Take in mind that leveling was NOT part of the poll and wasn't taken into consideration. EDIT: Please stop with the "this plant is now available in all worlds", I know, I've gotten a ton of comments already.
Now that Hot Potato, Gold Leaf, Thyme Warp and Perfume Shroom can be used in all worlds now, I think Thyme Warp would make it to the top 5, while Gold Leaf would be higher than it used to be.
Naahh gold leaf has high cooldown better to add more damage to your arsenal rather than waiting for producing 50 sun only with high cooldown.. But i would say thyme warp will be in top 10
The problem with these kind of polls is that the lower ones are just the forgotten ones, there is no way Tangle Kelp or Tall Nut can be worse than Spring Bean for example, these kind of polls work best for top 10s, but a full ranking usually doesn't end up too well.
Idk how lightning reed made it so high up. If anyone thinks lighting reed is as good as dusk lobber or winter melon they should try to use reed as the only attacker on a harder world like jm or bwb. Its not a bad plant but it is not better than primal peashooter
Forgot to mention, Primal Potato Mine is also unnecessarily quick to deploy. I think it takes like 1-2 lanes away from the zombie for it to finish deploying which is very good
Yea really good in arena - 1 lane deployment time, not only does it arm in 5 seconds zombies need to spend 3 seconds to eat it. So it's almost like no arming time.
@@TunaBear64 You really can't wait for zombies to walk one tile? Plus you can plant them in last stand setup to instantly arm. Oh and thanks for replying after four months.
For perfume shroom being ranked literally the lowest it was actually an integral part of my round 50 in Jurassic swamps. Since so many dinosaurs in the later rounds can be almost impossible to deal with using perfume shroom and power lily to recharge it and get a second one to just give myself a little bit of breathing room and focus resources on other lanes was actually huge
Anybody who doesn't like Kernel Pult has clearly never had the pleasure of watching butter rain down and hearing that satisfying thump over and over. The only way to beat the rng is by planting loads and loads of Kernel Pults.
What makes Primal Sunflower used more often than other sun producing plants is that she only costs 75 sun, produces 75 sun, has a fast recharge, and doesn't need time to grow. Twin Sunflower produces twice as much sun but her main drawback is her 125 sun cost and mediocre recharge. Sunflower is your first sun producing plant that gets outclassed later on because you need to build more son to deploy your forces faster. Sun-shroom is cheap and can produce larger suns as it grows, but its weakness is that it takes a long time for them to grow to full size and once it gets destroyed, you have to start all over. Moonflower may be able to produce twice as much like the Twin Sunflower, it has a weak Plant Food effect and it also has a mediocre recharge. In addition, its gimmick requires to be near shadow plants to produce the max value.
Something worth mentioning is that Primal Sunflower is strong also because of the sun boost upgrade which lets you start off with 25 extra sun. Otherwise, you'd have only 50 sun and you have to wait patiently for roughly ten seconds to get to 100 sun and then be able to place primal sunflower. If not for that upgrade, I think that sunshroom would have taken the cake just because your early game would be much smoother. Twin sunflower is weak mostly because its easier to use other sun producers and also, in 50 sun meta, what would have been very costly in PVZ1 is now rather cheap and accessible. You can use normal sunflowers and still play a bunch of melon pults and primal potato mines to get rid off zombies instead of risking an early-game defeat with twin sunflower. If you purchase bonus upgrades for money, you could immediately back your moonflower with a shadow shroom for boosted sun production in the early game. (it's not a bad idea in fact) Edit (TLDR): People take the upgrades for granted but if you think about it, an additional 25 or 50 sun is all you need to have a better and smoother early-game.
I think the purpose is to let players know that he works well with Phat Beets. Yeah I agree that Garlic can't do his best in NMT but in endless modes, "Phat Beets + Garlics" is one of my favourite duos!
Honestly the only surprise to me was that Primal Wall-Nut wasn't in the top ten. It's almost unfair how much durability he has for how fast and cheap he is.
Primal potato mine is quite literally the "aight i dont know what else for arena mode, guess i'll just use it as a backup." or you literally grab it and tile turnip (with power lily probably) and just obliterate arena mode. and trust me, the pvz2 devs are aware of this crap. On one of the days of the festivus calendar, it was primal potato mine with a literal offer in the shop that gave: primal potato mine seeds, tile turnip seeds, bombard-mint and enchant-mint seed packets. and its also just powerful by itself too, you LITERALLY cant go wrong with choosing this plant
@@-ArdhaniChandra Not necessarily. A whole line of Tall Nuts had more defense than an Infi-Nut's plant food. Plus, Plant food is a little unpredictable sometimes, whereas Tall Nuts will work 100% of the time!
@@exactlyhowareyou513 That still strongly depends on availability of that one plant food. Tall Nuts need to be buffed though. For example, fisherman zombie should not be capable of pulling Tall Nuts into water; instead, he should deal 3 zombie bites worth of damage per hook (for consistency, Infinut's shield should also receive that damage); fisherman zombie should hook some milliseconds slower. Correct me if I am wrong: Tall Nut already tanks two gargantuar shots, right? If not, do that too. Tall Nut is expensive and recharges slow. It deserves to be a stronger tank. *Edit:* Blover still makes Tall Nut obsolete in other worlds though. Blover needs a recharge time nerf (or a sun cost nerf), optionally a bigger dead time and should not kill zombies which are just bounced back. Blover however should be able to blow away any thrown octopi though.
*Suggestion for ranking premium plants:* Rank premium plants released from game launch to neon mixtape tour and premium plants after that separately. If I recall correctly, Popcap started adding plants which are direct upgrades (or very overpowered versions) of the existing plants, starting from Jurassic Marsh. The list would be skewed if you rank them all together; that's why.
@@justacat2318 Escape root is higher skill-cap plant. If you can manage sun production and seed recharge well, it has zero arming time and damages atleast in 1x1 area, making it ATLEAST equal to squash. But it has 50% chance to hit 3x3 as well (not to mention, one of 3x3 AOE plant it spawns is grapeshot); also, this plant is versatile in general. This definitely an upgrade to squash but it is designed well to make it not feel so!

