Lower level politicians like mayors and state ministers of culture or education will often times just travel by commercial plane as well as those politicians present in parliament but not in a position governing anything (in Germany the political system is quite different from those in America as you need just 5% to get into parliament as a political party).

If you have an Amex Centurion you can book this about 5 times for free in a year. Used this in Berlin a couple of times. Not as nice as Frankfurt I have to admit though.
You must spend around 20 000$ per month to have this card, so either you have a really good salary in a wealthy environment in a wealthy country and are paying a debt for your house/investment... or already have the kind of money to book this kind of thing !

thanks for posting this video. I had heard about this service a few years ago (at LAX in Los Angeles). I checked the price list, it is not feasible for most travelers in my opinion. What I would pay extra for is access to the private security area/being about to board ahead of rest of passengers (but not at the full price rate that includes all the other services, as I don't feel I would need all that stuff). For someone who is wealthy its definately worth paying the extra money to have this service, dealing with going through the main security area is a long walk at some airports after check in at front of airport, and can take a lot of time/hassle if singled out for extra screening, etc. Also celebrities want privacy, I have seen plenty of them being harrassed at airports.
I loved getting VIP service when I was at United Airlines. But it drove the Chauffeur crazy, because I had lifetime membership in the American Airlines Admiral's club. This meant they had to take their United Limo up to the boarding ramp of the AA planes. The ground traffic control would allow them out there, making the planes wait for them where needed, but the American pilots would tease them on the Radio.

Yep, it would make sense for celebrities and other high-profile people to use such services to avoid paparazzi and toxic fans. I also imagine that those who do book such services would have someone else they hired book those for them as well as their first class, suite, or chartered private jet tickets for not only themself but also 1 or 2 bodyguards. I was also reminded of JetQuay, which is basically the Changi Airport (Singapore) equivalent that I first heard about in a news report.

i've actually tried the VIP service in my local airport (hazrat shahjalal airport in dhaka) because my aunt has ties to politicians and my experience was much different, we went through a seperate entrance and had a seperate lounge with a snack bar and drinks

I did reserve a VIP experience for one of my vacations and frankly, I found it extremely overrated and unnecessary. You're just offered a LOT of food and drinks, like, everywhere. I had a cab come pick my family up at my house at 4 AM. Drinks and croissants were served IN the car. When I came at the airport lounge, drinks and breakfast was also offered. On the plane, the flight attendant came to us at least 5 or 6 times to offer refills and offer us food. And then, even on the cab ride at my destination, I was offered drinks... I mean, there's so much you can drink and eat on an early morning. My wife only had a couple of coffees, my son had milk and hot chocolate one time. I did appreciate the private cab ride and the front seats on the plane but other than that, it's very overrated.
