How fantastic and glad you enjoyed it, it's such an awesome place to visit. We only live 12 miles away and I am always driving passed it, so it was so nice to finally call in and do a proper tour around, don't know why I waited so long. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to watch and leave a comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Wow brilliant, real pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour and how cool to have a family connection like that! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Hello Friend, Very beautiful castel. I always watch your movies with great interest. Your content is so amazing and inspiring. Every time I support your channel and leave a thumbs up 👍
The castle was great, I really enjoyed looking a round it and it is only 12 miles away from where we live. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Thanks very much for watching, I really enjoyed the walk around, supposed to have an hours slot but I was there way over 2 hours, I loved it, cheers Alan
I have visited hundreds of castles in England,Wales and Scotland, but I have never got around to visiting this one.Its now on my list excellent video and info.
Thanks for watching Keith and talking the time to leave a comment, real good of you and I appreciate your kind words. The funny thing is Raby Castle is only 12 miles from us and I go passed it so many times on the way to the lakes and back but this was my first proper visit and I absolutely loved it. I hope you make it there some day soon, cheers Alan
Thanks for watching, real nice of you and with the weather being not the best, I thought a perfect opportunity to pay the castle a visit, especially as it is only 12 miles from where we live. Thank you for your good wishes and funny enough Mothers Day is in March in the UK, I wonder why it is on different dates. Take care, cheers Alan
Raby Castle is so amazing Alan, and it amazes me that it has been kept in such wonderful condition. The structure is way older than America as we know it today. I loved hearing the history and the tour. England is so rich in history. Our family history shows three brothers came to America from England. Two decided to stay and one said "to hell with this place" and eventually went back home. Obviously I'm from one who stayed. Lol. ✌
It was a real good day out Tony and I had an hours slot to visit the castle but ended up almost 2 hours, I was enjoying it so much. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Good morning and happy Monday Alan, what a fab castle indeed! Would not like to be a cleaner there, that's for sure! Se grand and super ornate rooms, wow! And the ceilings, yikes, mind boggling workmanship! ❤ And then the modest maids quarters, I think I qualify as Kat's maid? I often end up pouring the baths 🛁 😆 Interesting to learn about the history with you, nice video Alan we loved it, 4 big thumbs up from us 👍 👍 👍 👍 Is there a male heir in the offing? 👶 🏰 What a fabulous set and famous list of soaps and films, now more so than Emmerdale 🚜 ❤ Never heard of a turnspit dog until this morning wow! 🐕 😲 my something new learnt for today! 👨🏫 We really enjoyed that Alan, thanks 😊 have a great week, Ceri and Kat ☕ ❤ 😀 😊 👻
I always run Mrs Metalman a bubble bath every night lol. Yeah I was surprised that it still goes to a male descendant, normally the oldest son but if there is no son, only a daughter, it then goes to the next male in line, like a cousin, surprising these days. I loved the castle and I also loved the fact it was only a 12 mile trip back home too! Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Thanks for sharing this video. My family and I are heading there today. We're from the United States. We watch your videos all the time. We were going to hike today but the rain stopped that.
