@hfhjfx if you take paper products and get it wet you can make them pretty hard when they dry and the grain structure will play a large role in the strength... I admit the tiktok video isn't to be taken seriously
Love how John isn't afraid to acknowledge someone had a better idea than him when working on a project. So many bosses find that impossible to do for some reason.
Yeah, theses video are easy to make, you fim the repaired state before you break the toilet and "fix" it, put ramen into it, cut to half-way sanding where it's bondo and continue until it look pretty good then cut the video again and put the clip of before you've broke it and done, you made a "repair"...
As a Master Plumber, I see a lot of potential in the Ramen toilet......Potential to make money replacing the toilet after the homeowner tries this ridiculous fix!
The paper hack was just paint. Not plaster. Paint around the hole, stick paper to it then paint over the paper. Even works with news paper. This hack is to quickly hide the hole, not repair it.
Y’all are cooked, that was definitely compound. I’m not saying a sheet of paper and some compound can fix a hole, but rolling on compound with a 9 inch roller is a very common and very old technique…any drywaller will tell you this. Level 5 even makes plastic wire rollers that are specifically made to roll compound…
@@morganhamm6753yea nobody is saying you can’t roll compound we are saying in the video that shows the hack that’s not what the guy is doing he’s using paint only no compound
Someone is going to be refinishing that room in the future and is going to go " What kind of A**hat patched a hole with two pieces of printer paper?!"😅
Back when I was in high school, we redid the living room of our apartment (with the landlord's approval), replacing the wallpaper with paint. We uncovered a newspaper patch in the wall, and discovered that the newspaper was dated 50 years earlier to the day. One of many weird synchronicities that my life is full of.
Dude there is definitely instructions, it's inside like a fortune cookie. My mom is from Bangkok, us Thais used Ramen to fight off the great elephant raid of pucket. They have great opium too!
For the Ramen projects, people tend to fill in the gaps with Ramen dust or crushed Ramen, and I think they go layer by layer, they don't usually stack them in and glue it as a big lump. Some mix in, I think, baking soda. Maybe they all do.
The paint roller trick, if you do that and also put it into the freezer it will prolong the drying process for weeks! Used to do that but with zip lock bags and we could go grab the same roller a week later and use it.
The funniest part of the video was at the beginning when his tape fell off of his belt and hit the floor... and the camera zoomed in really fast... I have no idea why that made me laugh so hard! 😂 Awesome video, as always!
Standard round toilet can be had at Home Depot for around $140.00 (US). With the wax ring, let's say $150.00 all in. It really is a simple job to replace. First time it took me about an hour, and my skill level is total amateur. Assuming the whole Ramen things can work, you are still going to spend at least $50,00 (US) in materials and special shaping tools. I can't imagine spending less than 3 hours at a professional skill level to shape it to make it look at all nice.
Can you make some shop shades for more -prescriptions or so they can fit over existing glasses? I have a -10.75 prescription in my left eye and a -7.5 in my right eye giving me a complex prescription but i’d still really want to get a pair of shop shades. Something that could fit over my existing glasses would be great! And i know alot of people would love it too. Absolutely LOVE your videos, been watching for years and you’re the reason why i want to get into wood working. Keep up the great work! ❤
As a man who bought his first home 6 years ago, and still living in it. I had to buy a new toilet in the master bath. Now I don't know the specifics of the issue, I just know, thanks to the drain hole size of my toilet, it added like a $200 PREMIUM to the price of the bowl. Thing cost me $500 for 1 toilet, where if I had a standard drain hole size that most modern homes use, would have been $300. Who knew toilets were expensive?
~~The Pringle can deal was in Handy Man yrs ago&OK. If it's at home, when you're done painting for the day/altogether. I need to try the pringle can one sometime. Never knew about that. I usually just wrap the roller in tin foil and use it again next day, then toss it when done
If you’re going to cut a hole in your wall to make yourself a custom niche/shelf, I recommend doing it on an interior wall. Dont go and pull the insulation out of your wall so you can set your coffee cup somewhere special. It’s there for a reason

My wife found a painting “hack” with storing brushes/roller if you’re going to continue painting the next day, she wraps them in Saran Wrap and puts them in the fridge. We repainted every room in our house and have used this method quite successfully
@@DS-ip4ns I'm not so good but the brushes and rollers I use are the best. They make what I do come out better. If you try to clean cheap rollers the nap falls out of them. But they'll also do that when you're just using them. Plus cheap rollers just don't hold a lot of paint. That's another painting hack. Use good tools. Oh and good paint. Paint that costs twice as much is twice as good as the cheap crap.
I’m a painting contractor and all you need to do is wrap the brushes in plastic. Saran Wrap works too. Make sure no air gaps and store in a cool, dark place if possible. I wrap mine until get enough buildup to warrant cleaning
Love the LED wall! The Pringles hack is cool. The Ramen toilet is hilarious and I definitely want to see you try again. Next time, crush the Ramen first, but not to a dust. 😂
Hey my man I would love to see your concept on a fly tying table/storage I know you could make one that I see in my dreams please do in a future video. Keep up the good work
Two reasons the ramen toilet did not work. 1) The reason they dumped them into the toilet like they did was they added water. This caused the ramen to stick to itself and removed a lot of the air voids. 2) They cheated. They cut away from when they are shaping the ramen to painting it. They were able to come close, but that shot of the final paint was them just painting an unbroken toilet.
You should try making a Roman noodle and epoxy table. Make a form then fill it with boiled Roman. Let it dry, then fill with clear resin. What would look really cool is if you added blue food coloring or linen dye to the noodles as they are boiling.
One could say that the craziest thing is that the first instant ramen (Nissin Chikin Ramen) sold for 35 yen, which was SEVEN TIMES the cost of fresh ramen at the time
John, I've been watching your content for years and I've seen you overcome challenges and find solutions where you thought there were none. You can do this, John. You can do the ramen toilet. I have faith in you. Send it.
The top edge of the paper where you repaired the wall is still visible under the paint. behind the top of TV. The stand out with the LED highlight is Kind of a neat Idea.
I always call the ramen repair ones BS because, if you really think about it, none of it's going to work when it all gets wet. Like, let's say you've got a hole in the side of your car on the fender, and you patch it with ramen and spray it with spray paint. That ramen is going to get soft and moist when water starts soaking into the noodles, leaving you with the same hole you tried to repair with the ramen. The same goes for the toilet: if you try to repair it, the noodles will just get soggy because they're soaking up the water, and then you'll have water all over the floor because there won't be anything keeping it contained.

John, the toilet video literally shows them grinding the noodles into powder/compound and using it like a paste to rebuild the shape of the toilet.
