I found this channel because of the turtle beach rudder pedals review (for flight simulation). I bought them instantly and I honestly think they are the best pedals there is.
Very interesting that you being a RUclipsr just for hobby, cus your quality of content is outstanding like someone that lives for, Great video as always, i hope i can get this headphone on Amazon someday.
Thanks! If I had a lot more time I would put more into the b-roll and cinematic qualities but it’s really tough to balance it all. I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for review! I ordered the Fiio FT1 Pro. There are two main points about Hifiman: the build quality and the upper treble, which I cannot tolerate. Otherwise, they would be great for my taste. Furthermore, I think the FT1 Pro would outperform the Sundara, XS, and Nano in my subjective price-to-quality ratio, especially if you're sensitive to upper treble like I am
Man, your subjective description of sound is getting better and better with every review. I have been a long time follower and I still get surprised. I wish you had time to review all the products in the world because then I would not need to check other channels, haha.
I at least know the FT1 IS great, easily the best closed back sub €200. Comparing it to my He400se (the FT1 PRO should be better) it's very close. I would say open backs just feel more spacious still. So if you need a bit of sound isolation the FT1 is great, if you don't I would go for the PRO (^o^).
@Shifterfire what would you recommend for playing immersive games like elden ring, or war hammer space marine 2? I currently have the r70x refine and looking to expand on headphones. The FiiO line up is just killing it right now, I'm also thinking of getting the r2r k11 for more variety..
I bought the FT1 (Beech) by your recommendation. Great headphone. I've never had an open back headphone before and I think the FT1 Pro will be my first.
I've already made 2 other purchases (FT1 and Ar5000) and you haven't steered me wrong yet. I just so happened to have already received my unit of the FT1 Pro and I like it as much as you do. As my first planar, I am really impressed, and I'm glad you're getting the word out to the masses.
I LOVE that you mentioned how the dualsense can easily drive these headphones! I've been looking for good headphones that don't require an amp because setting up an amp to work with the ps5 is complicated and a huge hassle! Thank you!! You're the best audio devices reviewer out there as far as I'm concerned!
Great review as usual. I had already looked up your FT1 Pro's graph on the Squig. But, watching the review and comparisons and hearing your thoughts are always informative and helpful. Also, waiting for your review of the dt 1990 Pro MK2 and comparisons to the OG 1990 Pro, Ananda Nano, and the Edition XS.
Hi, just found your channel and subscribed. Great informative videos that are well presented. I rarely sit through the longer videos but just watched your Fiio Ft1 review and the time flew by as you make it fun and interesting to watch. Great job. Regards, Dave from the UK.
Been waiting for this review. Now I might just have to pick these up if they're as good as you say they are! Thank you for taking the time to do this. Even though you have another job!
Love mine, Fiio are releasing banger after banger lately! Regarding the visceral bass: When you take them off, hold them in front of your head and you'll actually hear the air moving with bass frequencies, it's a crazy feeling and gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it :) Also, keep up the great work here. You are always my go to since our tastes seem to match pretty much perfectly and your reviews are super detailed as well!
Excelent video, you got a new sub! I have a quick question, I'm looking forward to buy a excellent sound quality wireless headphone, mainly for music and occasional gaming. Do you still recommend the Maxwells as a god choice for 2025? I'm very worried about confort and durability too.
Thank you for the review. I have been waiting for you to review this headphone, since I recently acquired the Edition XS for a huge discount. I am aiming for this set since it seems to deliver great value for money and compete fiercely with the main contender in this price bracket, like the HD600 or the Sundara. I think I'm getting these as soon as they're available in my country. Thanks again.
Your comment between the HD6XX vs The FT1, so it made me think of a video idea -- would you consider making a dynamic vs planar driver video? I know there are other channels who have covered this topic, but the approach to get right into the action without any bias that you have really intrigues me.
Would you say the FT1 Pro is also more visceral and punchy than the Edition XS and other planars you heard (is it maybe close to Focal in this aspect)? Will the rolloff in the bass at 30hz cut out deep rumbles in games like Space Marine 2 or was it still good at that? And last how did its soundstage compare to Edition XS or Arya? Thanks, been waiting for your take on these and the video provided much needed insight!