The curse of the British Bank Holiday weekend I'm afraid, you can guaranteed rain when there is a holiday Monday added on to the weekend. I hope you still got to the castle, as it is really nice to walk around and every room has a guide with so much information on the history of the castle. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment, real good of you and very much appreciate, good luck, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it and real pleased you can trace your family history back to one of the real powerful family's in the UK. The castle itself is amazing and only 12 miles away from where we live. Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment and a very Happy New Year to you, cheers Alan
A real impressive place to visit, I really enjoyed it and will be back again but in the summer months, it was dam chilly when I went. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Catching up on videos I missed watching while I've been on all these 4-5 day camping and hiking trips I have been on. I love castles! We don't really have any in the states, so I have to watch all my European RUclipsr friend's videos to see all the old architecture and beauty. Love that tidbit on the room colors verses them being numbered. That makes total sense. Enjoyed this one as always.~RVA~
Thanks for stopping by and I go pasted this castle every week on my travels and it's only 12 miles from where we live, so a nice short drive to visit, cheers Alan
"it takes two men two days to clean the chandelier" i couldnt help but think of the classic scene in only fools and horses :) Excellent and informative video tour of this fascinating place. I was lucky enough to visit Raby castle some years ago but im happy to see it again. Thanks for sharing, cheers from barnyz
Funny enough I mentioned that to the guide and he said if I had £1 for every time someone mentioned that I would be a rich man lol. A really enjoyable visit and only 12 miles away from where we live. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Fantastic video Alan and what a place Raby castle is. The opulent interior matched by the stunning architecture. Really enjoyed all your information too. A very interesting and tour. Thanks for taking us. Have a great week. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Thanks very much for watching, real good of you and a day I really enjoyed. Only 12 miles from home and at £9.50 for a castle and grounds ticket, an absolute bargain too, cheers Alan
Only about 12 miles away from where we live so nice and local and what a treasure it is too. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real nice of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
I don't believe this Alan....you have picked the perfect time to post this as we are coming up to Staindrop in a weeks time for a weeks holiday in a cottage...we shall be visiting Raby castle along with Barnard castle and the Bowes museum...lots of walking also planned.....thanks for this mate, good to see
Oh nice one and the castle is half a mile from Staindrop Village and I paid £9.50 for a castle and grounds ticket, which I thought was fantastic value. Only 15 miles away is Low and High Force, which is a brilliant walk and a must see if you are in the area (which you are) and you got a free park at Bowlees Visitor Centre car park. You can visit the very impressive Gibson's cave and Summerhill Force from there (5 minute walk) and then cross the road from the car park down to Low Force and then the walk up to High Force. I did a video of all this 9 months ago if you are interested and need any more info. Appreciate you watching, cheers Alan
You and me both lol! Nice for the gentry but I would have not liked to be the young boy who wad to be up before 04.00 every day lighting all the fires. A really enjoyable day and only 12 miles from home for me, so a nice short drive. Appreciate, you stopping by, cheers Alan
Oh that's brilliant and the Neville name is still very famous in the North of England. Funny enough I have drove passed Raby Castle for years but only visited for the first time last year and it was brilliant, I really enjoyed the walk about and seeing/leaning the castle history. Thanks very much for sopping by, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMANYes thank you for your videos. It surely helps a lot as I am currently studying my family tree and ancestors. I hope to visit my ancestral homelands one day and explore these magnificent pieces of history.
Beautiful castle. Great shots. The interior is fascinating, especially the chandeliers and the vault. Interesting history of the castle. Great presentation Alan 😀👍
Thanks for visiting, real nice of you and a nice short drive for me on this one, as it is only 12 miles from out home. A real nice castle inside and out, I has a one hour time slop but spent two hours walking around, I was enjoying it so much, cheers Alan
Interesting story about why they would sleep sitting up. Really nice place and so close to where you live! Also didn't know about the dog rotating the meat.
Must admit I found it fascinating there, really enjoyed my visit and ended up stopping twice as long as I was supposed to have. So nice to only have a 20 minute drive home as well, makes a nice change lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Oh man, you know how I love a good castle - and this one is in EXCELLENT shape! Like, you could go live in it right now excellent shape. Beautiful tour of a beautiful location. I want to visit it myself now!
