PlayStation 2 was one of the best consoles ever made and I used to have a PS2 back then the fat and slim version and I had the memory card to it as well
Its not really rare, you just have to find it. Out of 156 million units sold worldwide, there are still millions of unsold unit out on a warehouse somewhere, specially in Japan.
Just get some PS2 component cables. It looks good enough, even with component. A HDMI converter won't do much except let you play it on a TV without a place for component cables.
If I were him I would use my fingers and not that knife because I would be afraid of impaling that rare box with the knife and then I would be very angry at myself because I impaled the box
IT works fine on my flat screen LCD tv. I use Retrovision HD Component cables tho not the standard yellow,white,and red cables. They are supposed to be better quality. If you wanna take a look at those just type this in on Amazon and it should be the first thing that pops up. "HD Retrovision PlayStation 2/3 (PS2/PS3) Premium YPbPr Component Video Cable by HD Retrovision" Youll prolly want a component cable to HDMI adapter to plug into your tv as well.

I just recently got a PlayStation 2 slim system, but it wasn't new. But I'm enjoying it playing the old games I grew up playing when I was a kid.