7:05 I am surprised that it has been so low, corn is one of the plants that I chose the most together with my friends, and more in PvZ2 because by giving it a nutrient its special paralyzes to all the zombies with butter, his weakness is the jester and other zombies that reflect objects, but it's easy to fix if you combine some kind of nut with the lazer bean or the Fume-Shroom
I remember that great combo, also, recently re downloaded the game just to see that worlds are now linear, pretty shitty ngl, I liked it a lot more when you could get keys every eight level

For me, I prefer Sun Shrooms more than Primal Sunflower, due to the fact that it's cost is 50 more suns and in the early game, that actually hurt a lot. However, I do see why most people prefer Primal Sunflower more and I do agree why it should be the best sun producer. Also you should do this with PvZ2C too!
Well, the thing is that I use sun producers as walls. I place them in front of my dps plants (this makes sunshroom a no for me bc you need to protect it)
I'm still a great fan of Lightning Reed. The way (s)he strikes every zombie and spreads the electricity out is relaxing and will be extremely useful in the stages containing a great number of zombies.

Ever since I started playing PVZ 2, Snapdragon has been my all time favorite. If you put down a lane of them you can basically deal with any zombie, except fire resistant zombies. Which is why I would pick Ice Snapdragon for best plant, since he’s Snapdragon but can also deal fire resistant zombies.
But that makes the entirity of the frostbite caves harder given that they’re resistant to cryo attacks and don’t get affected by the slow, which in combination with Cold snapdragons shorter range, gives it a harder time
I Also like snapdragon aswell, the one thing i do so i dont waste much sun (750 sun for 1 lane of snapdragon level 1) is i put three snapdragon on to the middle, not on the two sides (top and bottom) since snapdragon already attacks 3 lanes

Pea pod is awesome for long levels with not much planting room. I remember he was specifically the reason of how I got past a hard level near to the end of frostbite caves. If you have enough time then this guy can shred. I agree with magnifying grass honestly, any level that requires you to produce X amount of sun, he is an instant pick. Reg melon pult should be higher, he is the exact same as winter only without the slowing effect and is more affordable, and combined with tile turnip he is an absolute wave shredder.
That being said, phat beet is one of the only plants not affected by the boombox zombie. That, and it does 3x3 area damage. It should rate a bit higher, especially if you divert zombies around it with garlic. It’s a lot like gloom shroom from the original PvZ.
@@Felix048 it's pretty alright from my experience though not as good as pvz1. though that might just be because of overarching game design changes like level pacing
Yes that's exactly what I thought when Phat Beet came up so low in the rank! Kinda sad to see many people underrate this plant. He deserved to be a bit higher (not too high but still).
Reasons why Snapdragon is at least top 10 story mode plants: - warms around - AoE - decent recharge time - decent cost - entire row is OP - basically unlocked at the start of the game
Perfume-Shroom isn't bad at all! Many worlds have that one plant so counter a gimmick, such as Spring Bean in Pirate Seas, EM Peach in Far Future, and Tangled Kelp in Big Wave Beach. All of which are pretty effective in taking out zombies in that world!
Perfume Shroom is not a good counter. Having played Jurassic Marsh again recently, I can tell you right now that the Dinos are spawned far too frequently and across too many lanes for Perfume Shroom to possibly keep up. Moreover, the slightly redeemable world gimmick plants usually have some use outside of their dedicated appearance, Perfume Shroom doesn't. Its bottom tier placement is 100% deserved, and it deserves the hate it gets for being a poor gimmick.
@@GNVS300 Boring? That sounds amazing, actually, lol. Jurassic Marsh is plain frustrating due to the poor control one can have over dinos thanks to the lackluster counter Perfume Shroom is. Meteor Flower's Plant food effect is a lot better in that regard

