Great to see another twin cam vid. A lovely metro. They were never my favourite but it’s a pretty good looking car these days!
Still stick by my JCS cooper H153 WMB and my dad’s E30 325i - a real classic….like this Metro.
Keep it up Ed. Looking forward to the April stock vids.

    I drove a MK1 Metro in 1997 and I enjoyed it.
I agree on the pleasant handling and visibility on old cars, I drive a 1993 Fiat Panda and a 1987 Fiat Regata as daily drivers.

I had a 1986 D reg in Diamond White, same as in the video but with alloys, a nippy little thing. My Dad had a Y reg MK1 MG Metro in silver followed by a C reg MK2 Turbo in black. Loved them all.

I had B reg MG Metro in opaline green as first car....loved it. Perfect around town and very capable on longer runs to North Wales and the Lakes. Miss it.

I had an 1987 'Studio 2'. 1275cc with MG seats.
Not sure what this Studio 2 model was trying to achieve, but it was fun.

Oh - happy memories of mine! My first new car was an MG Metro, also 1987, but just before the "colour-coded" mild face lift (so alloys! and nicely contrasting grey bumpers etc). It went all the way to the far north of Norway on a camping holiday. Two drawbacks - bit noisy at motorway speeds with 4 speed box, and headlining prone to falling away around sunroof. A joy to drive!

Never had a metro, but my dad had an MG Maestro that had been chipped & re-specced by the chairman of Jaguar...really fast but desperately tail-happy, it was more than a match for the Golf 16v as had so much torque...if you could keep it in a straight line.
The boot got sucked open at speed (over 130 on the Autobahn was an issue for the latches) - I am not sure who spun it more, me or dad...any lift-of in a corner was a total lock-to-lock festival.
Sadly, the car got stolen & shagged by joyriding idiots...
We then got a "normal" MG Maestro & it was like throwing a sofa upstairs by comparison.
    Best to you from @HowardsPortugal

A series porn! A mate had, well, his mum actually, had a lovely black MG Metro back in the late eighties. I had my 1275GT at the time so we went on a little blat around the Essex countryside. We both had huge grins on our faces and only got a little bit told off by his mum. My friend later bought the 1275GT from me and kept it for some years before it finally succumbed to tin worm. I've always wanted an MG Metro since then, never quite got one. Yet. . .

Those wheel trims were, in today’s money, nearly £160..*each* to replace, but that was nothing compared to nearly £400 (again adjusted for inflation) each for the tyres.
As a specialist Metro breaker I used to get fortunes for both secondhand…ahh, memories 😂

Really enjoyed this video, the Metro was a pivatol master stroke. Never really liked the Mini. Too close to road surface, harsh ride, not for me.

Love the presenting passion, and love that each to their own preservation of what floats your boat, but 'phenomenally cool' the Metro was/is not. I failed my first test in one of these, but this isn't about sour grapes. Honest! 😁 Of course, that's just me. However, it is nice to see vehicles of a certain age being used and enjoyed...petrolheads unite!

All Metros didn’t have red engines - red signifies 1275, the 998 was gold on the A+
