After working in an electronics store for about 12 years, my depression caught up with me in June 2023. I was home on sick-leave for about one year until I just said stop and quit my work and now started studying for a new career at age 42. Scary as hell but necessary if I ever quant to get back to a normal familylife. Now I am studying electrical design and have found my passion in life. Thank you for a great video that I take alot from.

Peter don't forget that we are here and haven't given up on you, because you have been here and haven't given up on us. For anyone reading this, if Peter has motivated or inspired you to step out of your comfort zone or get something done you normally wouldn't do give this comment a thumbs up. Mr. Lindgren thank you. I had imposter syndrome for many years without even knowing it had a name 😅. Like you said in the video, there was always this feeling that things were going well or working out purely by chance, and that one day it would all come to an end. At the start of each month, I would worry whether there’d even be enough orders by the end of the month to survive.
And then, at some point, I had this one crucial realization: How could someone manage to run his own business for 25 years if it was all just luck? Success couldn’t just be luck-not over such a long period.
Today, I take pride in what I do, and that’s important: to accept that success isn’t random because it simply doesn’t work like that over the long term. We’re working on our dreams, and we should fully enjoy it when some of them come true! 🤘🏼

    • @TechMixr
      @TechMixr 12 дней назад

The levels that I relate to this are insane.
It feels like dumb luck, then you blink, 20+ years fly by and say to yourself “I am actually worth the dreams I aspire to” - it’s mesmerizing sometimes to think that our brains would create that level of borderline torture.
I love this community so much seeing comments like yours. We’re not alone, and this video is proof that if you stick to the road, even without a map, you’ll get there as long as your heart is in the right place.

What an amazing video and I am happy to see I wasn't alone. All of my college years I spent them basically between school, training (since I was a student-athlete) and editing. Every night my friends use to ask me if I was available to do something, go out for dinner or things like that but I always replied that "I couldn't, as I needed to edit". Sometimes I look back and I ask myself if I wasted those opportunities being now an adult in the "real world" or not. Being a RUclipsr also creates so many questions everyday. If a video underperforms you undervalue yourself and the mental health aspect take hit after hit. Let's all keep believing in our choices 🤝🏼

what got me thinking after watching this video is your statement not to chase perfection too much.

Thanks for a very personal video and message Peter! There is a quote from Lao Tzu: ""Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom." I would add to your message, that it is worth taking risks and not be afraid of failing. Trying things out (and even failing) is the one of the best ways to learn one's "why". It is beautiful that you were not afraid to show the "failure" part, too. It is very rare on social media. Thank you!

Great video, brother - thanks! Those tips, at the end, are pure gold -- thank you! I'm actually working on printing more. I already am a fan of proper printing but I send my print work out (Company called Whitewall printing). They do an amazing job and I've loved their work! But now, I'd like to do this myself, so I purchased the Canon Pro 1000 printer (right at the time the 1100 came out, and scored a $300 discount).
As a photographer, I firmly believe that printing your work does so much to complete the photography process. That, in a world of instant IG posts, taking the time to actuall print your work provides a perspective unlike any other. So I'm hoping that self-printing is successufl -- and not as a business or anything like that -- but just as a way of congratulating me on my work - on being proud of what I accomplished.
Can be a bit daunting, for sure - but I'm of the mindset "why not me"? Again - great video as always. I'm excited for you and the accomplishments you've made thus far -- yes, but even more about the accomplishments that lie in front of you. Keep being "you". Go get it, my friend!

Hey Peter. I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time now and I'm sure I've already commented on this, but your videos are perfect. The quality of the audio, video, lighting, the music, the storytelling, the editing, all combine to create really interesting videos. Trying to get a RUclips channel off the ground has been up and down. I know I'm not consistent enough with it (along with other life things), but I see glimpses of "wow this could really be something special". In those times I find myself grinding, but it eventually fades until a random day where I go create something. I think I have the tools: I've been in corporate/non-profit video for almost ten years, I have the gear, I have the knowledge. It's just combining all of that into something valuable for the audience that makes me hesitate. The imposter syndrome, and a lot like where you said it feels like someone or something can just come and take it away is always looming over.
I can say your channel has been a huge inspiration in the process. Even to the point of where my wife knows who you are! lol and videos like this are very motivating. Seeing that it's not only the tiny creator (me) going through these battles.
Cheers to you, Peter. Love your authenticity bro!