Theres alot of stuff in the game that has to be metal in real life to be effective tbh, example is the roman shield. Basically they kind of nerfed magnet shroom alot in the new game by not adding much to counter with it, it was very viable in the first pvz.
I'm glad lightning reed ended up high in this list, but i never expected it to be number 6. Some people say it's outclassed by laser bean, but thankfully someone pointed out its slow firing rate. I'm just happy lightning reed didn't end up with other "good, but no one uses them" plants.
I’ll admit, I did use lightning reed as my attacker in WW or if chickens are in the selection. But other than that, lightning reed is so weak. There isn’t really good reason to spam lightning reed when they’re better options.
@@77elite9 Lightning reed is a great plant to spam, better laser bean tbh. Sure it's weak but its ability to shoot in three lanes and chain off hoards of zombies is what makes it so powerful and for cheap too. Yes, the early game can be a bit rough but it decimates late game. I suggest using it more, I've used it as my only attacker to beat bwb and most of modern day.
@@jacobgeometry6565 these good qualities you’ve listed aren’t enough for me to consider using lightning reed after unlocked other plants. I tried using it for other worlds and laser bean performed so much better than lightning reed. Sorry but laser bean is better imo.
@@77elite9 Laser bean and lightning reed have similar struggles but honestly early game with lightning reed is easier because its cheaper. It's crowd control is much better also, especially on harder levels. And it fares better against stronger zombies when spammed because it can attack in adjacent lanes and also much faster (So as stronger zombies approach lightning reeds hone in on it, sort of like a homing thistle.). Lasar bean is a great option too it just can't handle tough bwb beach levels which begin the lanes with swarms. With lightning reed it costs 250 to cover all lanes, 1000 with lasar beans (albeit, this would only provide defence against reg zombies) However, it is still 4x cheaper and completely necesary, laser bean simply can not put up with those early game imp/reg zombie rushes in bwb etc.
@@jacobgeometry6565 I’ve always had more trouble setting up with lightning reeds than with laser bean. I’m not exactly sure why this is the case but even despite this, I’d rather use something else that is easier than both to set up.

But the problem is that in alot of times, peashooter do better at killing zombies since peashooter's projectile is faster than cabbage pult and since grave is rarely a problem, most people perfer peashooter. Still a decent plant tho. People also like it more since it the face of pvz
@@imwellings i'd say a tier or two up, people really underestimate how much you can get from it, especially since it's effect stacks you can get like 500 sun off of one zombie lol
That sounds really good except you’re overlooking several factors which contribute to Sun Bean’s effectiveness being worse. Notably that 500 sun is its maximum potential in 1 specific world, Sun Bean usage in early game is absolute garbage and that pvz2’s pacing is very quick and fast which doesn’t allow Sun Bean to work well near mid to late game.