Same here, always drive passed it on the way to the lakes and back and I used to work at Barnard Castle for a while so always going passed it, so pleased I called it, as it is brilliant and only £10, as I remember for a castle visit, I could have stayed there all day. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
King Cnut? You have no idea how hard I'm reining in my schoolboy urges with that one 🤨 Joking apart, it's cracking vid Al. nice ambient music choice and some lovely cinematics. 👌
Haha, yes, canny castle mind and only 12 miles from home, so a nice short trip out for a change, my car approved lol! Thanks very much for watching Lee, cheers Alan
I really enjoyed it Doug, weather not been the best here, so I thought I would go for a visit, especially as it is only 12 miles from where we live. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
So sorry for the late view on this Alan. We don't seem to have received a notification😫. Anyway better late than never! We really enjoyed this tour of Raby castle, it's so well maintained and grand! You did a great job of bringing the history to life with all your stories about what life was like there. Really interesting, like them sleeping upright, we always thought the beds were small because the people were back then too!😆. And the poor little turn spit dogs in their wheel! Our favourite stories have to be the 3 ghosts though, wouldn't like to be caught by one of those white hot knitting needles mind! A brilliant video, thank you for showing us around. Hope you are well, atb Shell and Pete
Thanks very much for watching and I am embarrassed to admit this is the first proper visit to the castle, yet it is only 12 miles from where we live, unsure why I left it so long but real pleased I did visit in the end, what an amazing place, cheers Alan
Oh wow, that's real interesting and I hope one day you could maybe visit Raby Castle yourself, it's a real nice castle and a fascinating place to visit if you enjoy history, something I love. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real nice of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
WOW!! What a magnificent place! The interior is gorgeous! The grounds are spectacular! What a treat to be able to see this. Thank you Alan!! Blessings!!
Glad you enjoyed it and it is only 12 miles away from where we live, so I should have been there a lot earlier, I really missed out, so pleased I put it right. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Excellent Alan mate, i must have drove past there a hundred times but never had a look inside so thanks for taking us there bud 👌 👏 Class video with some great history mate, really enjoyed it ATB CHRIS 👍
Haha, me too, ever time I go to the lakes and I used to work at Barnard castle as well, so would go passed twice a day lol. Real pleased I went in mind, really enjoyed it. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
I have been to Castles in counties that surround county Durham (Northumberland/Yorkshire ) but jut never was able to visit your area, though Raby was one I wanted to see.The fact that I live near Wales makes up for it. Fantastic castles North and South. Though you do have some great castles close by in Northumberland. Cheers.
Thank for watching Keith and to be fair some great castle in Wales I would love to visit too. I loved Raby Castle and only 12 miles from home but my favourite is Chillingham Castle in Northumberland, the most haunted in the UK and we were there in the summer. I was filming it, turned around and could not find Mrs Metalman - turns out she had gone back to the car and locked herself inside, as she felt so unnerved about the castle 😆. Cheers Alan
We are only 12 away Mike and ashamed to say it's only the second time I have been in the castle, despite driving passed it so many times going to the lakes and work, when I was at Barny. I will be going back again in the warmer weather and when I have more time, as I missed out on the castle grounds, as the missus was waiting of the car so she could do her 'big shop' lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
No problem Des and a really enjoyable visit, I would have spent longer there but Mrs Metalman needed the car for her 'big shop' lol. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Only 12 miles from where we live and I go passed it every week, yet a first ever visit, why did I wait so long! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks very much for watching Dawn and only 12 miles from where we live, real nice grounds as well as the castle and at £9.50 a ticket for both, dam good value too. Cheers Alan
What a splendid place, really enjoyed this Alan, a perfect blend of touring the rooms with you and your excellent tales of the history. The colours of the maids room because they were illiterate was really fascinating! Sleeping sat up to help prevent chest infections! Interesting the history of The Nevills and Charles. What a great place to leave behind for the Vanes. Not a bad bargain for £18K, but i bet the upkeep has cost a small fortune! What a great filming location! Thank you for this tour of Raby Castle! Brilliant place to live close to and i think i read in the comments the cost of entry is an annual pass? White hot knitting needles? 😱This Castle has it all! ♥️
Such a fascinating place and I am ashamed to admit, despite it only being 12 miles from where we live, this was only the second time I had been in. I paid for a day ticket, which was £9.50 and that got me into the castle and the grounds. Unfortunately I had to miss the grounds walk, as I had spent so much time in the castle and Mrs Metalman was waiting at home for the car, as she wanted to do her 'big shop' lol! Thanks very much for watching, really appreciate it, cheers Alan
Great vid Alan. I've never come across that castle before. Looks stunning inside and still lived in today. The Vane family got a bargain! Tx for sharing. best wishes, Rob
From the kitchen gallery, there's a "secret" passage up to the minstrel's gallery in the Barons Hall (one of the two grey walls) so the musicians were not seen coming and going.