    My man.
I was a DJ for 28 years. 12 of those years in major radio markets. (When I say DJ, I mean mixing tracks, not talking)
I was one of the most syndicated DJs in the country for 3 of those years (syndicated meaning I had a show on 8 radio stations in major markets on Saturday nights) - and it was cool…………. but I walked away from it. I have a day job (editing for a DJ Music Video company as my main client) and I love it.
However, most of my identity is that DJ persona. I started when I was 16 and I’m 44 now. I cut back my gigs because I want to pursue content creation entirely away from that world (I’m a tech geek, thus the RUclips channel name) - and also I’m helping taking care of a family member and that priority will always be first.
Can I just tell you that for a LIST of reasons, I’m so impressed and proud of where you came from to where you’re at. Like, I been following for years now and it blows me away. I hope to meet somewhere close to the same level of success you’ve worked so hard to get to.
The hardest part is the identity separation. I’m typing this after playing a gig (I’ve done 10 all year- I used to do 2-3 a week on top of work). It was amazing, and they want me back, but I told them- once every other month MAYBE. And finally, I’m getting used to crafting my new identity and it’s exciting. It wasn’t always, but it’s definitely a nice feeling.
I’ll always will support your movements. Much love from Canada.

I was in EOD unit (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), I will not go in details here, but to be fair to this day I have struggles to acknowledge any civilian success I have made so far after finishing my military career! It seems like nothing really can touch the level I was on. There are some nice achievements I made to be honest in civilian life, but only one thing that makes me want to make success now is filming and photography. I am doing it for few years now and after this period I can really say, that is the thing I will be satisfied and happy with for sure. So ya, that will be my task now and we will see how far will it go. Anyway mate, I want to thank you for making this channel and all videos so far. I follow you for years now and I kind of discovered my passion through your channel. Well done job mate and keep on doing it💪

Sooooooo ... when does the "Mr. Lindgren - The Motion Picture" come out? You've come a long way indeed, a lot of hard work, and a lot of wins, big and small, well done indeed :) Gonna be interesting to see where you're at 5 years from now, here for the long haul :)

o my god thanks big words from you and yes it's hard changing is very hard especially in the first years >> and i always support that
some how my dream was to be a professional player in big club i was working so hard As I got older, I reached a point where I told myself I should stop and I started thinking about becoming a coach at school, but I was too late also then i star be on football clubs
so I always get involved in sports work
And I started working as a sports photographer in clubs and academies and thank God I became popular in the region without getting involved in social media, but I did not get the thing I wanted, which is that the effort I put in as a media photographer is not enough financially, so I decided to work three things at the same time, which is a job, then a photographer and a RUclipsr, then I found that RUclips is merciless and requires focus and high effort, so I decided to leave work and focus on RUclips
Thank God, I feel the same. I am now comfortable on RUclips and I feel almost stable, but not much
And I will not lie to you, this month I received an offer from a strong company with a good salary, but this company will destroy everything I built because the job will force me to work 8 hours a day and will make me or force me to give up my freelance work
In fact, I am facing difficulty now between freelance work or a job
What I am really looking for is a job that suits my freelance work and does not affect it negatively because most companies lack flexibility..and flexibility in life is number one for me because productivity in it is Always with quality
So I refused an excellent offer from a company, but I'm afraid one day I'll regret it because I refused.
Thank you for sharing your ideas as they are always valuable to me.

I get up every morning at 5 to be able to go to the gym, take my son to school, take care of my RUclips channel and work an underpaid full time job from 2pm till 11pm...6 days a week...no weekend and almost zero family time. All this in a foreign country (Spain) where we constantly face lots of problems - bureaucracy, cultural differences and, because of my work schedule, no social life at all. After living this "life" for 6 years...still struggling but not giving up. Thank you for this video, it's very motivating and inspiring.

thanks Peter for this video., Can totally relate as I constantly focus on the need to be perfect in all that I do simply to avoid being criticized for something that's less than "perfect". I've been working on this for the past few months to live in the not so perfect world. It's been really freeing.

