust. That’s scary.
that "elders doing shady Halloween costume" was quite telling since they were so adamant to keep people away (no matter lucius being so smart with his theories)
This movie scared the hell of me first time I watched, the thing is, I didn't got to watch all of it, just a part of it, the scary part, and never got to watch it all until some months ago. I had nightmares for day's.
This movie would have been fantastic if one scene would have been put farther in the movie. The scene where her father tells her what's going on should have been after she ran into the monster. When they show that scene, you can tell that she already knows the monster is just a man at that point. They could have started the scene woth the father right before the monster falls into the pit.
I don’t think so, the intention seemed to make you question if the monster are actually there, in the forest you hear her dad talking about how theirs folk legends of them actually being there
I remember being disappointed with this movie as a kid due to the twist and it not being scary at all. What I never realized is how many great actors they snagged for this film. Small time and big time alike.

Come to find out, it was actually the 21st century, and they were living in a museum, observed by other's wanting to see what life was like in the 19th century....Crazy story
If you ever remember please come back here and share it!
the book is called Running Out of Time!
@@lotusblossom1550 thank you so much!!
Running out of time by Margaret Peterson haddox
Idk why anyone (besides his own parents) would feel bad for Noah...he should have been genuinely locked up as soon as it happened (like chained up to a chair or to a wall and with handcuff & what not..)
Like he literally tried to kill Lucius and then he was trying to hurt and or kill ivy in the Forest if not do something worse, so yeah fuck that guy. (And I know he is supposed to be mentally slow or whatever but he still knew what he was doing was wrong....
Finally!! Someone agrees. I never liked that dude
Noah was locked up as soon as they found out he stabbed Lucius and he died in the forest before anyone knew he attacked Ivy
Wait he was trying to kill Ivy? I thought he was playing a game like they did earlier?
@@susanhynes1277 yea he was going to kill her. he was the one torturing and killing all the animals too
He was mentally unstable. He couldn't tell what was right or wrong because he acted on pulsions, raw emotional need and not on consciousness.
Kevin is an epitome of faith in humanity has been restored
This movie made me fall in love with Bryce Dallas Howard, I loved her even more in the Lady in the Water which was by M. Night as well.
I’m enjoying a Friday night ‘movie marathon’ watching movie recaps!
I've seen this movie several times. Its the best film this director has ever made.
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS MOVIE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I always loved this movie, but I haven't seen it in a long time. I might have to go hunt this down and watch it again! I love this channel!
What is the name of this movie
@@JoeMama-bf6ns The Village. It's a good movie too!
@@elizabethgaspodnetich4322 thanks
The Village is one of my favourite movies, glad u did a video on it
One time i was walking in a trail with a friend and seen red things on the ground and it reminded me of this movie but i couldn't remember the title. I asked her "do you remember what movie is called with people in the village?" And it just hit me as i said "the village" 🤣
Atleast Ivy and Lucius were alive and lived happily
That plot tho. Damn, I didn't expect that lol
Sees a creature and instantly leaves the forest. Always loved that for him! 😂
Anybody who sees this
Have a blessed day
*To be honest I make fantastic videos but people don't watch them 😞😭*

this is like when my parents told me a 3 eyed monster will eat me if I don't go to sleep.. like how is that suppose to help me?
The blind girl is now one of the directors of The Mandalorian.
The village: finds a cheez it box:
Also the village:💀💀💀💀
I feel like the part that upsets me the most is Noah's part of the story. He shouldn't have been there if his parents weren't too busy running from their own horrors than Noah's wouldn't have ever started. He could've had gotten help if they lived in the city but now hes dead in a hole
I remember watching this when I was younger with my mom it's a wonderful movie
I watched this movie when I was little, probably 8 or 10, and I had a pretty large yard that had a bunch or trees, that led into the woods. Needless to say, after watching this movie, I didn’t go outside in my backyard at night.
M. Night Shyamalan did a great job on the village 10/10
This one of my favorite creepy movies as a kid❤️
This movie is underrated. A great movie.
I remember being scared shitless when I watched this as a 7 yo or maybe 8
I remember watching this and ugh I still love this movie. Have to watch it again maybe my thoughts will change
That officer who had helped Ivy with the medicine, will be thinking about what happened that day for the rest of his life
I really like Shyamalan - he is my favourite writer / director - most if not all his films are awesome.
Nothing is more beautiful than deep love...
❤
😭
ive actually seen this moive a long time ago. underrated. great movie
Oh my, I literally saw 30s of this when I was like 6yrs old, and I remember just a snippet, been trying find this since then and I'm currently 22. So glad RUclips was like "here you go buddy it's been long enough"
wow, just realized that this movie has many good actors !! Watching this move this weekend !!
Love of ivy for her lover made me emotional..
When you already know the plot because of scary movie 4
that "elders doing shady Halloween costume" was quite telling since they were so adamant to keep people away (no matter lucius being so smart with his theories)
Tbh, Being an 18-year-old. I have no time to waste 2hrs for movies and I feel so lucky to find Movie Recap.
The village noises: HEH
me: MINECRAFT! :D
This movie scared the hell of me first time I watched, the thing is, I didn't got to watch all of it, just a part of it, the scary part, and never got to watch it all until some months ago. I had nightmares for day's.
M night Shyamalan never dissapoints me and this was one of his better movies
I love his movies. Not even Airbender bothers me, after all, the original did steal money from Japan.
For all now watching this in 2023
Yes sir😂
This movie would have been fantastic if one scene would have been put farther in the movie. The scene where her father tells her what's going on should have been after she ran into the monster. When they show that scene, you can tell that she already knows the monster is just a man at that point. They could have started the scene woth the father right before the monster falls into the pit.
I love this movie but I agree with you
I always thought it as thinking the creature being actually real was the original thought
I don’t think so, the intention seemed to make you question if the monster are actually there, in the forest you hear her dad talking about how theirs folk legends of them actually being there
Watching this before sleeping jst makes ur day 😆
This is one of my favourite movies and the music is just perfect
RiPELY ! (Sigourney Weaver) i legit didn’t notice how she was in the village. It’s been ages sense I’ve seen this film
"you run like a boy."
"thank you"
you run like a girl -> why do you insult my very existence
I remember being disappointed with this movie as a kid due to the twist and it not being scary at all. What I never realized is how many great actors they snagged for this film. Small time and big time alike.
Omg you are going through all my younger classic!!!you're amazing please keep it up..I'm a forever supporter now
Bryce Dallas Howard is a beautiful creature, her husband is the luckiest man in the world
She looks so much like Jessica Chastain here! Lol
@@roniereal yea also a lil bit of Natalie portman, but not that much
This was a great recap thanks!
When u realize 2 years was just last 2years
I love how he said "then they kiss" lmao
I remember watching this movies atvthe age of 25. And the village elders reminded me of the government and the village children and the citizen discovering the truth as you get older and read and do research.
