It has to come down to exhaust tuning. The simplest way to put it is that there are 2 intake manifolds (one for each cylinder bank) and the exhaust from all 8 cylinders converge at the same point, causing those octave overtones that make a flatplane v8 sound amazing. Granted, crossplabe v8's sound good with it too.
Nah not really. Sounds like the Judd V8s of the era. The V10s create major 3rd musical intervals giving it the distinct sound. Still a wonderful sound from the V8 though.
To my ears it sounds nothing like a V10, honestly I'm not trying to bring you down it is just my opinion. The V10 /inline 5 is my favorite engine sound in the world. This engine has the overtones but the note just isn't the same. It still sounds really nice but not V10 I'm afraid.
