    Don't fprget to lock the tailgate for the next load... Sometimes dump trucling gets monotonous, & you forget to take the PTO out or lock the gate.. It happens. I remember when there were no buttons. You pulled a cable/handle from the floor to engage the PTO, Moved a lever between the seats for up & down < Had a handle outside the cab for the tailgate no air or hydraulics ..all manual

Thanks for any feedback

    I would imagine the biggest safety issue with some types of garbage trucks is the ones with the front loader forks i.e ( The analogy would be a skid steer in terms of construction vehicles /possible forklifts) ...As if not properly operated you could dump tons of weight on yourself/front of vehicle.

    • @slr379x9
      @slr379x9 6 лет назад +3

      yes actually there is a definite difference in route length for dump trucking. You can spend a week trucking a half mile on site all day or haul asphalt which can be 100-200mile round trips. I've driven tt and dump truck and enjoy both. I do watch videos like this because you never know what tricks you might learn from someone else. Hope that answered your question even tho i think you just felt like leaving a sarcastic comment

    I know this is an old video…but I am 52 years old. I decided to make a career change after covid. I left my job after 22 years in a warehouse offloading trucks and shipping containers. I got my CDL B. License last year. I’m still trying to find the right fit. I’m looking at a few dump truck companies outside Philly. Hopefully I can find something that encourages new inexperienced cdl drivers.
    I have a couple questions.
    1)Does the dump truck driver get out of the truck to do any digging, tampering or excavating or does he/she just stay in truck to drive and operate it? I don’t mind stretching my legs out and getting my hands dirty but at my age, I’m not trying to do too much physical work at this stage of my life.
    2) what is better? Getting paid by the load? Or paid by the hour? One place said that they start new drivers at $22.-23/hr. 8-10 hour days. Another place said $230-250/ day no overtime. They give 30-50$ over 40hours.
    Can you or any of your followers help give me some idea before applying there?

    • @Bobcat325
      @Bobcat325  2 месяца назад +1

    I sub'd! I would like to be a dump-truck driver as a second job... I heard it is hard to get a job... I wonder if any company would train you and have you work for them. I don't want to straight drive a big rig and be gone for days/weeks on the road. I like the construction site, so I'd like to drive a dump - truck and that ways, I can be home daily to lay in my bed...

      @@Bobcat325 , not in the Western Side of Ohio though... They are very picky about who they pick. They usually want you to do OTR but I have too many obligations like rental multi-units to attend to with tenants, so I have to stay grounded... I only would like to do something part-time (PT) during my extra time, but preferably in CONSTRUCTION such as a dump-truck... However, despite a few ads, whenever I call, they often require prior CDL/OTR... A couple of companies in Ohio claimed to be training for dump-trucks, but I contacted them, and instead, they tried to get me to do OTR...lol. I would do TANKERS/GAS TANKERS or DUMP-TRUCKS only at this time (I may also consider delivery of heavy-equipment such or delivery such as with UPS trucking, but I have to be home daily)... just to keep me occupied during my leisure between acquisition and TLC of multi-units... I guess I'd just cut them all off and just start my own DUMP-TRUCK/TANKER/TRUCKING company because I easily could...
