Iceweed, surprisingly enough, synergizes really well with fire plants, as his fire rate means that the second a fire plant thaws a zombie, it gets chilled again. It works especially well with inferno, as he pushes zombies back onto the iceweeds once they've walked off them. Loud plants stick together.

For favourite plants in the franchise as a whole I'd go with:
Coconut Cannon- Very simple to use manual plant that has a very large impact in the field due to his pretty fast recharge, reasonable cost and really good base damage that can weaken any tough zombie enemy into something much more manageable as well as wiping dense zombie hordes pretty easily with the splash damage. He's also very fun to use in general. Would def use this as a gold standard for manual plants as well as heavy plants in general.
Lava Guava-Very potent insta that is pretty much a godsend on any level with freeze gimmicks. The lava pool it leaves can thin out very dense clusters easily as well as severely weakening tougher zombies, while also being pretty good at stalling Gargantuars if you immediately place Lava Guava in front of them. It also doesn't interfere with plants that inflict chill or freeze much like Snow Pea or Winter Melon like most fire plants, so that's a huge plus in my book. Very good insta overall that I'm surprised hasn't gotten much more traction before.
Hypno Shroom- This guy has way more potential than what most people think. Very useful early grave removal for levels that love spamming graves alot throughout the lawn as well as turning tanky zombies like Brickheads or Cone Mechs into very durable walls to protect your plants with while also pushing through weaker zombies without much trouble. Plus the plant food is just really funny

18:03 When I played cracked vanilla I've had my fair share of favourites.
Electric Currant with Garlic. Divert zombies in the second and fourth lane and fry them up. Also pairs quite well with the three weeds mentioned in the video, especially with Iceweed or any slows and stalls in general. Rotobaga or Starfruit also make for a great mid lane.
Another one was Celery Stalker. Without the cracked upgrades I thought that it was useless and it kinda was BUT. It deals high enough damage to be viable and also has quite a bit of HP to stall the crowd. Overall I like letting the whole level pass through only held back by the Thyme warp and then spam the Stalker and its PF to fill the level and watch as the crowd just... disappears.
Another one was the Banana. Basically a miles better Cob Cannon. Faster reload, shorter fire-hit interval, great damage, what else does a plant need? Well, maybe some sun production.

I've actually used Iceweed, and I'd like to input my thoughts, as I think it's actually pretty interesting.
Firstly, and most obviously, stalling a zombie above a Spikeweed will allow Spikeweed to do more damage.
Secondly, however, there's the synergies that Iceweed's chilling effect presents:
-Bonk Choy has a greater time window to punch chilled zombies before they reach it.
-Primal Peashooter can keep chilled zombies trapped on Iceweed by applying repeated knock back.
-Melon Pult can do splash damage to a dense clump of chilled zombies. Worth noting that using Melon Pult and Iceweed is cheaper than using Wintermelon and Spikeweed.
You aren't using it as a staller to slow zombie progress, but instead, you're using it as a staller to make zombies vulnerable to things that can either kill them or to things that do a better job of slowing zombie progress.
I definitely recommend giving it a shot, should you get the chance. It's got a lot of potential.

My favorite plant would be the Kernel-Pult. Getting the lucky butter to freeze the zombie in place for a short amount of time was so rewarding as a kid, especially when you would get multiple butters in the row. I feel like it's balanced, both with the luck aspect and the fact that the kernel attack probably does less damage than a cabbage or a pea

“Simple to understand, doesn’t have any inherent complexities, but can be used in complex ways.”
Exactly what should be strived for. When designing games, we tend towards making the overall design complex instead of making the strategies around them complex. I’ve fallen into that trap at least once.
But when we make a design intuitive, and instead build upon it with interesting ways to use it, we get great design. We get Spikeweed.

    (just some of them)
Bonk-Choy: he is reliable, has good damage, good cost for what he does, and his plantfood is cherry bomb but looks cooler.
Outclassed by newer plants? Yes, but... who cares?
Zoybean: I just really like this little bean, while he might not be that unique as he servers as a permanent Hypno-Shroom and a more reliable Caulipower. He is still a really cool plant that I really like. Even though he ain't the most original.
Celery Stalker: he is a sneaky Bonk-Choy, and I really like Bonk-Choy.
Also funny joke there PopCap, put a plant with "Stalker" in it's name just before the level where you send girl zombies.
Chomper: I always loved Chomper, since PvZ1, soo of course he is one of my favorites in PvZ2.

another plant you can pair with this is pvz2's current torchwood.
the fire dmg when near + lane wide dmg upon defeat will prove to be enough to kill a group of cone heads or even some bucketheads. the only problem is its durability compared to some defensive plants. it only has 2000 compared to durian's 3000. plus torchwood can only do 10 dmg at close while durian can do 20 dmg at close. but due to the lanewide defeat, it could be a strong temporary offensive shield when you need to create a stronger defense.

major reason i say pvz1 is because pvz2 or even mods really don't use water a lot.

Spikeweed/rock/Iceweed can also be used as a really good prospector counter in the back with pumpkin, because if it flies to c1 and you have a row of pumpkins and spikeweeds down, they still attack and take care of them before they can kill all your plants, sorta like a weird and probably worse endurian.

    • @hanzzel6086