Peter you're an amazing human being and so inspiring. I've moved to Sweden oct 2019 and in 2020 I've stumbled upon you poker video and showed it to my students at Kulturskolan in Värnamo. And it was one of the student that told me: this guy is from Sweden :). Since then I've followed you and your progress and you are such an inspiration for a lot of people, me included. Thank you for that. You're the second youtuber I watch growing so fast and so good that I almost can't understand how (the other being a normal guy from Romania that just said one day - to me also - I'll be the best youtuber in Ro, and he is.). Looking back I see how you all managed and it is not only luck, but crazy amount of work and hours put into this. I myself can't do it, i'm mostly a photographer myself even if I dabble in YT with some videos. Looking at this video I think I have the syndrome you mentioned, and I don't know how to overpass it. Well, I should focus more and try more. Thanks for this sincere video. Thank you!

I want to start with RUclips for over 4 years now and everytime ive got the Motivation my head turnt and my mind Get fludded with negative comments and self doubt...I'm not good enough or what have i to tell to the people, no one would watch or listen to me and so on...
I'm a Perfectionist and thats a Big Point of whats getting me not to strat because it musst be perfect...(i really want to shift away from this mindest) because it is such a Big pain point.
I really Look up to you and You have been an integral part of my motivation since the day I found your channel and even though I haven't managed to get started yet, I always draw motivation from your videos.
    Work in Progress ;)

Thanks for sharing so vulnerably and honestly. So much of this relatable and until somebody else has the bravery to share their story it’s easy to assume these struggles are only experienced by yourself and can be very isolating. So much of this reminds me of my own journey though life - with the exception of having the body of superhuman 😉

  • @ejorbe

My biggest issue is consistency. I believe I suffer from self sabotage and when I want to start I find myself saying what’s the point. Then I try again and same thing. Other times I so tired from not sleeping well that my body just wants to sleep and not do anything. I am not happy with where I am but seem to keep myself in this rut and I just feel hopeless at times. This doesn’t mean I do get things done, but I would like to have consistency in physical health and feeling like I am ahead in the game and not always trying to catch up. I don’t know if any of that made any sense.

Hi Peter, thank you for this almost spiritual approach to life. Of course, we all have our own path to walk to eventually find ourselves, and the struggles you mention here are so relatable! And if you, as a reader of this message under the vlog, have also walked this path (or are walking it now), a simple thumbs-up is enough for confirmation. Don’t strive to recreate that first (feeling of, or) viral video (that will never happen, it like fall in love again with something which you already love) but focus on the feeling of creating and editing it like you did back then. It was because of THAT feeling that THAT video became what it is. Follow your heart! Just be.
For me personally, Ayahuasca and Psilocybin have helped me tremendously in finding the feeling of love in everything and for myself. Such profound insights! More people should experience this. But for everyone, have a great journey of life.

I had a dream of pursuing a YT Career at some point but never had a breakthrough video. It's been 6 years since I started youtube and changed my goals on YT. I only expect 100 views within the first 24hours and I only upload what I wanna upload. Whenever I feel not motivated ... well I look on YT if Peter uploaded a new video to get motivated. The one thing about YT is .. whatever I upload , will be here for everyone to see, as long as YT exists . Thank you Peter. You are much appreciated. I ll be watching and supporting you. 😊

I like making family videos and vlogs one of my favorite things to do....but I also feel the same where I feel I'm away from my family too much. Editing takes alot of time and filming let's me not be in the moment. So it's a double edge sword for me I wouldn't learn a new hobby without investing time but also that equals to being away from my kids. I guess it's all about finding that balance.