Oh nice one, never knew that, wish I did before my visit. What a fascinating place it was, really enjoyed my time there. Real nice of you to watch and take the time to leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Me and hubby loved this alan, and they way you have done it,with the story telling was really good.from the fact they were illiterate and used colours,to the dog in the hamster wheel,we both loved the way you done this video alan, and hope you do many more, like this.Loved the fact it has its own 3 ghosts to.agree with you this castle is sensational and our our case list to visit.big hug and have a lovely week and stay safe debs xx
Glad you enjoyed it and I was real surprised about the spit dog and felt real sorry for the young boy who had to be up before 04.00 every morning to light all the fires, tough days then. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Wow, what a classic England castle! Would you check out all that artwork... no inch of the castle is spared! Fascinating commentary. Nice to hear they gave the dogs a break! :) Great work!
Felt real sorry for those dogs and the young boy who had to be up at 04.00 every day to light the fires, some had it real tough in those days. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
What an awesome and beautiful castle! I think castles and church ruins are my favorite explores. A breathtaking glimpse into history. Thank you for sharing this video. 🏰🛡⚔🎥👍🏻
It was such a beautiful castle inside and only 12 miles from where we live, so I drive passed it a lot. So pleased that I actually stopped this time and went on a tour, I really enjoyed it. Thank you very much for watching, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it and only 12 miles away from were we live, so a nice local place for us to visit. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time yo leave a comment, cheers Alan
Very good Al! I wondered what it looked like. We have a row of Georgian houses in Bath called Raby Place and I knew it was named after castle owing to a connection with the Vanes. Now I know! Good work buddy 😊👍
Ah Allan really really enjoyed this. I love castles and this one had quite some history! Loved Lady Barnet and her knitting needles story :) The interior was so beautiful, especially liked The Barons Hall but outside too ooked stunning. A beautiful castle and I loved this tour. Thank you. Have a great week :)
Thanks very much for watching, real good of you and I am ashamed to admit this wonderful castle is only 12 miles away from where we live and I drive passed it a couple of times every month yet it is only the second time I have been inside! Because it is so close I kept on saying, I will pop in one day and at last I did and so pleased I did too, it was brilliant, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it and real nice of you to comment. I really enjoyed it there and only a 12 mile drive home afterwards. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Absolutely beautiful! I loved the choice of music really added to the feel of the castle of that makes any sense. It always amazes me how back in the day they had less machinery but built the most beautiful & high quality buildings especially compared the new builds now a-days..
Thank you so much, real nice of you to watch and I really enjoyed spending a good few hours here and only 12 miles for home too. It always amazes me what they achieved hundreds of years ago, without the technology we have today, such an amazing place, cheers Alan
Excellent Alan such a great castle with some big history (thanks for narration and the excellent research Allan) 😊🙏🏼 a fab video 😊 Best wishes Simon 👍😊
You are very welcome Simon and real pleased you enjoyed it. I sure had a great day walking around, I had an hours slot but ended up over two hours lol! Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Thanks for watching Nigel and what a wonderful morning out at the castle, really enjoyed it and only 12 miles from home too. At £9.50 for a castle and grounds ticket, dam good value too, cheers Alan
Hi and thanks, Alan METALMAN-Outdoors for taking us to Raby Castle which I have never been to. I almost felt like walking next to you and touching and smelling the brick/stone walls. The paintings and interiors are well kept and maintained. What's the beautiful carriage @2:42! Can you give me any info about this 7ft grand piano @4:41? Beauty it is! Do you mind me asking about the admission fees or any restrictions on visiting this gorgeous Raby Castle? A very informative video. Adding to my bucket list. Well done and keep coming. Look forward to exploring more videos. 🤗🤗
Not sure about the piano but admission to the castle is £10.50, which includes the castle and deer park, which I did not have time to fully explore but think is great value. I live only 12 miles away, so this was a real nice and very local morning out for me. Thank you very much for watching and taking the the time to leave a comment, real good of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
I loved this Alan, something I’ll probably never get to see…thanks for sharing the history and the information. It was all great…”winter is coming” 😉 Have a blessed day brother.