I got FT1 from Fiio at ail express. the cups detached from the holder. had to remove the screws and reattach it again both of cups actually. the paint has little bit scratch but not obvious. I have rattle in the left cup with boosted bass and when I checked what u mentioned at this video, I found the vent is little bit loose like Urs, but the other one is normal. My main usage is gaming, and this headphone is better than HD 560s at any aspect for me. imaging is better. separation is better. the sound stage isn't wide as the HD 560s, but it is very good for closed back headphone. btw this is my first real closed back headphone and for me for gaming it is better than the open back. I don't want anyone take me opinion as a reference or build his decision on it. my complain is the quality of cups holder and the hinge mechanism and the length of the cable and the sound it causes when moving the cord. Sennheiser is overhyped, I think. may be the only thing is better about the HD 560sis that it has better bass extension I mean the vibration of the bass. some reviewers said that the ft1 is bassy, but it isn't at all it has good bass but for people who like high deep rumble bass I think it isn't. I used it with FiiO k5 pro ess with lowest gain at max 2 o'clock and it is loud enough. and thx for Ur review
Thanks for making your hobby so interesting and valuable for all of us!:) Maybe an odd comparison, but how would you say the FT1 pro compares to the Edifier Stax Spirit S3 and S5?
Another great review and helpful perspectives on what could be a great purchase option. Thank you so much for your time and efforts and for sharing this with us all.
Thanks for the review, been deciding between the Edition XS and Fiio FT1 Pro for nearly a week now. I guess one thing I have to ask is that the XS has been described as a sort of concert hall with great separation. Would you say XS wins over the FT1 Pro in that regard or are they neck and neck? And how is the imaging? I am currently rocking a DT 900 Pro X and am looking to change from them for music (of any genre/decade) and competitive gaming.
I have both and I’d call the FT1 pro an Xs with worse imagining and soundstage. That’s a compliment though, the Xs plays waaaaay over its price. I’d say for gaming the Xs is better.
@@FabioGrenkh I am curious as to why you say its a compliment with worse imagining and worse soundstage? Is that just preference for you or? Also thank you for your input.
@@StalwartNightmare I mean compliment as in, that it does everything the Xs does just as good or better, which is insane, considering the Xs rivals headphones in the 1000€+ bracket. Just not the imaging and soundstage, but I supposed that’s in large part due to the egg shape design of the Xs. I’m not an audiophile or anything though, so do take that with a grain of salt still

I find the most interesting comment is that you perceive the FT1 Pro compared to normal FT1 closed as more visceral, did I get that right? :O That's one of the things I'd had wished were better on FT1, I don't want more bass (In fact I thought it had slightly more subbass than I'd personally need) but I'd ideally wanna feel the bass more so in genres like Trance and Hardstyle I want to feel the beats pumping against the ears/skin more, I think with the aftermarket pads I mentioned in my other comment and giving a slight bump in the EQ (68Hz, +2dB Q: 1.1) will help a lot, it's close to the headphones I like the most when it comes to how it portrays the bass then. Otherwise I like the FT1 sonically a lot, my other gripe would be the somewhat lower clamping force but with the other pads it feels more secure on the head. I would like to know how does it compares to Aune AR5000. I know that they have different technologies, but is it worth paying 100 bucks more to get the Aune or not considering the would be my only headphone?
I've seen the planar crinkle come and go. Sundara barely had any, but sometimes if you moved it you could hear some. And now my Ananda's sometimes develop it and sometimes not. But it only happens on one ear and only when taking them off too fast. Some kind of air pressure related problem.
am going to order one , wonder how it compare to the other recent planar , the Fostex T50RP MK.4 , while the Fostex is a notch more expensive I think they kind of shooting for the same sector
More of a general question since I´ve been running into the same issue every since trying to find a new set of headphones: Is it normal for your ears to touch the sides of the earpads? Because when I look at the measurements of most earpads in the mid-fi or even hi-fi segment I don´t know what kind of ears these are meant for. The average male ear is 6cm long yet I keep seeing these earpads with inner diameters of like 5.6 or 5.8cm. Do most people just have really tiny ears? Are mine really massive and I´ve just never noticed it? I know there is Hifiman with their massive earcups but when I tried the Edition XS it was just too heavy and the earcups kept pressing into my jaw in a really uncomfortable/painful way. But at least my ears weren´t touching anything. So I wonder: Do I just have to get used to the fact that my ears will be touching the inside of most earpads or are there good, comfortable headphones with earpads sized for "average" ears out there?
