Jon, put a tarp under the tent next time. And make sure the rain fly is secured. I even put a tarp inside under the bed rolls and sleeping bags too. That'll solve a lot of it.

Sand trout are the smaller cousin to the speckled trout. If you find one, you will find a boat load of them. They are just as tasty as a spec, IMO. Meat is soft and doesn't freeze well. Best if cooked fresh out of the water.
South Texas humidity is somethin' special. Especially if you're unfamiliar with it. Hey, maybe give Rockport, Texas a shot. Hit up Rockport Tackle Town and ACE Hardware for some gear.

Yelp! I feel your pain. Camped in tent in Alaska first of Oct. My first time camping in interior AK. Got down to zero that night. Our breath condensed on tent top and rained on us all night! At least it didn't freeze and snow inside all night.
Those sand trout your throwing back have no limit and taste better imo than the speckled trout! Very good tasting fish

Put a tarp underneath your tent make sure it is tucked under for further experience coming from a Boy Scout that way your stuff stays dry from the dew

Sand trout are pretty good eating, BTW. Not the hardest fighters, but they are beautiful fish. Great fish to target when taking the kids out as they are a pretty easy bite. Sand trout and croaker are like the bluegill/bream of the bays/marshes and brackish/saltwater bayous.

Easy way to fix the tent condensation problem, 8x10 tarp under it for extra protection. Most importantly, use the rain fly.

Thanks for coming down south also forgot to let you know about oso creek
if you put a waterproof tarp underneath the tent, less water comes up from the ground. the ground around your tent was also soaked, so it could be that. just make sure if you put the tarp underneath, tuck the edges that stick out back under the tent. That is super important if it rains, if the tarp sticks out from under the tent, the rain collects where you sleep.

That water is from you breathing in the tent. It’s like when you make a still with hot rocks in the ground and hang a weighted piece of plastic over the hole and a cup under it. As your tent cooled overnight, the dew point dropped and your breath condensates. Multiple guys breathing put off a lot of water. Leave a vent cracked.

Oh yeah, being stuck at low tide; been there done that! Those "weak fish" (winter trout) are really good eating though. Diffently found a thick school of them though! Way to salvage the day!
Not sure if you’ll see this Jon but I always put my tent on top of a tarp on the ground. Seems to help with that moisture !
Tryn use a rain fly and just saying there is a site called alpsmountainering and have very good sturdy tents

If you put the tarp top part of the tent on it should keep that from happening. Sort of like if you put the tent under an awning it won't have a bunch of dew on it in the morning.

When I was a teenager I had a 14' fiberglass flats boat and I used to LOVE to go out in Bullfrog Creek near Tampa, Florida and I would go outside of the creek onto the sand flats and I was lucky if some of it was 12" deep. We would catch reds, trout, and snook all day long. I would also launch right next to the Seabreeze Restaurant in Tampa by the bait shop right in the shipping channel next to the Tampa Shrimp Docks and we would smoke spadefish, BIG sheepshead by the bridge, and crazy amounts of cobia. My buddies and I always had alot of fun saltwater fishing. Another place that we always went was Fort Desoto piers.
gotta go back to port aransas man awesome fishing, or definitely try rockport its about an hour from corpus dope little fishing town.

@@Luke_05 it would definitely help, condensation would collect on the outer fly as opposed to it just settling on everything around you in the tent.

You need a ground sheet under your tent, like a nice thick tarp... Should be able to avoid the moisture then! Works in NZ should work for you!
Hey Jon.good video man. Really had a good laugh at you fellas getting stuck on the Marsh.
Not a total waste of video because this shows how dangerous it is to go out on a boat without doing a little homework first.
What I mean is, you have to look at the tide charts before you head out there.to avoid getting stuck.
Other things to consider is wind speed and wind direction.
Weather forecast
And have plenty of water n snacks.
One more thing.
This time of the year the Texas Coast experiences some very high and low tides and in several marshes the Tides will drain incompletely. I really enjoy the content of your videos.

Come down to southern Florida and go fishing in the Everglades. The fish here are giant.
and snakes and alligators and just about everything, i remember as a kid seeing it on fire and watching the ashes rain down in our yard . its a massive swampland holding full of fish if your willing to risk it. i definitely would not be traveling through it at night.

Big fan been watching for years now. I really love the new saltwater (especially inshore) vids they are definitely my favorites. I have been freshwater bass fishing my whole life and some striper fishing. I learned a lot from the striper videos in cape cod. I really look forward to seeing more!