Rotobaga is another one I never understood the hype for, but here it's prolly because I just simply don't really use it, no reason given.
If you power up Spring Bean and immediately use Blover while all the Zombies are up in the air you can clear the entire board. That may be why people were adding Spring Bean to the higher part of the list. It's a devastating combination attack to the Zombies no matter what Zombies/Gargantuars are on the board.
5:50, fume shroom is better than laser bean is every way, it has: a SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper cost faster fire rate, meaning more consistent dps and limited range. if ur skeptical about that last one due to the way zombies spawn, damaging them makes them come faster, with laser bean doing damage to EVERY SINGLE ZOMBIE IN THAT LANE, well, the speed of the horde increases exponentially, not to mention laser beans ABYSMAL single target dps, it is on par with a peashooter, and can barely handle basics, let alone coneheads or specialized zombies, so if you want to bring laser bean, not only do you need 2 other seed slots dedicated to attacking plants (one for early game like kernel pult, and a single target monster like gatling or citron). but with fume shroom, it's limited range allows it to either be placed closer to the right, for an aggressive playstyle with torchwood or something, or you can place it further back and set up slatters like sap fling so you can focus on more expensive plants like banana launcher or cob cannon.
I don't really know what you meant by best. Like, best looking? Best balanced? Best to me personally? Best represents the franchise? Best for any situation and is broken? In the end, I went with the latter and chose Magnifying Grass as #1, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else based their decision from one of the other examples.
@@nickk3077 i think cuz the other ones were worse and they technically aren‘t even that bad. they are decent. just overshadowed by all the other plants above

2:28 Actually Phat Beet is the most reasonable plant in Neon Mixtape Tour as he looks most suitable in a music world. Also, for those who don't know, he is immune to Boombox Zombies since he wears a headphone!
I disagree with primal sunflower being 2rd place. Despite the big Sun producing power, she costs 75 suns. It looks cheap, but it is a expensive cost for a Sun producer. I think Sun Shroom is better than her. Also, in my opinion, Moonflower is actually the Best Sun producer in the game. It's cheap(50 Suns), Higher Sun producing power than Twin Sunflower(10 suns of difference) and also boost other shadow plants. But i also think that Primal Sunflower is not a bad sun-producer, either. She's actually a great Sun producer. The only downside is the cost, making you suffer at the beggining of a level(unless you are using Gold Bloom). So, to those who think that Primal Sunflower is the best sun producer in the game, it's fine. You can continue to use her.
Fume-Shroom, Melon Pult, Repeater, Wall-Nut, Stalia and Stunion are way too low, but decent rankings otherwise (mostly). Peashooter was... an interesting choice to get into the top 35, but I find it funny so it passes. I have such great humor, I know.

(it's not a bad idea in fact)
Edit (TLDR): People take the upgrades for granted but if you think about it, an additional 25 or 50 sun is all you need to have a better and smoother early-game.

Tall nut is a great counter towards flying zombies! He's a great extra option sometimes! Too bad Blover makes him obsolete most of the time... sigh...
Which outclassed by Infi-Nut plant food
@@-ArdhaniChandra Not necessarily. A whole line of Tall Nuts had more defense than an Infi-Nut's plant food. Plus, Plant food is a little unpredictable sometimes, whereas Tall Nuts will work 100% of the time!
@@nickk3077 1 plant food vs an entire line of the most expensive defensive barrier plant in the game?

Yeah but it doesn't really help that much in it's own world.
Combo with magnifying glass and primary sun flower, you can just clear the whole game with that combo.
Not quite, I personally love magnifying grass when I don't know how to use, but I usually support it with ppm and is useless in spend more than x sun and last stand.
I'm surprised Chad God is ranked this low. He's literally my Number 1 defensive plant
Chad guard is goated.
2:28 Actually Phat Beet is the most reasonable plant in Neon Mixtape Tour as he looks most suitable in a music world. Also, for those who don't know, he is immune to Boombox Zombies since he wears a headphone!
I was surprised that the creator came in sometimes with confusion on how some of the plants were ranked low or high.
The cost isn’t an issue since you get the starting sun upgrade in the first world
Primal sunflower give profit faster than sunshroom
Agreed but I prefer auto attacking plants so I'd lower magnifying grass for me.
Coconut cannon is also way too low especially below citron which coconut outclasses
@@pineappleonpizza028 also true
Additionally, Primal Potato Mine is really good in Arena also. 14:56

Cool, my favourite plant has the #28 spot here :)
I love how so many people who voted lightning reed voted as their first option. Y'all are truly based pvz2 players and I give you all my kudos

Potaytoh 😍😍😍🥰🥰
Wahey, 21 ain't bad! I was scared that Bonk would rank especially low, but he pulled through!
Welll not counting seediums, bonk is pretty good, but god forbid you throw pokra or head butter in there and bonk becomes useless
@@AidanTheCross Or Wasabi Whip
Bonk Choy is nice counter against Bug Zombies tho
That is what i said. But for banana launcher
I was shocked, i thought Bonk choy was gonna be much lower but 21???!?!?! thats better than i expected
Spring bean higher than Stunion is outrageous 💀💀
