    The top pin next to the Bat+, market TP on the dewalt battery is the temperature sensor pin. It is what prevents the tool from starting if the battery is too cold or too hot. The system they use is different, which is why the battery doesn't work even if you modify it physically. You can bypass it with a 10k ohm resistor. I made a video: ruclips.net/video/PNdQdzWtLVE/видео.html

    And the most important reason why they won't work? Because they're both made by the same manufacturer and that is Black & Decker. Black & Decker makes DeWalt and Hercules so they definitely weren't going to make their cheaper battery compatible with the DeWalt. Now you know why they're both so similar and will not work together.

    I wonder if you can take the internals of the hercules battery and put them inside a dead dewalt battery with minimal soldering. Can you take the whole bock of 4 cells and solder them to the wiring inside a dewalt battery?

    Since the Hercules batteries can be disassembled so easily and modified to fit, someone should sell replacement power boards for running them in DeWALT tools. Cheap 12AH 21700 cell Samsung 40T DeWALT packs!

    The problem is that the temp sencer is incompatible. You coukd probably test both bstterys and add a resistor to make one work but you can only add resistance not subtract it so the conversion would only work for one of the batteries.

  • @lordrichard8184

    The problem is dewalt tools. What I mean by that is dewalt makes “smart” tools. Meaning they have battery control circuits inside the tool. Ryobi makes “dumb” tools meaning the battery control circuits are in the batteries. So you can easily hot wire a Ryobi tool with other batteries. The dewalt tool will fight you and won’t work because of the tool having the battery control circuits. So the dewalt tool knows your trying to hot wire it and the circuits are not letting the tool work.

  • @milesfifer171

    Their are a lot of aftermarket batteries out their made to fit the dewalt tools that are just as good as the Hercules batteries and you don't have to cut your tools or your batteries up. Only thing is when you buy original Dewalt batteries you know your getting quality.

    The pin placement was a great assumption. That is the key, or one of, to each brand being proprietary and preventing cross use.
    By the time you'd make any modifications to either the tool or the pack, it becomes a waste of time and money.

      ASSuming without knowing anything. If it were really that difficult there wouldn't be knockoff batteries for nearly every brand. A reason knockoffs aren't as good is because they sometimes use old/used/inferior batteries. I believe only DeWalt XR and newer Milwaukee have a special board, however that is to stop you from reusing official batteries. I (and many others) have been able to modify/re-purpose batteries and chargers (avg. $10 or less in most severe case), this isn't advanced engineering.

      With microcontroller ICs costing pennies a piece these days it is easy enough tech to implement. I'm sure every manufacturer is interested in protecting their sales.

    There are dirt cheap chinese copies of Dewalt batteries on ebay. 23$ for 20v 2.0 ah. I've had the cheapo ebay Batts for a Milwaukee. I had to shave the rails a bit but they did work. Another exciting thing I saw today. A Factory adapter (hot foot) that allows the use of the 20v dewalt batteries on the older 18v dewalt line. ...That's the kind of crap that makes a man switch from red to yellow! (I got burned when Milwaukee switched from V18 to M18).

    • @timcole421
      @timcole421 7 лет назад +1

      I have been a dewalt guy forever. Everyone kept telling me to go Milwaukee...so I did! I bought two expensive v18 rotary hammers, batteries and chargers. It worked OK. Until the batteries failed. Sold them for next to nothing on ebay.....worthless. Never again. I just found out about the 18v/20v adapter and I am stoked! I have a ton of the good old 18v yeller tools!

      Indeed, it's freaking annoying that they want us to buy a whole bunch of batteries every 4 years 'cause newer tools and stuff. Even thought they're nowhere near in quality/power/all, I prefer the ryobi using the same battery for years on end, makes it worth to tool up on the things.

    • @raabsand
      @raabsand 6 лет назад +1

      That's why I bought ryobi. I'm a hobbyist so I dont need contractor tools. It's super nice to be able to use the same batteries for tools now and 20yrs ago. I still have a few blue older tools that work great with my new lithium batteries. They haven't let me down yet. Quality is decent too. I dont beat my equipment either so they'll do me just fine

    Dear lord. I am just trying to figure out how to get the dewalt batteries to work in hercules tools, specifically the cordless vacuum.
    Before anyone says "just go buy the dewalt vacuum".....they have gone up 80% in price, and are 2 months out. I can drive down to harbor freight buy their cordless vacuum right now, and for a fraction of the cost. Not even interested in any of the other tools. I have most of what I need in dewalt already.

    • @GettinJunkDone

    • @wadebrewer7212
      @wadebrewer7212 2 года назад +1

  • @christopherbackus5578

    The problem with these batteries is, even if you get them to work, they're still garbage batteries. They don't deliver the same runtime as the dewalt batteries, and no over/undercurrent protection means you're that much more likely to burn your house down.
    Those el cheapo amazon batteries might work without modification and cost about the same as the hercules battery, but they suffer from the same issues. Cheap cells don't deliver the listed power ratings, and no over/undercurrent protection.
    If you want to take the risk to save a few bucks, go for it. I'll stick with the real deal.