I guess I'm recognizing the imposter syndrom thing. Like, I've got all the gear, the skills to shoot well, still I'm not being consistent on YT. I've had that imposter feeling from the very start of my music performing career 40+ years ago. It simply took a lot of energy, self-persuasion each time I would go live, record, and at the age of 64, I can't always push through any more. Your work snd dedication is such a great boost, and this was one of the deepest videos you posted. Thank you! I loved the Dad with the mask comment 😅

I’ve had some incredibly awesome opportunities and success with photography but get sidetracked really easily and also self sabotage…. a lot 🤷
It’s like I get to that point, on verge of going bigger and have a huge breakthrough and then something happens or something I do derails it or I just see another shiny thing and go chase it.
2025 Im simplifying to a year of only a couple of things, mountain bike race photography for the creative outlet and to just be outdoors around a sport I love. My Night photography and related gear review blog and a straight up photo gear channel because I just love photography gear, photographing it and I’ll be taking the pics for my brands and my blogs/reviews anyway.

I fell into a career in IT over 20 years ago. I’m self taught. I feel like an imposter most of the time… like somebody’s going to say, “what’s he doing here?” And make me leave.
That feeling follows me to most of my pursuits… whether it’s music, photography, making videos… you name it. My wife calls me a professional hobbyist. 😂
The only thing I’m consistent in is inconsistency. 😅
I’ve been working lately on balancing being okay with where I’m at based on the time and effort I’ve put in (or not put in), but then working on being consistent on the little things so that they grow into the big things.
Also, I can’t do everything I want to all at once… and being ok with that too. That part is tough for a perfectionist.
I appreciate you and your transparency. It’s had a very profound impact on me over the years I’ve been watching your videos.
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for people like you! Cheers!

Thank you for putting yourself in a position to be vulnerable I know as a guy it’s not easy to do that and often times uncomfortable. I think it’s definitely easy to relate, I think the competitive spirit is a healthy thing whether it’s a championship or a viral video something that always keeps us striving upwards pending it doesn’t displace our identity or become our identity then it’s healthy.

I've been making jewellery for 5 years since grauating and now I've stopped because I know it's not the route I want to go on with. I suddenly have the free time to exercise but also that I need to figure out what I want to do. i have a passion for film production, photography, CGI, and parkour. It is now at the point of overcoming the want to do everything and the need to start focusing. In last year of making jewellery at a 9-5 I became creative dull. Now I have to kick start my creative spark and force myself to create even when I don't feel inspired.
The past year made me unable to feel my accomplishments. I renevated a room completely in the hopes to feel an accomplishment. Nothing, it felt like another project and I just have to move on. No pride or anything towards that project.
My challanges currently are to seek:
    - Filfullment
    - Figure out what I want to do for work [Focus]
    - Self Discipline
    - Reignite my creative spark
    - Getting myself out there in the world
I know 23 is still very young but time is ticking. Always. The final challange is to change my Mindset. and it is hard.
Thank you Peter for creating this space. i have not spoken much about this to anyone.

I guess that RUclips in the way it works is not so merciful on the creator. You get immediate response from viewers on everything you do, thumbs up versus thumbs down, number of views, view duration, number of comments etc….

Since aug 2024 I work know only 75% at my main job and know morgen in photography and videography and im feeling better but it is still this feeling of loosing everything..because of fear. I have 3 years of videos I've filmed but never posted because I have issues with time management. I'm working 12h a day for 2 months straight, I get home and edit until I go cross eyed and can't make any progress, then I go to bed, wake up at 5am and start all over again. Generally only achieving 4-6h of sleep a night. Tons of stuff comes up and gets in the way. I've gotten to the point I skipped Christmas for the most part, I was dragged out by friends and family but brought my laptop so I could work on projects at any given opportunity. I've stopped going to the gym as well because I need more time. I don't make time for friends or family. I want to create my own family but refuse to have kids rn because I know I won't be there and it'll lower my chances of success in this. All I want to do is work until I can make something for myself on this platform as you have. I still haven't quite gotten to the point of posting anything. I want to build a trailer based on all the projects I'm gonna have stored up. I've given myself till this summer. Thank you for posting about your struggle and recommendations. I may still seek perfection too much in the edit and products I produce but I appreciate the thought of trying to make it about the progress instead. I'll be thinking about that over the next few months I'm sure! ha en bra dag!