Thanks for watching Nikki and only 12 miles from where we live, I go passed it at least once a week, so about time I called in for a look around, cheers Alan
Though I have visited Northumberland Castles I just did't have the time to visit Chillingham, from photos i've seen it does look impressive. I have visited so many great castles in my time its hard to pick a favourite , but it would probably be in Wales.Near to you I was impressed with Warkworth,Bamburgh,Alnwick though not much remains ,from a distance Dunstanburgh is so impressive.Nice to see your wife likes visiting Castles ,mine never did
Yes been to and enjoyed all of those Northumberland Castles with my wife, so real lucky she shares my interest in them, although he hates anything spooky, which is highlighted in next weeks video (Sunday !5) when we booked an overnight stay at Walworth Castle, which is now a hotel and supposedly haunted too, cheers Alan
Great video, Alan, well done. I've never heard of this castle but it was absolutely outstanding. You did a great job with the stories, dates, and names. You must have listened well to the tour guides!! The other half really knows how to live. I must ask Andrea to run my bath!! I'd get some answer. Pity the ghosts didn't show up, but you had a very nice snack! Regards, Ashley
Only 12 miles from where we live and only the second time I have ever been inside the castle, which I loved. I run Mrs Metalman a buddy bath every night with out fail! Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Same here and Mrs Metalman used to go to school passed it 5 days a week and she has still not be inside lol. It's a real canny day out mind and at £9.50 for a castle and gardens ticket, dam good value too. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
You and me both Ant and this is only 12 miles from where we live. Sometimes when things are on your doorstep you almost forget about them but real pleased I went and had a look around, it was really good. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN yeah we have one called Haughton Tower, it's a massive house, very old and it's about the same distance away as your castle to you but I've never been. I'll make it a priority this year to visit
Thanks for watching! I really enjoyed the day at Raby Castle, I found it absolutely fascinating. It was a first ever visit there despite it only being 12 miles away from where we live, cannot believe I have waited so long to visit, cheers Alan
Good of you Mike and I was blown away by the castle and what was also real nice, only a 12 mile drive back home too. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Ahhh just up the road from me!! I love the Christmas markets, but have never been around the castle. I like that you can buy a family ticket and it lasts a whole year. It's great value for money and they've just opened the new outdoor adventure part for the kids? Fab video, and even the maids room would do for me 😂 I didn't know that about the stained glass, that's amazing!!
Thanks very much for watching Dee and yes, only 12 miles from us too and funny enough, it is only the second time in 30 years I have actually been inside the castle, what an awesome place it was, cheers Alan
Glad you enjoyed it Andrew and what a place it is, drove passed it hundreds of times and real pleased that I stopped this time and went inside. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
That's definitely the one thing I love about the UK is all the lovely castles! This one was a really nice one with a beautiful surrounding landscape as well. I really appreciate you giving us the history of the castle as well as your own guided tour. Really cool Alan 👍
Real pleased that I decided to go in and take a tour, especially as we only live 12 miles away, such an amazing place. Thanks very much for watching and good luck today Eric, cheers Alan
Very cool, very cool indeed and real pleased you enjoyed the video and found it of use. Real good of you to stop by and take the time to watch and leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Haha it was the opposite for me, after the castle, which I loved, I wanted to walk the grounds but as I had spent so much time exploring the castle, I only had time for a quick look at the grounds as Mrs Metalman was waiting at home for the car. If was the time of the month when she always does her 'big shop' lol! Luckily, we only live 12 miles away for the castle. Thanks very much for watching, real good of you, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN A good reason to return for another visit then 😊 your lucky your so close its a lovely spot to visit, I loved seeing all the deer and cattle on the grounds.
