What is Madeira cake? I want to see the inside... does it have wine in it?

@MagentaOtterTravels It was a cake often served with Madeira wine but there's no wine in the cake itself.
Nigella says it's called Pound Cake in the US. It's more suitable than sponge cakes for birthday cakes as it won't collapse under the frosting.
