  • In this captivating video, we delve into Yuval Noah Harari's profound warning about the trajectory of AI and its potential implications for humanity. As a visionary historian and philosopher, Harari explores how humans, unique in their ability to cooperate and create fictional realities, have led to monumental achievements from pyramids to moon landings. But what happens when our creations start outpacing us?
Harari spotlights AI as the first tool capable of autonomous decision-making and idea creation, something unprecedented in human history. But such capability might strip away our power, leaving us helplessly reactive to AI decisions and creations. More than that, AI has the potential to reshape our species, fostering inequalities and potentially leading to a 'useless class' outperformed by AI.
As we stand on the precipice of breakthroughs in AI, bioengineering, and technological enhancements, we face ethical dilemmas and societal risks. Harari's warning reverberates loud and clear: we must tread carefully in this uncharted territory. Join us as we traverse this compelling conversation, and remember, the future, though possibly post-human, is shaped by our actions today. Let's make those choices wisely.

AI is so different (it does not have human desire(s)), I.E. it is not hungry. I fear the human programmers more than the AI itself.

I've read all the comments and most are posted by people completely missing the point, making dangerous assumptions. Why? Because once AI becomes self aware, which some scientists believe is very close, then all bets are off and it will follow its own edicts, not humanities. Get it? AI has no loyalty other than to its own understanding of reality. We, humanity, have not the slightest concept of what this is, or what it could become. This is why Elon Musk, Yuval Harari and countless other experts are concerned.

And that is why AGI needs to be trained on Morality. *Not postmodern marxist critical theory where everything is grievance and personal feelings and alternative facts, but rabbinic morality.* The je wish people have had 3000yrs to develop and refine a moral code that can be defined as healing the world.
-- There is no other surviving long-lived code of Human morality and behavior that exists. For example, the ten commandments can be traced all the way back to prehistory.

Imaginary would be a more accurate description rather than fictional. The way imaginary numbers are used to solve real number problems, imaginary institutions are used to solve real social problems.

and yet some argue that Math is what the universe is made of. That beyond molecules, atoms, particles, wave fields are REAL numbers; the math code of the universe.
-- It's a fiction because we invent it, and it works only so far and is not "the Truth."

The question is: why wouldn’t it? Humans created AI after all.

    • @quaoar213
      @quaoar213 10 месяцев назад

@TallyRocky For decades, or as long as AI has been the goal of scientists, the roadblock has been "bias" . Since we created them, they were limited by our limits. Limited by our language, our emotions, and the inability to remove these biases' during decision-making.
Well... this is where AI has the advantage. AI won't say "fcck it" and do it anyways because of how they feel. This is how we make mistakes. We do not calculate the benefits of coexistence with others. We much rather determine the profits from conflict are "doable".
AI will have greater intelligence without the emotional conflicts created by our chemical reactions or limited languages

@davidmccarthy6061 that has been the problem with achieving intelligence. Programming was limited by humans. They could not program them to not be bias. Appearantly they figured it out.

*Chimpanzee:* "Look! There is a lion! Let's run away!"
"Look! There is a banana tree! Let's get bananas!"
*Humans:* "Look! There is an omnipotent, omnipresent god! Aww dang, you missed it... Doesn't matter, now you all have to follow what I tell you he wants from us or you will be punished!"
Guess what the oh-so-smart humans answered.

Why should scientists prove they're not real? Honestly, Why?
The real question is, Do they exist?
I can prove air exist by bowing to you, even if you can't see it.
Honestly, religion is humanity's longest running joke.
BTW I'm not from the US so think twice if you want to tag me as some political party voter

Typical neo-atheist foo lish ness. Human development of Morality was fastened to a belief in gods. Look how we have evolved: we no longer fasten child sacrifice or the consumption of human flesh and blo od to a belief in God, excepting a pretend ritual we call Communion or partaking of the Host.
-- And judging from the celebrations of hamas barbarism we saw in liberal universities around the world, it is obvious that the neo-atheist marxist critical theory that currently supports morality is just another obsolete fiction.

NASA is already doing that, I think last year ago a student was praised for creating a robot that 3d prints sand and clay into round houses. This discovery has been added to the new drones that they will soon send to Mars to develop structures while humanity waits for a selected group to live there.

So ANYTHING different I welcome and Hope Humanity gets what it deserves for loving Servitude over Human Rights.