I can vaguely remember going there on a school trip(must be nearly 50yrs ago), very posh isnt it Alan.......when you think about it we are still servants(working class) to the rich...........Have you considered being a tour guide Alan, you did a good job there mate.....a splendid ''pile'' if I ever seen one........ATB........Stu/Wendy...............👍👌
Only the second time I have even been Stu and when you consider the times I go passed on the way to the lakes and I used to work in Barny, so went passed every day on the way to work, about time I went in lol. To be honest, I really enjoyed it, great day out and I was the first one in line to go in, so had the guides in every room to myself. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Lovely visit to Raby Castle! Thanks for the history and the tour! It sure looks perfect for movies and tv, (though I’m not up on Downton Abbey or the other movies). It’s amazing that one family owned it for 400 years. I really enjoyed seeing the interior rooms - didn’t know about the beds before, interesting to sleep sitting up, and lots of work to take a bath, whew! The grounds look immaculate - I would love to walk around there if we ever visit England! Thanks Alan! 😄👍⭐️⭐️
Nice that you enjoyed it Jen and I had a ball there, I had an hours slot but ended up taking 2 hours, did not have time to walk the grounds, so guess I will have to go back again for another visit, nice that it is only 12 miles from home! Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
I thank you for sharing this look into an amazingly beautiful place. I had to watch the video a couple of times to try and catch all of the various things in each of the rooms. The Chinese pagodas was just one of the things that caught my eye. Cheers sir.👍
Glad you enjoyed it and to be honest, I did too the tour around the castle was brilliant, I really enjoyed it. Ashamed to say that this was only the second time I had been inside the castle, yet we live only 12 miles away, sometime you do not appreciate, what is on your doorstep. Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers Alan
I completely agree with you about not taking advantage of those things closest to us. I lived five minutes from the beach in Clearwater, Florida in the late nineties and went there only a handful of times. Perhaps it’s the belief that there will always be more time to see those precious things.
WOW WOW WOW! what a castle, Raby is beautiful and your footage is next level! So elegantly decorated and the architecture is wonderful. Really interesting to learn about the servants and how they served the lady of the place, poor souls. Very cool to learn about the neville family too. You really are a great story teller and you take us to some amazing places, thank you Alan :D
Thanks for visiting, real nice of you and such a wonderful castle to visit and only 12 miles away from where we live. Every room had it's own guide and as I was the first one into the castle I was able to get a good char with each one. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN That's incredible! Glad to see you were an early bird and had the place to yourself, so much easier and better that way so you can explore at your own pace and take it in all! Thanks again Alan, a truly epic watch :D
Glad you enjoyed it and so lucky that this is only 12 miles away from where we live, such a great visit and a nice short drive back home too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hey Alan, did you hire that castle out just for yourself, just you there apart from the guides LOL. What a stunning castle, beautifully filmed and explained by yourself, you should consider being one of the guides to be fair as you just reeled off all the information on the history. I never knew they did that with the dog to turn the spit for the meat, really fascinating stuff. Really enjoyed it, take care.
Appreciate it Steve and I was surprised about the spit dog too, never heard of that before. I was the first one in the castle, which was great as I had the rooms to myself and also the guide that was in every room too lol. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Spot on Alan, a great insight into the history of Raby Castle, been for food there, but never actually went into the castle itself, they normally have a load if deer in the grounds, usually under the big trees, great to see inside, enjoyed your editing style too mate, good stuff, atb Mick 👍
The tickets were £9.50 for the castle and the grounds as well but I did not have time to walk around the grounds unfortunately. Going back in the summer for a longer visit but with Mrs Metalman too, she loves all that old stuff. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Brilliant video Alan really well put together very professional must put it on my places to visit list looks really well kept. The new GoPro seems to cope really well with natural light indoors I assume you didn’t use any lighting. What I have noticed is sound is not as good when you are filming away from you. Are you using the sound mod. Loved it. 👍👍
Thanks for watching Stuart and a nice local one for me this, only 12 miles from home and I think the only issue I could find with the GoPro is it has 2 directional mics. The main one is set facing you, so when you speak it is nice and clear but (if like me) you talk and pint the camera away from you, you lose sound quality. You can alternate which mic you use but I am twisting the camera about all the time, so should really boost the sound when I edit, which I forgot on this one. Apparently the Hero 8 had the same mic set up but would alter the mics for you, so I am hoping a software update might do the same with the GoPro 10. Cheers Alan
What an amazing old castle and the tour and history you gave us was fascinating took us along time to watch it with our slow net but well worth it Alan great video HAVAGWeek CYU
Glad you enjoyed it and I really enjoyed the visit there too, shame that is only the second tome I have even been inside the castle when you consider we only live 12 miles away. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan

And then the modest maids quarters, I think I qualify as Kat's maid? I often end up pouring the baths 🛁 😆
Interesting to learn about the history with you, nice video Alan we loved it, 4 big thumbs up from us 👍 👍 👍 👍
Is there a male heir in the offing? 👶 🏰
What a fabulous set and famous list of soaps and films, now more so than Emmerdale 🚜 ❤
Never heard of a turnspit dog until this morning wow! 🐕 😲 my something new learnt for today! 👨🏫
We really enjoyed that Alan, thanks 😊 have a great week, Ceri and Kat ☕ ❤ 😀 😊 👻
So cool! My wife is a descendant of the Neville family. Her 18th great grandpa had the castle built. Really neat history!