Hi joey i play on ps5 pro and im currently using the beyerdynamic mmx 330 pro and they been my every day driver for the last 2 weeks they sound awesome and for open back they have very good bass. if you don't mind going wired the sound doesn't get any better than this im coming from the astro a50 gen5 nova pro wireless they been sitting in my closet ove been using the sound blaster Gc7 fiio k11 dac amp I just ordered the sound blaster g8 . Thank you! The build quality of Hifiman products is deeply concerning. I hope FiiO can just do 20% better in their manufacturing quality and QC processes, and they should be recommended by default. I love that you can buy a pair of Sennheisers or Sonys, and they'll last a decade or longer.
@@collins5647 Soundstage and imagine are better on the Xs, resolution might be a tiny bit better on the Fiio from what I’m hearing. Take that with a grain of salt though, I’m far from an audiophile
I've just ordered the FT5 at £325. I'm guessing that at that price it really represents good value against the FT1 Pro. I would be lying if I didn't say that the quality issues you had put me off the FT1 Pro....
I don't know what's wrong with audio companies in naming the products They have FT1, just call this FT2 and it comes after FT3 so that there is a price grading.
Thinking of getting some dt 100 pro x from beyer for gaming after finding this channel. But anyways imma need a new mic so does anyone have decent recommendations?
That’s hard to answer because they are both very different headphones. If you don’t need any sound isolation or wireless capability, then I’d go with FT1 Pro. Otherwise the S3 is still a solid pick and doesn’t need any kind of headphone amp which is nice.

Hopefully this should be the last setup I need there probably won't be no good headphones out until next year but the sound doesn't get better than the mmx 330 pro stay safe and happy gaming to all
So break-in period (burn in) is a thing? Just to remove the krinkle.
I'm hesitating betwwen this one and the Aune AR5000 to complete my setup. Your thoughts about that matchup, please ?
you sir have been cooking
Thank you! The build quality of Hifiman products is deeply concerning. I hope FiiO can just do 20% better in their manufacturing quality and QC processes, and they should be recommended by default. I love that you can buy a pair of Sennheisers or Sonys, and they'll last a decade or longer.
would you get the edition xs over the ananda nano at 420?
This FR is ridiculously close to HE400SE. It's like the same measurement but with a boost in subbass.
How does it compare to Aune AR5000?
Does it compete with edition xs for detail retrieval ?
fiio ft1 pro vs hifiman edition xs?
Check out the objective and subjective audio chapters. I discussed the Edition XS a lot in this video
@@GadgetryTech just watched, nothing about resolution, soundstage, imaging comparison which are the only important things when eq exists
@@collins5647 Soundstage and imagine are better on the Xs, resolution might be a tiny bit better on the Fiio from what I’m hearing. Take that with a grain of salt though, I’m far from an audiophile
Can you please review the ZS12 PRO X?
I've just ordered the FT5 at £325. I'm guessing that at that price it really represents good value against the FT1 Pro. I would be lying if I didn't say that the quality issues you had put me off the FT1 Pro....
Do u think the audeze Maxwell is still one of the best headsets for gaming
Absolutely! Sounding as good as it does and being wireless is super convenient.
what about gaming?
How would you pin these against the Tygr’s?
I don't know what's wrong with audio companies in naming the products They have FT1, just call this FT2 and it comes after FT3 so that there is a price grading.
Finally Fiio headphone for people who enjoy neutral base. This is the first, hopefully not the last.
Thinking of getting some dt 100 pro x from beyer for gaming after finding this channel. But anyways imma need a new mic so does anyone have decent recommendations?
So, the AR5000 is no longer the best deal?
Nope.
Edifier stax s3 vs fiio ft1 pro ? Thanks
That’s hard to answer because they are both very different headphones. If you don’t need any sound isolation or wireless capability, then I’d go with FT1 Pro. Otherwise the S3 is still a solid pick and doesn’t need any kind of headphone amp which is nice.
Mic options
Thanks Joe, these reviews are great. Full of clear info.
Thanks buddy.
Thanks! I appreciate you being a long term supporter
👍🌟👍
I bought the maxwell after all your videos praising Maxwell. why didnt u point out that crinkle problems in your videos
Well done Joe. Thanks for the reviews and advice, like looking in a mirror watching which is weird, we look alike , but the channel is fantastic
Good to know if I ever get sick I can send you a camera then haha. Thanks for the support!
Shame they went planar with the openback
Planars with ear cups like that 😬 don’t look too comfortable
Thought the same, but its actually incredible comfortable
