Sorry for the bad mic quality on this one. I had just set this up and didn't have time to put together a proper mic setup for filming this. This is also possibly the worst lav in existence
@@KristianK42 'Length mode' refers to resonance typically to do with the air volume for the ear canal when using IEMs. 'Modal' is often used to refer to more resonant properties of a transducer, so... a highly damped driver will likely be less modal, and an undamped driver will likely be more modal for example.
Welp, if you check FiiO's product release road map, they plans to release the FT7, their next flagship early next year. Which they estimate will be priced around 1000USD range. Honestly really interested what they gonna be able to pull off after they did so well in FT1 line up.
I personally love to pad swap, I have an entire tote full of various pads, so that makes this compelling to me. I do feel like the Edition XS tend to EQ really well, but I can't really pad swap those unless I buy Dekoni, which is fine but there isn't a budget option for that headphone. I can almost guarantee that I have a set of pads in my tote that would make the FT-1 pro sound better at a sub $10 price point. I am now going to have to buy a pair just to play with them.
@ Yup, plethora is one of those boutique words that is used so rampantly it is in danger of being used up. Conservation is well advised for the next 27 months.
NICE moustache DMS ! well i had to buy the FT-1s after hearing them at CanJam SoCal and watching your recommendations. the strap will be ordered soon but you may have forced my hand to get the Pros as well. i had to give the HE4XXs a shelf low end boost to get the suggestion of true low bass (smom of you call it sub-bass) and after its headband failure, I snagged a strap aftermarket band from APOS 😇. Now because I really like planar reproduction and I am CHEAP and the Pros have a similar deep bass reach like the FT-1, I will likely put the $200 out for them. my next improvement has to be the wires. i am surprised you both aren't complaining about the microphonic character of the fabric covered wires on the FT-1. the wire on the Eris was exquisite, unlike its over-fat mid-bass. Zeos recorded his cash refund to me which legitimizes his honesty about the situation. back to the wire. that flexible and attractive cable is right up my alley as long as I can get something similar at a really affordable price. Aune has one but I prefer XLR to Pentaconn as both of my DAC/AMPS have XLR but only my xDuuo TA-22 only has Penticon, my Monolith THX doesn't. i hope I can get my issues RESOLVEd 🤓
I had the 6xx and the Edition XS and iam listening to this on the FT1Pro and for me its my favorit of the 3. I swaped the Pads to Dekoni Fenestrated Leather. The Sound is great for me. The cable is awful, just way to stiff. I bought a Tripowin one 50€, much softer.
How do these headphones compare to the Meze 105 AER, Sivga p2 Pro and Sivga SV023? I suppose the Fiio FT1 Pro are worse/cheaper made, but what about the sound, is it worth paying a little more for the 105 or one of the Sivgas? I am also considering buying the Hifiman HE6SE V2 which is probably a class above in many respects, but I am discouraged by the fact that they are heavy and uncomfortable (and yes, I know, an efficient amplifier is necessary). I mainly care about good quality, low punching bass and nice holography and spatiality (I listen mainly to ambient, downtempo and experimental electronica).
I'm on Hifiman He400SE stealth, and I listen primarily to techno and ambient music. I have an Aune X1 Dac. Will Fiiio FT1 Pro be a nice improveent for me? My budget can stretch to at least 500-600 dollars.
@@AnbuReckz Maybe I've just been lucky with the ones I've owned (original he400 and sundara). Both had no sound or build quality issues whilst I owned them. I just got rid of them because I wasn't the biggest fan of the sound.
We don't know yet, it's just a matter of time. All I can say is I haven't been very happy with the build quality of their IEMs but that was a few years ago now. I had two cables break and the mmcx connections failed too
Hifiman build quality is ass. Considering the hifimans original cost or even the arya stealth original cost it is kinda insane how they got beaten build quality wise by so many headphones half their price.
Would love to hear a comparison with HE400se Stealth. Both with EQ as well. Sundara is imo rather overpriced when XS is almost the same price and HE400se Stealth is so close with perhaps better bass performance or more engaging at least.
6xx keeps breaking the $200 barrier. I don’t like them personally, yes i’ve tried different pads. I just shouldn’t have started out with sennheiser as my first audiophile headphone (i love bass). XS is just a better headphone in my opinion just for the bigger sound
as the biggest Sundara fan in the game - the FT-1 Pro definitely sounds more detailed to me - closer to the XS than the Sundara in terms of “resolution”
This is not a warmer Edition XS, soundstage differences are night and day between the two. You will read this comparison over and over again, because thats what people think, when they see the FR graph, but the XS is spacious where the FT1 Pro is rather intimate...side the side the XS is on another level, especially after EQ
Both FT1 and Pro have great spectral decay. It's almost as good as the best of Sennheiser - HD560, and better than HD600 and way better than all messy Hifiman.
They pretty different headphones even if the name suggests otherwise. Ft1 is a dynamic closed back headphone. Which is really good for bass. Meanwhile the ft1 pro is a open back headphone with planar drivers which gives them a bigger soundstage and they are most neutral.
I'd like to point out that the screws that hold earcups are tiny and they can unscrew or even break under the weight of the earcup with bigger drivers on this headband.
I sense these are annoying to reviewers because they are so cheap and still match the preference zone better than much more expensive and much more praised sets.
Longtime watcher and turker here. I'm sorry. But I stopped watching once BOTH of you swapped out the pads. That's like changing the room for listening to music in a 2 channel system with all the room treatment etc. Or when resolve thinks he needs to eq everything. I didn't stay long enough to find that out. Just review the product as is with all its faults and quirks. Most will not be going through the trouble to go through endless pad swapping . Honestly, today their are so many different pads out there you are only going to confuse your audience.
It is such a pet peeve that the headphone community has collectively decided to mispronounce planar "play-gnar" ... guys, it's pronounced "play-ner" just like we learned in math class. You don't pronounce linear "lin-ee-are" or circular "ser-kew-lar" right? Cringe.
Had bought the Edition XS a few weeks before these came out for $240. Had the chance to get the FT1 Pro yesterday for about $160. 🥲 As much as I wanted to still get them just coz of how cheap they are (plus the fact that they have your seal of approval), just couldn't justify another headphone purchase right now especially since my HD 600 are also arriving soon. 😅 I also have the FT1. So i really am set on headphones for *hopefully* a long enough while.
If you're happy with your current stuff, just forget about new headphones for the most part. Get too many and you start listening to your equipment more than the music.

Not having a condenser mic in-shot is almost confusing lolol
@ResolveReviews you say "modal" or "length mode" a lot. What does it mean? A resonance? Peace!
Oh.

Hoping Resolve reviews the FT1 closed back and makes a video about it
More videos like this please (if possible) where there are 2 reviewers exchanging their thoughts on a product. 👏
Yes, best format so far!
DMS + Resolve' Excellent reviewer combo. I really like this format.
Didn't notice how similar the 490 pro and the momentum 4 look till now. woah

I didn't like it in stock condition, but I replaced the pads based on this video and it's great.

which ones?
The greatness of this review bulges. What are those pads at 1:53? Beautiful!
Resolve is using the ZMF Universe Suede Pads, and DMF is using Dekoni Audio Choice Suede Replacement Ear Pads for the Audeze LCD Series.

Solid effort