Glad you enjoyed it and real pleased you can trace your family history back to one of the real powerful family's in the UK. The castle itself is amazing and only 12 miles away from where we live. Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment and a very Happy New Year to you, cheers Alan
Outstanding architecture, music and editing are fabulous.
Amazing castle Alan - love visiting castles like 83 with a full view as always
Thanks for the visit Mark and just over 15 minutes from home, so a nice local one for me, cheers Alan
Will watch tonight with hubby debs xx
Thanks Debs, I have your latest on my watchlist, still getting caught up after a weeks holiday :o)
Wow what a beautiful place I full enjoy it
Yes, me too, I loved it there and only 12 miles away from where we live too, so a nice short drive home. Thanks you for watching, cheers Alan
You are right, really what a gem of castle, interior and exterior well done ❤💞👏
Only about 12 miles away from where we live so nice and local and what a treasure it is too. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, real nice of you and very much appreciated, cheers Alan
Looking forward to this later tonight . I love castles and I lovvvee Medieval History :) Catch you later :)
Hope you enjoy it :o)
Awesome, love castles, 😻🇨🇦 ❤️ Hank you for walking us through it
Me too, love the castle and love the history, dam fine day out. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Wow that is so awesome. I could live there quite happily. Ha ha ha. There’s just something about a castle that gets me excited. 👍👍
You and me both lol! Nice for the gentry but I would have not liked to be the young boy who wad to be up before 04.00 every day lighting all the fires. A really enjoyable day and only 12 miles from home for me, so a nice short drive. Appreciate, you stopping by, cheers Alan
Lovely looking castle Alan - thanks for the tour like 39 with a full 11:26 minute view
Thanks very much appreciate it. Cheers Alan
Greetings cousins! Neville family descendant from the USA here.
@@retrofan2630 - fingers crossed that happens for you one day very soon :o)
Beautiful castle. Great shots. The interior is fascinating, especially the chandeliers and the vault. Interesting history of the castle. Great presentation Alan 😀👍
Thanks for visiting, real nice of you and a nice short drive for me on this one, as it is only 12 miles from out home. A real nice castle inside and out, I has a one hour time slop but spent two hours walking around, I was enjoying it so much, cheers Alan
Perfect moody weather for filming! So glad I don't have to clean that chandelier! (lol) Great history here, thank you!
Thanks for watching Josh and yes, that would be some job but still, a lot better than that poor spitdog lol. Take care buddy, cheers Alan
Thanks for the visit, real nice of you and yes, such a gorgeous castle and only 12 miles away from home for us, so a nice short drive, cheers Alan
Somewhere I've driven past but never visited, thanks for showing us around.
Who doesn’t want to see a castle….very cool Alan. Interesting history too especially the reason they had short beds. Awesome stuff Brother! 🤘🏼
Thanks very much for watching and I am embarrassed to admit this is the first proper visit to the castle, yet it is only 12 miles from where we live, unsure why I left it so long but real pleased I did visit in the end, what an amazing place, cheers Alan
margaret stafford is my great grandmother down the ancestral line, always wondered what happened to them, thank you for this
Oh wow, that's real interesting and I hope one day you could maybe visit Raby Castle yourself, it's a real nice castle and a fascinating place to visit if you enjoy history, something I love.

