The Hashfield's Success was an amazing bit of kit. The later improved machine became the Allbrook & Hashfield. Here I cobble up an old machine to show you the basic principles. When I was a kid they were throwing these machines away. I wish I had caught a few of them! Don't forget to pop onto Sewalot.com for antique sewing machines. Enjoy.

Wow. Maybe that was how the serger was born. What ingenious design. Thanks for always bringing interesting videos to lus all. I have a few vintage machines which I cherish. They run well and never fail me. I use them most every day. Stay well. Stay safe.

That’s just fascinating! Thank you! My mum had a mink coat edged in skunk of all things. 😆

My uncle bought my aunt one. In the mid 1970s she gave it to me to walk the two miles to college. It used to shed fur like mad by then 🤣🤣

It is very interesting how the workings inside do all that work. I have one that is a treadle and no matter what way the wheel is turning from the belt towards or away, the feed wheels go only in one direction.

I have that exact same machine and use it frequently. Fur will always be important regardless of the bleeding hearts. I sew seal, mink, racoon, skunk, possum, and more. All renewable resources. I also have a Bonis fur machine and they are both busy all the time. However my Allbrook Hashfield is the best.

That was so interesting Alex, thank you for sharing. I wonder why the machine fell out of production, I can think of other applications.
