- ANDRA #ThrowbackThursday: With the passing and final farewell of Joe 'Buzzard' Gatt this this week, we go back to the 1992 NSW vs QLD State of Origin Wild Bunch at Eastern Creek. Benny Gatt leads the NSW team and if you look closely you can see 'Buzzard' making a cameo. RIP
Benny Gatt, a legend of Aussie motorsport and wildbunch!!!
The good old school days of Eastern Creek. The old Triple Chalange was awesome. When you could get within 10 ft of the fastest cars in Oz. Have some awesome memories. Back before the huge fences were put up.
The triple challenge was awesome I lived not far from Eastern creek and I went to all 3 days of the triple challenge as a kid with me mates , I've got so many awesome memories of going there most weekends , they were the best days of drag racing in Sydney the good old 90s kicked arse
@@nathj4818 For sure. And no huge fence to spoil the view.
Wild Bunch was the direct ancestor of Top Doorslammer (Pro Mod) class
That cleveland back in the day left most engine builders bewilderd how he got that much power out of it.
Have to agree. I used to do the heads on the 55 in the other lane and I know what hp it made. Even though both were grout filled blocks, there was a big cubic inch difference. I did often wonder how they got that sort of power out of it. The Gatt brothers were nice guys for being cockroaches ;o)
Loved watching these guys during this ear of drag racing in oz. Also amazing to think a barra with a set of rods, pistons and a 68mm turbo will put down the same power on e85.
OUTSTANDING !
Not Bad for A Cleveland 351 engine !
GONZO!!
Benny's a legend but no one beats the world burnout champ in his 57 Chevy.
But the Gatt gang also had the shit dialled in too.
My ties are with Mr Victor "Bowtie" Bray though...
Using a Keith Black hemi design, not a Chev. As far as i have heard.