Cheers Alan
One of my favourite castles Alan, and I live 25 mins away. Been there loads of times. Great vid.
This is indeed a fine castle Alan. Really lovely tour!!!
Glad you enjoyed it and only 12 miles from where we live, so a nice short drive too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Hi Alan. What a place! Impressive from the outside, but that interior is jaw dropping. So ornate! All the best and cheers for the tour👍
No problem Des and a really enjoyable visit, I would have spent longer there but Mrs Metalman needed the car for her 'big shop' lol. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Awesome and beautiful filming.Wish can visit this castle someday.Enjoy!
Only 12 miles from where we live and I go passed it every week, yet a first ever visit, why did I wait so long! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Thanks for the great video my friend big 👍
Thanks for the visit John appreciate it buddy, cheers Alan
Very interesting. Watching on the tele.
Thanks very much for watching Dawn and only 12 miles from where we live, real nice grounds as well as the castle and at £9.50 a ticket for both, dam good value too. Cheers Alan
Thanks for sharing. Fantastic Castle.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for watching, real nice of you. Take care, cheers Alan
@@AlanMETALMAN looks like an incredible place, thats a great price for Castle and grounds! Nick and Jill
I just had to have a quick look back at this video so amazing.
Only 12 miles from were we live, so nice and local for me :o)
Great vid Alan. I've never come across that castle before. Looks stunning inside and still lived in today. The Vane family got a bargain! Tx for sharing. best wishes, Rob
Yes, still lived in Rob and what a place to live in too, I would be very comfortable there lol Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Amazing tour. Very interesting. Thank you.♡♡♡
Glad you enjoyed it and only 12 miles away from were we live, so a nice local place for us to visit.
Thank you very much for watching Matt, real good of you and very much appreciated. I know you enjoy a bit of history too, cheers Alan
fantastic video thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it and real good of you to leave a comment too. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Brilliant video pal! Expert presentation as always buddy. Thanks for sharing pal. Another to my list thanks to you!
Excellent Alan such a great castle with some big history (thanks for narration and the excellent research Allan) 😊🙏🏼 a fab video 😊
Best wishes Simon 👍😊
You are very welcome Simon and real pleased you enjoyed it. I sure had a great day walking around, I had an hours slot but ended up over two hours lol! Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan
Hi Alan enjoyed the tour, enjoyed the facts and the ghost stories, love visiting these old castles and this looks one of the best cheers nigel
Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan

excellent watch that mate I've drove past that place a million times but never been in i might have to pay a visit sometime very interesting 👍

Loved that mate. Castles and listed buildings are another favourite pass time of mine, I don't go and explore them enough. Really enjoyable video Alan

Ahhh just up the road from me!! I love the Christmas markets, but have never been around the castle.
I like that you can buy a family ticket and it lasts a whole year. It's great value for money and they've just opened the new outdoor adventure part for the kids? Fab video, and even the maids room would do for me 😂
I didn't know that about the stained glass, that's amazing!!
Oh yeah, they have opened the adventure park 😂
Yes, I think it was the Easter holidays it opened :o)
Thanks very much for watching Dee and yes, only 12 miles from us too and funny enough, it is only the second time in 30 years I have actually been inside the castle, what an awesome place it was, cheers Alan
Love Raby Castle. Inspiring grounds, and a fascinating history. Another great video, Alan.

Ooo nice to check out the castle. I visited the grounds which were lovely but the castle when closed due to the pandemic when I last visited.
Nice castle 👍
It sure is, thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
Very nicely done!! Thank you
Thank you too! Real nice of you to watch and take the time to leave a comment, very much appreciated, cheers Alan

I agree :o)
That's absolutely beautiful, Alan. Thanks for sharing so much of the history as well.
Interesting vid, thanks .
Glad you enjoyed it and real nice of you to watch and take the time to leave a comment, appreciate it, cheers Alan
Cheers Alan, keep up the good work.
