A side-by-side, shot-for-shot comparison between the 1966 television special and the 2000 live action adaption of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
This video is intended to illustrate the unique vision of filmmakers and the variety of choices possible when adapting the same book.
Nothing can beat the Chuck Jones Grinch smile at 1:29 although I'm sure that mad lad Jim Carrey offered to break his jaw in order to match it even further.
Both are good.
Nothing beats the original
You guys can argue about which one is better, and which one is worst. I’m gonna keep watching the original that maybe, perhaps, means a little bit more.
I like them both
1966: Freaky, and Twisted... no seriously he literally just stares into my soul 😳😨
2000: Goofy, quite a comedian... well it is Jim Carrey after all and he is a funny actor 😂🤣

@@patrickasemota47 ok
I like the Jim Carrey version - That one is funny
The animated Grinch give more fear being good :v XD
this one was just garbage. Carry is just a grouchy vulgar fuck face now, and this version is seriously inappropriate for children IMHO. the new one blows this shit pile out of the water.
@@zgrillo2004 cuz its fucking 1966 what you expecting from that???

The grinch is So cool

Abridging from Chuck Jones's version indeed.

I actually like the 2000 version
Very goog The Grinch 2018
1966 is better!
The 2000 version is the funniest one 😂😂😂😂
Grinch 2000 > Grinch 1966
Jim Carrey didn't play the Grinch; he IS the Grinch.
The original is just a cheesy cartoon for babies
@@tizianoferrigno588 yes because “im an idiot, your an idiot” is not cheesy but “maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more” definitely is 🙄

No contest at all - Jim Carrey takes the cake as the Grinch.
Agreed
Peter Pan 1953 Vs 2003 .
200
Honestly, the Jim Carrey version shouldn't even count - they had no interest in telling the story, they just wanted to watch Carrey doing his thing so much that it takes OVER AN HOUR for them to get the actual story, and then it's all rushed through in the last fifteen minutes. It shouldn't even be seen as a legit adaptation, more as a two hour long SNL sketch.
Underrated comment
Yep this is the definition of great performance but mediocre movie. The movie itself I never cared for Howe Jim does a great job. If they would’ve had more to the story this could’ve been so much more enjoyable.
I don’t care what anyone says, the 2000 version is good and anyone that tells is directly to my face is wrong.
Your perception of the film is spot on. The film has a very beautiful message, but it didn't make sense. The Grinch changes his mindset very suddenly, and so do the citizens of Whoville. They didn't go through a process of change; the only thing the lazy script does to explain everything is the girl's father's speech. They wasted a lot of time on other things, and the story was very poorly managed, unfortunately.
P
Is there Anyone else besides me that HATES the 2000 film? I can’t stand it’s ugliness, both the way it looks and how everyone is an asshole
That was the point. It was a satire about the "Christmas rush." It was poking fun of the Who's thinking of material things, and then having them realize they were wrong at the end.
CurtTheGamer but that’s not what the book nor the 1966 (is that the right year?) movie. I can’t stand how I likable and greedy they are.
If you like it, that’s fine, I won’t put you down. I just can’t be convinced to like this movie
@@RJIS To be fair, we never see any of the Whos' points of views in the original book or cartoon, because we are seeing it from the point of view of the Grinch. For all we know, they started out greedy as well, and then realized they were being unreasonable after they discovered they'd been robbed. We'll never know because we never saw their lives or anything. But I understand where you're coming from anyway.
CurtTheGamer same. I think we can agree on one thing:
All Grinch movies are better than the Cat in the Hat film
Nashaya McNair unfortunately that didn’t save the film
Jim Carrey is the best
